  1. Last season's Dayton team may have been a bit stronger than this year's team. They have three tough games ahead of them, including Willow Ridge, regardless of the current WR district W-L record. I'm discounting the homecoming factor, though. I'll say this, though, the Dayton QB has a good arm and throws a pretty pass. When throwing on the run he loses more than a little oomph; and in the 2nd half he (and his coach) was trying to force things, understandably. Anyway, it's always a good game, PNG and Dayton. My only complaint I think, was the length and slow speed of the concession stand line on the visitor side.
  2. Should read, "centers". There are several doing long snaps pre-game, every game, with Coach J. watching. I watch because one of them is mine; but anyway there still isn't any great consistency with any of them. Everyone holds their breath with each snap, and maybe that's just how it's going to be, this season. Or maybe not; maybe things will all eventually "snap" in place.
  3. Looking at some of the clips, FBM didn't look as speedy as they did earlier in the season, especially the D-backs.
  4. I plan to try that sometime. BTW, driving through Liberty, a place called Tiger Harry's looked like it was packed; the parking lot was full. If I'm not mistaken the building used to be a fish market type place, with a sign across the top that listed gar, buffalo, choupique, raccoon, etc., maybe even possum. Now the sign lists fish, steaks, chicken, and boudin. We'll have to try this place sometime as well.
  5. WR has some size and also some speed, but lots of guys playing on both sides of the ball. The final score ended up very similar to the PNG-WR final score. Have WR and Marshall played yet this season? I didn't check yet, but if not then it could be an interesting game.
  6. Homecoming + Friday the 13th = Double Whammy on the home team.
  7. Ok, wait a second - I just purchased tickets and if I read it right, this is Dayton's homecoming? Really?
  8. This one may be the big one. I say just go ahead and nuke Iran now and get it over with. To the original post, definitely prayers going up.
  9. Yep. He told them not to play and they immediately stopped until the next play was over, then they cranked up again. Then he went to the sideline and then to the bleachers and spoke to the bandleader, and they didn't play again until the game ended if I recall right. He didn't throw a flag though, for band interference, like a ref did last season in one of the playoff games.
  10. Definitely an off day for the Indians yesterday. I think they left a lot of intensity on the field after FBM, and some more in Texas City, and then have a Saturday 1pm game on the road, and they were pretty laid back, relaxed, and mostly flat, against a charged up WR team. Dropped passes, missed tackles, missed blocks, high snaps, missed coverage, motion penalties, misc other 15 yard penalties, and still scored 38, while allowing 20. Plus the band left for UIL competition immediately after what appeared to be a shortened halftime. Then in the 4th qtr near the end of the game, the refs told the WR band to stop playing. The quiet in the stadium was sort of weird, actually. All around, it was a weird game, and like someone else already said, it oddly seemed more like a practice than it did a game. I sent my usual after-game text to my grandson, and all his reply said was "the coaches are not too happy". Uh oh, practice, here we come, is what comes to my mind. Hopefully they will take it all out on Dayton next Friday.
  11. I think that PNG will likely have some "intense" (to be polite) practices this week; and hopefully will ready to go on the road again next Friday and take it all out on Dayton. We shall see.
  12. Will this game be live streamed, other than Texan Live if it will be on Texan Live? I'm picking WOS, since I've seen them play. I haven't seen HF, yet. If WOS would have kicked field goals instead of going for it a couple of times they would have beat PNG a few weeks ago.
  13. Both teams appear to have improved; and presuming no loss of major players to injury or grades, I'm thinking this game could be a toss up. SF could keep it close like Dayton did last Friday, but Ned has home field advantage and some momentum after their win last week. Going to go with the Dogs on this one.
  14. I wish the clock would just run continuously throughout for this one, for more reasons than one.
  15. TC I think, just based on a little stronger offense. FBM has a strong defense however, so it should be a close game.
  16. The first thought that came to my mind is that they are really missing their QB from last season. Don't know about last night, but last week there were two QBs swapping in and out.
  17. We didn't stop there, but saw it when we passed by. My wife said that place looks small compared to the Hyatt Regency next door, and then we both said, "Hyatt Regency?". When did that get there? Anyway, whoever suggested the "Red Bluff to NASA 1 to 45 to TC" route, thanks again, we did indeed use that route, going. WRT the TC Stings, I'm picking them to beat FBM. And for a while there I was beginning to believe that the schmooze job the TC superintendent gave the officials before the opening kickoff was going to work. Geez, the chain gang, the scorekeeper, the timekeeper, the down marker, the non-calls, and the convenient little holding and USLC calls. The whole crew. Otherwise, what a game. Bell vs Nguyen, Duran vs Bailey, plus the receivers for both teams. Great game.
  18. I was thinking along those same lines, but my wife and I both voted for it anyway. We're over 65 so our school taxes won't increase, regardless.
  19. Is Oneal's a new place? There's been several difference restaurants that tried that location in the past. Gringo's Tex-Mex in Texas City looks interesting. So does Cafe Petra.
  20. I'm not surprised at the price, with today's prices and interest rates. If the stadium in the pic with the article is a 43 million $ stadium (or maybe it was 48 mil, I don't remember), then the 94 mil$ new one could still be quite modest, especially if it includes an elevator, good seating, electronic scoreboard and all that goes with that, and a nice concession stand with multiple restrooms. Hamshire-Fannett approved a 1-1/2 mil concession stand a couple of years ago, before inflation, that I presume included restrooms.
  21. I agree on the need for PNG offense to come together; but all they need, really, is ~4 or 5 fewer dropped passes, and they'll be ok. That and perhaps an injured player or two back on offense. Also, in the FBM game, PNG had three good chances for fairly easy field goals. The final score could have easily been 16-0, with good smooth snaps and holds. Anyway I'm guessing that they'll be much improved by this Friday, but I'm still expecting a tough game.
