Rough, excellent post. Well thought out. Beard and Hannah just decent; That is ridiculous, Credeur is a heck of a coach, as is Neuman, Stowers, and Burnett. The talent pools come through these schools in waves and the truth is that PNG did not have that great of a talent pool this year. Nederland has not been loaded with super studs the last few years either. Had they not taken 4 teams this year, they would not have made the playoffs fo second year in a row. "Woopty frick doo". Credeur is not a miracle worker, he is good coach with a good system who has these kids playing good football. They will have their down years just like everyone else. PNG has some good talent coming down the pipe and they will be OK. The truth is that it takes that special group of kids to win it all and sometimes that is still not enough. Just ask Kirbyville, Freindswood etc.

You are right. But there are board members involved. And there are still bone-headed decisions being made. So, again, what is qualified? But I can't believe you would disparage a pop warner dad like that. Say you are sorry. Ha! Contrary to popular message board thought by some, picking a HC is not rocket science. Other than that, good post. PS - I'll take issue about bringing former coaches and official committee members on the interview process. Not to say it hasn't happen, but rare case. Now if there are former coaches just teaching there, then their expertise would/should be welcome. Bringing in outside former coaches on an official bases, well, it's usually not done. Sometimes there are egos involved among some that does not make this the norm. But again, not impossible. My opinion? I think it would be a plus to do it. Great post. Someone gets it.

Baseball, you may end up being correct. But people can only deal with the issues at hand. As of now, PN-G is requiring a Masters. This is not to say that they might change it in the future. We have to deal with the facts as we know them now. We can't read their future thoughts. Anyway, good post.
-
You are joking, right? You are attaching an awful lot abilities to these school board members. Just because they can get elected this makes them qualified? The most unqualified man in the history of the U.S. just got elected president. I rest my case. But thanks for the post. Great post. Someone gets it.

Tripesman, I agree 100%. Opinions are stated like facts. I have no problem with either. But facts can be challenged (proved). Opinions can not. But anyway, good post. Long and Credeur haven't "turned down" the PN-G job. I love how people get on this board and make comments on things that they know absolutely nothing about.
-
bellison, thanks for the post. Where did you get the total package figure from? Again, just curious. If Long and Credeur has turned it down, that's news to us. I believe what's been said here is that at this time they do not meet the school's prerequisites. As for these coaches names, someone put them up here to be facetious. I replied that in my opinion possibly 3 might be interested. But, again, some of these coaches that might not be interested could probably give you some leads on good coaches that might be interested. I seen it happen before. Like I've said before: don't limit yourself. And don't assume the school board will always do the right thing.
-
Just curious. Enlighten me and this board: Where did you obtain this info?
-
Interesting thought, though. Good discussion material.

I'm hearing Wade Philips also. One may not need to try. He may come a-calling. : -)

I'm not sure how we got limited to these 7. How many other great coaches around the state could be contacted? As I have said before, don't limit yourself. PS - Just curious: are these statements about these coaches facts or opinions? It doesn't matter one way or the other to me. Again, just curious. PSS - Have we forgotten about the Gilmer coach? Chad Morris - Lake Travis (Chad is in the perfect situation, he's not leaving there for awhile) Steve Lineweaver - Euless Trinty (He's got a machine there...He will stay there until he retires) Tom Westerberg - Allen (He is probably going to get a nice raise after the season) Celina - Butch Ford (Butch is a Celina boy thru and thru...He isn't leaving Celina) Jeff Dicus - Duncanville (Dicus is the only coach on this list that would leave his current school....He proved that after bolting from Lake Travis) Randy Allen - Highland Park (Randy makes too much money to leave HP) Everman - Dale Keeling (I've heard rumors that he's next in line to succeed his dad at Hardin-Simmons)
-
All this may be true. But, in the back of my mind I would hate to think that I didn't make the call to see for sure. Stranger thinks have been known to happen.
-
WTB, I'll grant you the hurricane situation. You may be right. But, again, if the package is right I feel some would come. Now some of those names probably would not be interested. But as I said before, they may turn you on to a good coach that might be, that no on has thought about. I can't see anything wrong with having conversations with these people.
-
LU, I like a positive thinker like yourself. When you think outside the box, other people tend to get a little confused. But don't let their confusion get you down, True, you may not get what you want, but no one can say you didn't do your part.
-
Just would like you to back up your statements. I put out options. You make statements that you can't back up. Like I always say, lead or get out of the way. I'm beginning to see which way this is going.
-
And you know this how? Have you talked to any of them? You made a pretty definite statement. So you MUST have spoke with them, right? Please fill us in on what they said.
-
Who says I haven't? There are some here I might/might not call. But how does one know that they wouldn't be interested if one doesn't ask? Just think about it, if they aren't interested maybe they can give you some good leads on who might be. See where I'm going here? Sometimes you can't wait for things to happen you have to go and make them happen. I sure would be awfully disappointed if the school I supported went 0-10 and found out later that one of these coaches would have been interested. I know some would say if they were interested they would have applied. But trust me, it doesn't always work that way. Again, it's always good to ask. How does that hurt?! PS - I could see three on your list that might would make the move.
-
It's just my opinion, but a good coach can win wherever he goes.
-
If I'm not mistaken, going back to Watson, didn't all PN-G coaches (Ethridge, Troy, Malone, not sure about the guy after Malone) have Masters except Burnett? I think most schools, I feel the majority, in Texas where the HC is also AD, have Masters. So based on that PN-G is operating in the norm. Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
I think with their tradition PN-G has a lot to offer. Plus, I have always felt that offered the right package anyone would leave. But, one never knows until one ask. Why would you leave Everman for PNG?
-
Now the PN-G faithful can contact the Everman coach and see if he would be interested. Remember, don't leave anything to chance. But don't limit yourself to just this one.
-
Or what! Now that the laugh is over, do you have any opinion on the subject? Would love to hear it.
-
Bear, you want those two discussed with one or two tights? All day long, my friend, all day long. Not whining at all. Just amazed at the arrogance of ignorant boobs such as yourself! I doubt that you could tell the difference between the power I and the wishbone.

Trained for this particular situation when it comes to hiring coaches? You are joking right? I think you've said it all. Thanks for the opinion.
