They were good. Some years were lower, but the numbers were always up there. Jeff was well liked by ALL THE ATHLETES -

Yeah i hear he is not well liked though… rumors as always get stirred up, and I think they are working in a new offensive scheme truthfully, but starting with a new group of freshman instead of trying to implement it in one offseason with the varsity. Theres rumor of jeff making a return, but think that rumor has been going around since the day he announced his retirement😂 not sure if theres any validity to that at all or just speculation Im hopeful for the next few years, dubois just has to find a way to get involvement from the rest of the kids in the school, and i think he can do it, but all we can do is give him time -

Yup that is true, but also do not think dubois is going anywhere. I think theres a plan in place, to slowly develop away from slot t 100% of the time, why else would the freshman class be working out of shotgun? Thats the only thing i can think of -

I agree with definitely needing to be more creative, i think that in and of itself would bring numbers back up. Mix in more formations, passing concepts, run a multiple scheme system like some schools do. Mix in the slot t with some spread, screens, make it more of a challenge to defend against -
Gonna go on a limb and say vidor keeps this close they clean up the miscues on offense, and make this a game. But gonna go with Huffman by 10
-
Think BC and Huffman will be the teams fighting for first. Will see first hand how huffman looks this friday

I fully agree, i wish there was more participation, but like Tiger33 said, i think the style of play does discourage some kids to play for vidor, but if we wont open up the system, coach dubois needs to find a way to connect with those kids, and sell his vision in order to get participation. Thats one thing i liked about jeff. When i was there jeff was always talking to the kids, always in the halls. He was seen, and heard all the time and i think it definitely spurred some more involvement than what we are seeing. (Just my opinion in the involvement part) I have no kids in the system, and nobody i know at the school anymore so im not sure if dubois is the same way, but i do see dubois at all the football events, so hes definitely there and interacting with the lowerclassmen that way. (I only go to football and some baseball so i use that as my example) I like dubois, and hes a heck of a guy, so lets see what he can scheme up in the next few years and see what happens(: Im confident about it, and i still encourage the people who are dissing on the program to go watch a Thursday night home game and formulate ur own opinion about the upcoming years of pirate football. -

Yeah some of that goes on too i believe. I would love to run the offense that vanderbuilt was running. Alot of options with that style of play. i still think the slot t can have a great passing game attached to it, but would involve having teams spread out (similar to what laporte runs, not sure if you want to call that a slot t or more so a west coast style scheme) -

Hes always been bashing the program, like a troll when the teams down, and disappears after wins -

Yes, and i hope that its a consistent thing moving forward that vidor does go to the multiple set look. It may even bring some excitement to the program and get numbers back up again -

I can agree with that. I wish we were more open offensively, i love the slot t, but i also wish we could spread the ball out, and run multiple sets, and ive seen the freshman group take shotgun snaps pregame with the freshman offense.. so maybe thats in the plan? idk if it was for scout team stuff, or working on it for themselves, but it was a nice changeup, and it looked really good they run slot t during the games, but part of me thinks theyll break that out sometime this year and mix up the offense by running shotgun, and slot t in the same game -

Nah im not saying that at all, but there’s rarely times where we have athletes across the field at every position, atleast from my recollection.. I got into vidor football hardcore Montanas junior year, and thats as far back as my memory goes with that lol Could coaching be better? Yeah sure, it can always be better, but to say both of those coaches are bad coaches is a stretch to me. -

Things will improve, just have to let it play out.. the next few years will be fun for us vidor fans in my opinion. -

QB started at TB in years past, stankovich played both sides some this year and last. Vidor is just thin on the RB group this year, especially with Marlowe suspended, and the starting HB quitting before the season. -

Not bashing the kids either. Just this year we dont have it, kids play hard, and to the best of their abilities, and i hope they can stream some wins together, perhaps play spoiler and go out on a good note. -

And ur an expert on coaching football? If you dont have TALENT it doesnt matter how good of a coach you are, coaching can only do so much, at the end of the day its about the athletes on the field. Plain and simple. Great coaches can look mediocre if they have no talent, and bad coaching can look decent with good talent. The players are the deciding factor in it all. Its literally that simple. This is highschool sports, you dont get to handpick kids from thousands of the best athletes around the country. Some years you got the horses; some you dont, and coaching can only cover up so much. At the end of the day it reverts back to what ive said before, some years you have it, some you dont, and this year is no different. -

Crazy the upheaval over this, people gotta understand, new HC, some players quitting, when a guy like jeff leaves there is gonna be turnover and change. Just from a cultural standpoint. Jeff is a great dude, and is hard to replace, record aside, what he has done for the program and the kids. I definitely think Dubois can get it done, and build a consistent program, but cannot bet the house on the first year or two. Give Dubois a chance with the kids coming up and let him work. As ive said before, a great class coming up, if you think the issue lies with the offense, go watch a thursday game and see the difference. Youll be pleasantly surprised at how well the offense is run when you have the kids to do it. Sometimes some groups just dont have the athletes, or the numbers. The Slot T is not a simple offense to run even tho it looks like it. Offensive line is the cog that runs it, and its extremely complex in the trenches with blocking schemes based on defensive alignment. Something as little as a poor first step by a pulling guard is enough to completely blow a play up. Not the end of the world. Vidor is not, and never has been a power house, so the idea we should dominate these teams year in and year out is questionable at best. Some years are good, some years are not. -
Well, looks like huffman will be back to their usual selfs from when vidor first moved down. First place in this district is definitely gonna earn it
-
Dont think vidor will fair much better this upcoming week… huffman seems to have a good squad?

Much improved compared to last year and it isnt close, think if BC doesnt move up they still compete against them. -
Gonna go with HF in a nail biter. Silsbee defense will keep them in this game. Just think HF has to many weapons in the long run

Alot of unhappy people in vidor it seems Just a down year guys, dont jump ship. Itll get rolling. It isnt going to be great every year. All programs have ups and downs, unless your carthage, north shore, duncanville, or the teams in 9-4AD1 lol got some good athletes coming through the system Cant blame the offensive scheme tho. The freshman group is running the same thing and is absolutely dominating teams. Just keep supporting the kids, and program, and let the cards fall how they may. -

Good question. Maybe just one of those years where not alot of football players? Im surprised aswell because usually vidor has a good # of players suited
