  1. Apparently they guessed it. I'm interested who they pick between Santa Fe vs Texas City.
  2. I haven't watched this game; but SF seems to be having a better season over all. It's possible they could make the playoffs; their game vs TC will be interesting.
  3. There's not a lot of information on Willowridge, except that they beat Galena Park and lost to Nederland. I look for #15 to play a bit more than he did against TC. Also several back-ups will start again on defense. PNG should be expected to take it, just based on comparisons and other posts that I see.
  4. And Ned did not, under the same circumstances presumably. But anyway, I would expect a close game, if no turnovers, etc, and I'm pulling for the bulldogs.
  5. +1 It's a toss-up on paper but I'm going with Nederland. Santa Fe scored 27 against Dayton, but Nederland did well against PAM for at least a half, so there's that. Still, past performance does not guarantee future results, whether it be stocks or HS football.
  6. Yeah, it's a little confusing. But the PNG and Willowridge sites both show @ PNG at 7 pm. Btw, both starting middle linebackers were sidelined for the TC game. The backup middle LB was out for the WOS game but played the entire TC game. A Soph LB was brought up and played the entire game also. There were 2 others not suited up for TC or FBM, a DB and a fullback. All of the backups did good by and large as far as I could tell. And they are getting some good experience. But it'll be good to get all of the Sr starters well and back in action by the time they play Dayton. (Not to overlook Willowridge of course.)

  8. Where can you find the stats for these games?
  9. A good friend of mine is a policeman investigator working in theft division (in another state, not Texas). He told me that one morning his first 3 phone calls of the day were a woman telling him that she could do his job better than him, a guy that told him he would have him fired by noon, and another guy that had been convicted of stealing that wanted the stolen property, saying he had served his sentence and paid his fine, so the stolen property should rightly be his. My policeman friend was telling this to a friend who happens to be a local HS coach, and the coach just nodded, smiled and said "well at least your job success doesn't depend on 16 year old kids".
  10. Me too. I've never seen a bye week hurt a team so much as it did PNG last week. They'll get it back together for this coming Friday.
  11. 1.Tough game. Too hot! 2. Nice stadium. 3. Very poor officiating, especially in the first Qtr, and on both sides of the ball. PNG offense needs to learn how to hold, everyone's doing it, and it doesn't get called except ~10% of the time, even when it's blatant. 4. FBM is one of those teams that does very well on broken plays, blown coverage, QB scrambles, 3rd&4th downs, etc. Wears a defense out. 5. PNG DBs gave FBM's tall receiver 10-15 yard passes all day long. I bet he caught short passes for the majority of FBM's first downs, maybe even half of them. 6. FBM's QB was really on target today, and effective. PNG's #11 threw with his weight on his back foot pretty much all day, like he was falling backward, and was late to the target way too often, long after the receivers were open. He's a good kid, but he had a bad outing. 7. PNG really missed Reed. That's a very tough loss right there. Kudos to #33 and others that did their best, and had several good runs. 8. Bottom line, the fumbled punt that pretty much gave FBM their 1st TD, and the following TD with help of the refs, put PNG in a 14-0 hole that they couldn't get out of. Other than that it was a good hard fought game.
  12. ... and Hamshire Fannett. In fact you don't have to live in Hamshire or Fannett in order to attend there, if you have the money to pay the fee or whatever. Lots of Beaumonters go there based on what I hear.
  13. The old Charlton Pollard and Hebert HSs had some great football teams, and basketball too. French HS had some very good basketball teams, and good football for a few years, and went to state one year. I moved away from the area for a few years, and when I returned in the late 90s, IIRC there was Central, and Westbrook and maybe BCP. I moved off again, and returned in 2015, and there was Ozen, and Central. Since then it seems every time I turn around there's a new school, and now there's BU, and Westbrook. I know things change, but I can't recall seeing so much change for HSs in a town. Anyway, I hope it gets better for the kids, now and going forward.
  14. Wow! Go LaPorte!
  15. OOOHH, man, I love this article. What a set-up!! Go Indians!
  16. I don't know anything about it, but I'm hoping he'll be back, and hopefully by mid season. And I'm not saying this with regard to the team, although he's greatly missed, of course. I'm saying it for him. It's his Sr year and he obviously loves to play football.
  17. Why is this game time in the middle of the day? I think the players will be ok, but I don't think all of the folks in the stands will be. Umbrellas aren't allowed in most stadiums now, so I'll be wearing my wide brimmed golf hat.
  18. 12:00? Or 1:00. I think it's the same situation as the WOS game; if PNG really wants it, they will take it to FBM.
  19. It's been that way since the git-go; always been that way. (But I think this mob mentality is getting worse, and more widespread.) I remember a co-worker that moved to SETX from the Newark New Jersey / Staten Island New York area back in the early '80s, and he was amazed that the HS football games here were at night. Their games up there were on weekday afternoons, or maybe Saturday morning. He really didn't give a direct answer when I asked why, but the inference was that it cut down on the violence and crime. These days I wonder if it makes any difference.
  20. I agree. Further, I think PNG and PAM did each other a great big favor in week 1. PNG coaches and players both learned some things, and some new PNG players had to step up, and got good experience in the process. And PAM needs to be sending fruit baskets and donuts over to the PNG fieldhouse, they won't get another gift like that game for the rest of this season.
  21. Stats are on line in either PANews or Bmt E. PNG had Abt 390 total, to WOS Abt 200 total that was mostly passing including their 55 yd TD pass.
  22. PN-G's Shea Adams says...the quotes above did not age well. Go Indians. I was amazed that folks seemed amazed that I said PNG should win. But, this is high school football and we are all partial to our schools, and that's how it should be. The banter is fun. Best to WOS and PNG for the upcoming district games.
  23. I was expecting more speed from WOS, even though watching live stream can be deceiving. Good game for the PNG players and coaches tonight.
  24. You're off topic, and irrelevant as far as the kids that happen to be attending that school at the moment. The school board could change the team name to the welders or pipefitters tonight and the kids will still show up tomorrow night and play, and not mean any harm at all to welders or pipefitters.
