  1. Ned D is tired, but WOS penalties are helping.
  2. WOS, good defense, lots of dropped passes. Nederland RB can't get going. Defense hanging in there.
  3. Ha! What amazed me was how nonchalant the receiver was about it.
  4. That was a dropped pass, perhaps a dropped TD pass.
  5. WOS by 14. 28-14, or maybe 21-7.
  6. I scrolled thru the 1 st half on TSBN. Lake Creek ran a no-huddle semi-hurry-up offense and moved the ball for the 1st qtr but fumbled and stalled the first two times they got inside the 20 yl. The fumble was picked up by Magnolia and returned for their first TD. The score at the end of 1 qtr was 7-7. But by the half, Magnolia offense and defense had found their game, and the score at the half was 35-7 Magnolia. LC pass defense wasn't too good in the 2nd qtr, and the defense got spread out a bit. Their O line looks big, especially the rt tackle. The one extra point that I saw, they spread guys way out wide like they're going for 2, then end up kicking the xtra point, just like they did last season in the playoff game against PNG.
  7. PNG defense will get better. Several starters sat out this game I think, including ILB #43. Some of the backups looked pretty good, on both sides of the ball. The special teams will see changes as the season gets into district play, and even more so for playoffs, (without getting ahead of myself). KO has some good athletes, size and speed, but not enough discipline. The young man that touched the ball for KO on the punt return learned a good lesson, and so did the KO coaches, who are just as much to blame for a play like that, IMO. KO gave away lots of points, but I think they could be pretty good going forward, as well as PNG.
  8. So, I presume that SOC lost this game, 0-38, just based on the game comments, not the posted scores. Edit: 38-0? NS was the visitor?
  9. Lots of holding all night. Especially the lineman trying to block PNG's #94.
  10. Yeah, they've run Blair on the same up-the-middle play about 15 times so far. But for the past 3 years, PNG's first game is basically their second scrimmage.
  11. It's a new season and a new team, for PNG. And a new offense coach. They look rusty, but we'll see what happens in the 2nd half. KO ain't worried about pre-season ranking, that's for sure. They're running the ball well for the most part.
  12. Yes, it's too hot for practice. I played 18 holes of golf yesterday, from ~8:30 - 12:30, then worked in our garden yesterday afternoon, and it was way too hot for this 72 year old. So, those youngsters should definitely stay inside and drink Liquid IV or Gatoraid or whatever. Edit: There was an good moving tide yesterday morning and evening. Not too hot to fish, but sometimes choices must be made.
  13. It's about time. The end of a long era, but it's just the HQ.
  14. Absolutely incredible, and just absolutely horrible. My prayers for her family and friends, and for her students.
  15. What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but an analysis by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
  16. He's with it enough to do what he's told, beginning day 1 when he signed the order to revoke the Keystone Pipeline project. But more recently, he's protecting the DOJ, as well as himself ... [Hidden Content]
  17. Interesting piece ... [Hidden Content] Texas Speaker Dade Phelan turned the tide to keep,an army of campaign staffers.
  18. Thanks for the info, I didn't check the primary vote count. I was posing that, based on anecdotal evidence, many who did not vote in the primary showed up for the runoff, and apparently voted for Phelan. My next door neighbors were two that voted runoff only and voted for Covey, so it went both ways I guess. The Houston Chronicle posted quotes from Covey accusing many Dems of voting in the runoff. Obviously if they were able to vote in the runoff then they didn't vote in the primary, unless the voted in the Rep primary to begin with of course. . "Covey’s campaign released a lengthy statement after the results came in, calling Phelan an “Austin swamp creature and King of the Democrats.” The campaign accused Phelan of courting Democrat voters in Jefferson County to bolster his early vote numbers, but Covey did not say he would seek a recount." Anyway, it looks like it's a done deal, until November.
