I think the way it works is the entire city budget, which includes the municipal school district is supported by the significant sales tax from the enormous wealth of the business and sales tax within the incorporated city limits. They have a multitude of businesses like Webster, but even more sales tax due to a large Texas Instruments plant and a butt load of retail and motels.

Then I said the district is asking for 26 Mill more through a bond issue. Everyone knows it's district wide. I was talking in terms of the district wanting more blood from the taxpayer. I apologise. Actually Nederlands Athletics budget for 2008 was reported around 1.3 million. The PNG budget was reported around 700K. The recent additions to the budget still put us well below what Nederland is spending on Athletics. Which I think is one reason that the board has been so giving! Gotta spend money to make money. HS football is a business and Nederland has marketed well!

Front page coverage was pretty good. So, what's the beef? The PA coach got a front page picture and article as well as an article in the sports page followed up by an article with glowing praise from Mr. PANews (West) himself. What else do you want?
