Anderson-Shiro (27) @ Woodville (48) - FINAL

Yes I was surprised how decent AS appeared to be. The amount of points scored on Woodville’s defense was alarming but hey…moving on -
Anderson-Shiro (27) @ Woodville (48) - FINAL

Woodville seems to self destruct with the unnecessary penalties and the defense appeared to have been uncharacteristically out of position, getting burned, etc which was odd. I can’t put my finger on what is going on with this team, but something has to change. Not hating, just calling it how I see it. -
Yea I was just trying to predict the final score before it ended. Seems as if the Figs are meshing at the right time!
-
58-0 Final with running clock….
-
Would be nice if the Figs met up with Woodville in the playoffs but I’m definitely not holding my breath for Wville…
-
58-6 Purple Figs with a running clock in the 4th….
-
Newton certainly is the standard. Let’s just see if Woodville can get past the second round in this lower division. Good luck the rest of the way to the Purple Figs!
-
Yea it won’t last…
-
Couldn’t agree more…
-
It’s crazy how one guy carries the entire team…actually, it’s 3A ball so it’s not too out of the realm of possibility!
-
I guess when you have a team like Newton, you only need 1 playmaker and we all know who that is
-
Well that’s the ballgame folks…Woodville goes down again to a one dimensional Newton 🤣
-
Yea not too sure about that “first down” 👀

No one in their right mind will be surprised if the FIGS win, but I don't believe it will be an upset if Woodville wins. I honestly believe penalties and coaching (play calling, clock management etc) will be the deciding factor in this game which gives the advantage toward the FIGS...
-
Oh and to add to my perspective on this game, It would be a shame to not include the coaching...How will Woodville's coaching play a factor in the overall outcome? I'll save my opinions until after the game because if the past is a predictor of the future, WE ALL KNOW WHAT THE RESULTS WILL BE so what say ye!

Another thought on this game....Woodville must keep Newton's "chunk plays" to a minimum. Newton will have plays where they take it 45-50 yards, but can Woodville minimize those explosive plays and keep the figs down in distance and behind the chains for the majority of the game? Also, Woodville's defensive front must be sound & focused on their specific assignment each play because if not, the Figs will exploit said missed assignments at the drop of a dime. Newton's passing attack is bland at best so I don't see them gaining an advantage in that area, but then again, they can (and will) dump it off to their backs and easily gain 15-20 yards on those simple passing routes. We could also see the Figs attack Woodville for the majority of the night running the ball and attempting to fatigue the defense as most as possible. Newton has no kicking game as far as extra points so WHEN they score, Woodville must keep the 2 point conversion % to a minimum. As far as the penalties committed by Woodville in all three phrases of the game, I'm not about to write a thesis on that because we all know how this team can implode extremely quickly. Their offense is capable of putting up points with the passing/running attack but who knows.....All in all, give me the eagles in a close one - (32 to 28)

Give me Woodville IF (big if) they can keep the self-inflicted penalties in check.

Orangefield by a lot
-
Give me The ORANGEMEN by as many as they want against EC and Coldspring. Yes, Anahuac has athletes, but that’s irrelevant if said athletes are undisciplined and dare I say not focused in the slightest bit. I’d rather have a team of lesser “athletes” yet are sound, focused, and executes the game plan any day of the week compared to solely athletes who get whipped up front and won’t tackle. If the ORANGE proves me wrong, I’ll eat my crow on a buccaneer platter with a side of alligator!
-
🤣 At Gator Country because there was nothing smothering about Anahuac’s defense on the field.
-
I didn't have a dog in the fight but it was so rewarding for me to see THE ORANGEMEN absolutely THROTTLE Anahuac. MEN amongst boys in my opinion. If you all remain focused and grow from this game, the skies the limit!
-
Give me THE ORANGEMEN for the district title! Absolutely no one will come close to challenging them the remainder of the games in district if they continue to play lights out like they did tonight and if some other team does, I’ll be extremely surprised!
