Thanks for the updates. Congrats on a good season Anahuac!

And LBJ is ranked 10? (Per someone's earlier post up above.)
-
Sorry if I sounded, like, snarky. The statement that you reacted to is something that I actually said at the beginning of the season, before game 1. With so many seniors, and returning starters, two very good QBs, more good receivers than I can count, a big and athletic OL, and strong RBs, pretty much the same with the defense, and what appears to be a good coaching staff, I commented somewhere (not on this forum, I haven't been here very long), that "if PNG doesn't at least get to the championship game this season, then they are missing a good chance". With almost everybody back now and somewhat healthy, except for the RB Reed, I think that they still have a good chance. We'll see, of course, beginning this Friday.

If they aren't, then they sure are missing a good chance to be.

Just solely based on a couple of videos, vs Weiss, and vs Navarro, LBJ is no FBM. (IMO, of course.) I guess that's why FBM is ranked* #5, and LBJ #20, for whatever that's worth. Perhaps there are other ranking systems? *Maxpreps

And also they could play schools like Eastside Early College? I swear I read somewhere that that game was called at halftime, with the score 96-0, LBJ; but I can't immediately find that information now. 96-0 at the half. Do the quick math and that's a TD every 2 minutes or so for 24 minutes, roughly speaking, plus another couple scores thrown in there somewhere. PNG typically plays a slow game on offense, whether run or pass, so that should help against LBJ. Edit: Per MaxPreps the score was 89-0 at halftime, so never mind my earlier rumination, now italicized, above. Anyway, I'm hoping this will be a good game for PNG, without any of the miscues and mistakes we saw last Saturday.

Why is LBJ ranked so far down the list(s)? If they are really so big and bad and fast, then it shouldn't be any worse than playing FBM at noon in a sauna in Fort Bend with their refs, and spotting them 14 points.

Port Neches-Groves (38) vs Montgomery (17) - FINAL

Yeah I saw that one; it was very similar. I wonder if Prosperie hadn't made the reception, if the ref would've thrown a flag for PI. -
Continued prayers your way.

If you can, look at the photo in the PA News, of #18 catching the pass behind the defender's back. That's a catch of the year IMO. And also IMO, there should have been a flag. No way that wasn't PI. Me and everyone else in attendance were waiting for a flag, and then I realized that he actually caught the pass. -

I don't know what happened during halftime to the PNG offense. But I'm glad they finally pulled it together at the end. -

I really thought it would be closer. TC had at least one costly turnover, per this thread. -

BTDT. -
They've had plenty of experience playing in the rain, IMO, especially 2 weeks ago vs Nederland, when they had all the rain and stormy that they could use, to gain experience. Same with midday heat. If they all are healthy and focus on their jobs rain or shine, then they'll beat anybody, including FBM and PAM.

Does anybody see a four beating a one anywhere?

Fort Bend Marshall (52) @ Dayton (21) - FINAL

Just based solely on the game I saw in Fort Bend, FBM vs PNG, Dayton at least can be glad their game wasn't at FB. If it was, late hits, holding, and face mask violations would have been much worse, and supported by the refs. Flags didn't begin flying until PNG started dishing it back at FBM. I'm recalling from memory but I seem to remember a few helmets coming off. Anyway, Dayton is in the playoffs now, and we'll see how it goes. -
I was sitting 8 rows up, near the 50 YL on the PNG side last Friday night, and I could hear the Nederland cheering team very clearly. Your cheerleaders had their student section riled up and yelling loud and often. I think all of the students there were having a blast, on both sides. Good luck to the Bulldogs this week.

Good weather forecast so far. Only 5% rain chance.
