Honest question…can we truly put much stock in these pre district games? It’s a whole different game when district starts..just my humble opinion

What I think will set them apart is cutting down on the penalties, turnovers, and coaching adjustments

I’m sure it’ll feel great for Woodville to not lose another game from next week until the final district game. It certainly can be done and I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens

I agree with you 100%. Playing top notch competition the first two games is no slouch. I would say about 90% of teams wouldn’t dare schedule back to back teams on the caliber of Franklin and Newton. It should bode well for Woodville down the stretch. I’m sure they’re not happy about the result but shouldn’t be discouraged. Keeping their focus and continuing to grow is what they need to do.

Hmmm I know this is probably against UIL rules, but my thought is that Woodville should take these last two non district games and rest (forfeit), figure out their identity as a team (coaches included) and start district play on a clean slate. What say ye???

The broadcast wasn’t working earlier for me. What’s going on with Woodville’s defense? Is Newton that good, is it due to a lack of film? I’m flabbergasted and the last play with 1 second on the clock is mind boggling to me.

It’s been quiet on Newton’s end, but no matter what, the game will speak for itself. As we all know, Newton will be Newton. What’s understood does not have to be explained 🤷🏾‍♂️

Why would the officials be blamed for the loss?

A few players from Woodville’s D were missing? Hmm that’s interesting and quite impressive considering that. Are these major injuries or will they be back before district? On another note, what’s up with those decisions/offensive formations on 3rd and 4th downs with only a few yards to gain a 1st down? You would think that the QB would take it upon himself to check into a QB sneak, power I, etc but hey, I guess that’s a topic for another time right?

Newton will have an advantage In the film room watching Woodville against Franklin. I’m sure Woodville would have loved to have film on Newton against Anahuac, but hey, such is life. I’m hoping for another great game between the two, with each team playing mistake free (as much as possible) football, and no major injuries. It sure will be interesting!!

With Woodville coming off a close lose to defending state champion Franklin and Newton’s game against Anahuac being canceled, what’s your take on this highly anticipated matchup?

No such thing as moral victories in my book. Stay focused Woodville, learn from this game, keep getting better, and the sky’s the limit. I personally wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch with Franklin in the playoffs!

Great game and congrats to Franklin. It would be nice to have a rematch in the playoffs. In my opinion, this should be the best game in the state at the 3A level

If woodville plays like this for the rest of the season and learns from this game, the rest of the district should be extremely concerned!!!
