(14-1) South Oak Cliff vs (13-2) Liberty Hill

Biggest crowd I have ever seen here for Saturday opening game cause of SOC. BUT SOC is playing into LH hands. Defense is not keeping gap integrity or reading keys. I know it is close, but SOC cannot let LH score this drive and must score an early TD or it’s a wrap. Great game and atmosphere.👍🏼✝️🐻 -
I really don't waste any air on ESPN because of their forcibly political nature, but on their website is a FANTASTIC pictorial display of the year in pictures. INCREDIBLE. Great one in the spring showing the SHSU dressing room celebration which is any coaches dream. Other great pictures also. Enjoy.

NFL will soon cave to actual critical thinking and stop the foolish testing because of pressure from teams getting screwed like Cleveland. This weird dimensional world we live in will slowly go back to normal OR it will double down hard and emulate what is currently going on in Australia, Germany, and Canada to a degree. The only difference between here and there is the 2nd amendment and our guns--------pretty awesome defense to have in our back pocket now. The NFL could be the determining factor as big $$ is now conflicting with woke media.

Agree 100 percent. There is one BIG reason to choose soc to beat lh and that is the visuals, very athletic soc team with big college recruits. And understand that is their personnna, m o - however you want to describe it. And many people will choose them because that is the low hanging fruit, BUT football (in a one game playoff) is such a psychological game it would get Freud excited. First coaching staffs, I don’t know enough about soc staff other than the hc has been there 8 years and this is his furthest playoff run ? Why- using forensics one could say it was a talent explosion for some reason. This doesn’t help if soc if your going to play a serial killer ( i use this term keeping with the forensics theme- serial killer in that compared to regular people serial killers are different much like lh is different than the normal zone read shotgun team we see in texas hs football today. LH personna is a “ we can’t beat you athletically so we’ll beat you with scheme. Their type of offense is the most difficult for a seasoned defensive coordinator to prepare for let alone 16-18 year old defensive players whose eyes are big cause of Cowboys stadium and the media has anointed you greatest 5Ateam ever like USC. And then there is the Aw shucks, we just some friendly country boys attitude lh displays. Notice how much they help their opponents up off the ground? Nice or ulterior motive? Having a friendly helpful opponent takes the anger edge from a defense that is useful in defense. Andrew Luck at Stratford did this to us constantly when i coached at Eisenhower. He did it at Stanford and with the Colts also. Pissed me off as a coach cause it worked against my defense. Back to the forensics serial killer theme, soc is a blunt force instrument like a hammer while lh is a small scalpel, tiny but deadly sharp. Soc would win 18-19 out of 20 games against lh BUT they only play ONE. Lh will win by 1 touchdown in the game if the weekend or soc by 35. I want a good game and i am picking lh to have that one in 20 game tomorrow morning. I am excited to go tomorrow for the triple header as i reunion with several of my 78 Marlin Bulldogs teammates. Thank you for giving me a writing outlet at 3:45 in the morning. Have a great CHRISTmas and isn’t high school football awesome!👍🏻✝️🐻 -

Liberty Hill vs. Crosby/ POST UPDATES HERE

agree, i just like to see when two totally different styles play each other. I was a part of a couple of staffs who were so bought in to the shotgun air raid zone read offense, they never practiced the quarterback under center. We lost a game to our rival Deer Park because two different drives that began and ended near the 1 yard line cause of shotgun snaps and no touchdowns scored. As a defensive coach, i want to pull my hair out. I like many 2A and 3A head coaches cause they do whatever it takes to win. If SOC goes up 2 touchdowns, game over as LH is a clock control close game team. Gonna be fun to watch Saturday morning followed by the best game probably North Shore and Duncanville. -
Great man who did more for Texas HS football than anyone else. Beginning in 76, I MEMORIZED this publication, still do today.

agree--- i believe the responsibility of winning the state championship is more on SOC and how they react NOT to a football game, because LH style of play is unlike anything they have seen. When a tremendously athletic team is in a championship game, you never play their game, but something totally different. Plus you have the variable of it being SUCH a big game in the COWBOYS stadium on TV etc....... but the same could effect LH. The only circumstance that could hurt LH is they defeated their arch rival from last year, so there could be a drop off. I am looking forward to this clash of styles. -

again i am just digging to find any way to beat such a team--there is always a way as a coach to prepare your team. This match up seems similar to the USC ESPN hoopla of the Trojans being the incarnation of Jesus Christ on the field, before Vince and Texas used the disrespect to fuel an upset. Athlete wise, from video, no way LH competes. BUT that offense is such an equalizer when run to perfection. Last year they were 99.9 percent perfect against Crosby until the .01 happened and fumbled on the 2 pt conversion. Would they have beaten Aledo??? From the view of a fan, NO, BUT again that offense is so different and DIFFICULT to prepare for in one week, especially when everyone, coaching, players and fans are getting a little tired of the long season. I love the way the LH players play up the "Aw Shucks" approach, we are just Opie from the Andy Griffith show, we'll help you up, good game as they kick your as_!!! Oliver Luck's son Andrew at Stratford did that same crap to us at Eisenhower, tapping on the helmet, "Good job" after he was tackled, that smart guy way of nerving you. I hope it is a good game. I don't see Paetow having a game nor Univ of Westlake, so this one and Rocky 3 with NS and Dunc. -

