Both Tyler schools have indoors. Lindale, Tatum.... Kilgore but not sure if it's a full 100 yards, think it's similar to Lufkin's. Longview has an indoor "turf room" but about to break ground on one of the top indoor facilities in the state. It'll rival Melissa's.

Talent won't be the question with Lufkin (although the jury is still out on the OL). Coaching will always be the question. The floor in this district for Lufkin is playoffs, thanks in part to how bad Beaumont ISD and Sterling are. Ceiling? A district title would involve Lufkin beating that PAM defense on the road....while also holding off a Barbers Hill team at home that fits the description of teams that Lufkin has seemed to struggle against as of late. Oh and by the way....on the road to Galveston to take on a Ball team that has 14 starters back from 9-2, including double digit D1 players and the only D1 QB in the district. I don't know that anyone could accurately predict that at this time. I'm actually surprised that more people aren't talking about Ball. 14 starters back from 9-2? Their 2 losses were by 7 and 6 points. Back to back district titles. Believe they're getting PAM, Barbers Hill and Lufkin at home too.

I can't believe that some on here were saying 8-5A would go 3-1 against 7-5A....too funny.
-
Not a chance. More like 1-3.
-
Offensive.
-
When the right lineup is out there, I wouldn't call it the weakest. Willie, Buddha, Chase and Simmons will all probably play DI ball. But the DL is by far the best part of the defense. He just doesn't have an eye for talent.

I would say that title belongs to one of the Mesquite schools.

You know who said it lol

"Average DL" - 14.2
-
Hmm. Not bad for that ol' average Lobo DL!
-
14.2 gonna learn today. He assured us that Crosby would have no problem stopping the run. Well what happened? Taylor Tatum with almost 200 on the ground tonight. Alijah Johnson had 100+ himself. 14.2 got some explaining to do!
-
I think he assumed Longview was Carthage. Oh wait, Crosby can't beat them either! Have to be able to beat the little guys before you can stump with the big dogs!
-
Yep. Forney hanging in there with BH too. But, after Longview and Lancaster....the other 4 best teams in the two districts were in 8-5A. At least according to ol 14.2. Dude doesn't have a clue what he's talking about 85% of the time. Damn near wrong about everything.
-
14.2 punching air right now.
-
A little trickery and wet weather....weird things happen. Have you ever watched a football game? Guyer is struggling right now too...doesn't mean they're any less of a team people raved them to be before tonight. Your OL can't block LV's DL.
-
Interesting. 14.2 down played Longview's DL all week. Very interesting indeed. 4 first half TDs for Taylor Tatum and Alijah Johnson has also ran wild on Crosby tonight. Doesn't really fit what 14.2 was saying about Crosby's run defense.....

Yeah, that one made me chuckle. King is one of the highest paid coaches in the state for a reason.
-
This is the exact reason why I laugh in the face of people that are always yelling about D1 this and D1 that. D1 isn't about talent all the time. Athletes have to check a lot of boxes to get those looks. Genetics, grades, camps, visits....all of that goes into it. In LV's case, you hit the nail on the head. Sheppard, JJ and Billy Smith are pretty dang talented. LV has had DLs with multiple D1 signees before....none of them touch the '22 defensive line.
-
Longview's DL numbers are actually great, especially considering those 4 average like 2.5 quarters a game in playing time. No DL in 5ADI has gotten to the QB or in the backfield this season as much as LV has. Only 4 in 6A have and no....CE King is not one of them. PAM is nothing like Longview.
-
Crosby will have to block all 4 up front. (45) JJ Rougley (Longview career sack leader) - 8 sacks (led the district), 11 TFL (99) Billy Smith - 7.5 sacks, 9 TFL (96) Omarion Watkins - 3 sacks, 13 TFL (led the district) (55) Xaryus Sheppard (Lancaster couldn't block this dude) - 7.5 sacks, 11 TFL They're all dangerous, as you can see. Longview has a 5th DL Wright (65) with an additional 4 sacks, 10 TFL.

And what often gets forgotten is Longview has TWO WRs with DI offers. He kinda stands in the shadow of Hale but you absolutely cannot forget about DK Reese (#11) either, the JR 6'3 175 pound specimen on the other side of Hale. I think his number gets called more in this playoff run. Same can be said about the backfield. Tatum is Tatum but sleeping on Alijah Johnson (#15) is not recommended. It's going to be hard to defend this Longview offense, and that to me is the crazy part about this matchup. Because the Crosby offense is already going to have their hands beyond full with the Lobo defense.
