  1. I don't know what happened during halftime to the PNG offense. But I'm glad they finally pulled it together at the end.
  2. I really thought it would be closer. TC had at least one costly turnover, per this thread.
  3. Prayed
  4. I just heard that the game will begin at 1pm tomorrow. (Edited 2 times)
  5. I think it really became a thing about two weeks ago, or maybe 3. It was after the FBM vs Ned epic lightning delay.
  6. Good thing PNG has that middle of the day playing experience now. Plus, if a kid is ambitious, with this time change he'll have time to make a quick fishing trip or perhaps a duck hunt and be back in time to play football.
  7. They've had plenty of experience playing in the rain, IMO, especially 2 weeks ago vs Nederland, when they had all the rain and stormy that they could use, to gain experience. Same with midday heat. If they all are healthy and focus on their jobs rain or shine, then they'll beat anybody, including FBM and PAM.
  8. FBM Austin Texas City Leander Belton Dayton? Elgin PNG
  9. Looks like they had a close game vs Dayton.
  10. Just based solely on the game I saw in Fort Bend, FBM vs PNG, Dayton at least can be glad their game wasn't at FB. If it was, late hits, holding, and face mask violations would have been much worse, and supported by the refs. Flags didn't begin flying until PNG started dishing it back at FBM. I'm recalling from memory but I seem to remember a few helmets coming off. Anyway, Dayton is in the playoffs now, and we'll see how it goes.
  11. I was sitting 8 rows up, near the 50 YL on the PNG side last Friday night, and I could hear the Nederland cheering team very clearly. Your cheerleaders had their student section riled up and yelling loud and often. I think all of the students there were having a blast, on both sides. Good luck to the Bulldogs this week.
  12. Good weather forecast so far. Only 5% rain chance.

    Cuero

It's been a few years since I've been through Cuero. Is Smolik's BBQ still there? We'd go through Cuero, then Yorktown and then Nordheim, and usually have dinner at Edgar & Gladys Cafe in Nordheim. Somewhere between Nordheim and Kenedy was our bird lease. Great times.
  14. TC, by a couple TDs.
  15. Go FBM!
  16. No prob. I should have qualified my earlier facile-ish comment with an "IMO". The center is a excellent lineman and a good athlete, and occasionally snaps it high, from game 1, against Memorial. I'm not criticizing him, I'm in support of him. He's a great player and I'm glad that he's on our side. Regarding the passing game(s), the unofficial stats I've seen posted on another site show "PN-G total yards as ~370, vs Nederland ~160, including the 61 yard fumble return." ... "Indians with 215 yards on the ground and 155 passing. Crippen 13 of 19 with 1 TD pass and no interceptions. Nederland 5 of 18 for 94 yards, no TDs and 2 interceptions passing. 74 yards rushing and 2 TDs. " In the first half PNG stayed on the ground, but was using pitchouts, which they hadn't done in previous games. I guess a pitchout in the rain may be considered semi-conservative. But also #33 only got a couple plays, for some reason. #3, and #18 both had turns at RB, for the first time this season. #19 has lined up as RB before, but on one play he went in motion (1st time I recall seeing that this season) and actually took the snap. The defense showed at least one new formation as well. So, overall, it was a slightly different game set for PNG; whether the weather had anything to do with it, I have no idea. Overall, like I said previously, it was a fun game to watch; I'm glad it was a close game.
  17. Did you edit your original post? I could have swore you asked if I was there last night. Anyway, yes, yes, I was there, and yes the rain definitely affected the game. I read the PANews piece this morning. Coach Joseph is a good guy.
  18. The ONLY reason the game was close was because the PNG center had an off night. Rain didn't affect the passing game too much for either team.
  19. Anything is possible if you get untimely penalties, snap the ball over the QB/punter's head a few times, and fumble a time or two, or otherwise don't hold the ball securely enough to not be knocked free. There are a few other factors as well, but these are what immediately comes to mind.
  20. Btw, PNG had a few Jrs and Sophs on the field as well. Just saying.
  21. I'm sure glad they held the line in the 1st half, though, and forced the field goal. Otherwise the score is 26-28.
  22. Apparently so; or the way the refs saw it, anyway. Coach Joseph wasn't happy about the call, though.
  23. Question: The PNG QB is back in punt formation, 4th down, and the ball was hiked over his head. He ran back, picked up the ball and spiked it. The refs spotted the ball back where he spiked it, rather than at the line of scrimmage. If a spike is an incomplete pass, then why not put the ball back at the line of scrimmage? If it's not an incomplete pass, then isn't it a fumble? If so then the Nederland player could have picked it up and ran.