Exactly on Liberty Hill, so many distractions with state game that playing such an unconventional team gives them a chance. Also has SOC been a polished playoff team?? That was the only reason I gave Katy a chance against that Westlake college team yesterday, Katy has experience. Didn’t matter!! Also has SOC been behind any this year? Many teams have trouble with adversity especially in a high pressure game. I have only seen a few highlights of SOC, scary team , very skilled BUT you have to play the game. Unfortunately LH doesn’t look the part, in pads Crosby looks 14-21 points better BUT you have to play the game. As a defensive coordinator, this would be the LAST type of team I would choose to play in the state championships, THE LAST. This is going to give LH a chance. 9 of 10 times SOC will win, but the 1 in LH favor will happen in the first meeting. Could very well happen— unless the revenge game against Crosby caused LH to shoot their wad early 🤔 -

Well didn’t want to put Katy or North Shore or WOS because they are still a different class with state championships so I just named consistency in playoffs, Jaspers definitely above but didn’t edit or think- just wrote. Crosby is deserving of excellent playoff company. 👍🏻🐻✝️ -

Congratulations to Liberty Hill, definitely played with emotion and a great plan. There offense is so unique it may be enough to win state next week. To Crosby, it hurts now but you had another outstanding year. You are putting your name in statewide contention with the Jaspers, Marts, La Vega s, Westfields, and the like. Have a great Christmas break and start working for next year👍🏻🐻✝️ -

Marlin flubbed this away by poor management. Being an experienced playoff team AND coaching staff is so important. Hawley happily controlled the clock and had the ball 70 percent of the time even without their best running back who was hurt last week. When Marlin had the ball, their indoctrination to a 1 back pass happy scheme left them with no positive yards and maybe 14 plays in the first half. When they finally figured out in the second half that running in a straight line is the quickest way to the end zone , they dominated. BUT their most highly recruited player, #4 outside lber and versatile receiver Guillette a juinor who has been offered by Ohio St, A M, and Texas only touches the ball ONCE ( the ENTIRE game), you have to say as a fan “ What are y’all doing?”. Sorry for the rant, just my hometown and Ive coached enough to know how some teams coaches can take away a teams potential, but it’s always low hanging fruit to blame it on those players— in a nice way if course. One day I will write how we destroyed 14.2’s senior year. That was easily the best defense I’ve been around— oh well Go Crosby-North Shore- Katy👍🏻🐻✝️ Would have been tough to beat Shiner, but nice to get there! -
Houston TD Club Coach of the Year
Coachbearoso replied to show me the money's topic in High School Football
Just from his interview, he demonstrates a team concept and lack of ego that is needed by all head coaches. Crosby is blessed to have him. I, as a coach, love his success because he examplifies a successful coach who was hired with NO head coaching experience. Great job. -

Congratulations Coach!!!! -
Lots of truth spoke here, coaching is like any other profession. 14 is correct in that 2 of the 3 good hires in Crosby were coordinators that came in with a new superintendent. New sup will VERY often hire someone new just for allegiance. This is no different in any profession. Years ago when GCM was getting ready to open, GCCISD athletic director went to Garland ISD to interview how they hired for a new football coach at a new school. Homer Jones, maybe Johnson was the most experienced AD, or one of the most experienced, in the state. He told Tom Ed that a new school needs to hire a successful, responsible, excitable coordinator. Many times superintendents will hire someone they know from their old district for loyalty and they are knowledgeable of their character. Sometimes there will be a true investigation with TRUE interviews, but rarely. VERY OFTEN THE SUP KNOWS THE HIRE BEFORE INTERVIEWS, or it could be someone an influential board member knows. The most important person in any football organization is the HEAD COACH, the second is the QUARTERBACK. Isn't high school playoff time great, not only football, but all sports. As far as head coaches, i BELIEVE the best head coaches have a background as a defensive coordinator (Saban and Bellicheck) becomes often offensive coordinators are PRETTY BOYS and have to run all their plays. Defensive coaches worry more about scoreboard. I have known some quality head coaches who have a background with offensive line, hogs are different beasts altogether. t
