Huffman Hargrave 65 Houston Worthing 49/FINAL
Kountzer replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Good win Huffman. I wasn't expecting Worthing to win. I attend church in that area off Scott St., a little further South. The name of the church is the World Harvest Seventh Day Adventist Church, in case you were wondering. I deacon there. I pass by Worthing all the time. There was this long time coach at Worthing, coach Benny Roy. His brother in law married my maternal Aunt. I know it is complicated. Anyway I know the family. When I think of Worthing I think of him. Both coach Roy & his wife were hisd educators. They inspired their children to do great things. Benny Jr graduated from Tx A & M and is a chemical engineer living in San Diego. His sister has a masters degree in music from U of H. There is more to life than basketball. -
Hardin-Jefferson 58 Houston Washington 56/FINAL
Kountzer replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I was kind of hoping Houston Washington would win, but I really didn't care either way. I've spoken to their coach a few times. He is a really nice guy. I hate to say it, but I don't know his name. I do know him when I see him an vice versa. He is a nice young man, who is really outgoing. He has a conversation for everyone. He is from Mississippi. He is putting a lot of effort into building that program up. I like and respect the hawks just the same. That is a legendary program. I am not surprised they pulled it out. Me and the Washington coach will have something to talk about next time I see him, and I do plan to learn his name. -
Wow.

I can't remember the first time I met Pinetree. I think it was before kindergarten. I got a lot of respect for him and what he does in the Silsbee community. Having said that, Silsbee being # 1 in basketball only goes so far. People like to see & hear about state championships. They are kind of jaded with # one rankings. That sounds cold but that is how it goes. If Silsbee doesn't win it all this season I am still proud of them. But you only get the real show 'nuff accolades until you reach the next level.

Possible HJ vs Silsbee 2nd round game
Kountzer replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
HJ had 5 or 6 scouts watching Houston Washington vs Yates the other day. I am sure they had as many at the Silsbee vs Huntington game. They will be as ready as they can be. -
If a player is closing in for a layup and the defensive player comes up from behind and slams him out of bounds that is a flagrant foul. If it happens 2 or 3 times that is not basketball that is thuggery. If the defensive player doesn't have the athletic ability to stop the lay up let it go. You can get someone seriously injured like that. Stick to football.

Good shooting from the outside! Especially Jordyn Adams! Nice.!

I left after the 3rd quarter. Silsbee has a hole in the middle of their defense once an opponent breaks the press. I guess that's how the press works. #1 Huntington was fouling a lot playing wild. I the refs can't see everything. Silsbee showed a lot of composure. I am glad no one got hurt. On to the next level.

Huntington VS #1☆Silsbee☆ 1st Round
Kountzer replied to Who That's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Let me see. I remember listening to Silsbee play basketball on the radio back in 1968. They had Ralph Davenport and Manuel Tyler on that team. Were you born then? I doubt it. I saw them in person in 1969-70. 1970-1971, and on and on. When I was in the military I followed them via the newspaper. No internet back then. I've probably forgotten more information about my team than you ever knew or know about yours. -
I know, I know. Journalists are always wrong & der Trump is always right.

Huntington VS #1☆Silsbee☆ 1st Round
Kountzer replied to Who That's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I was caught up in flooding up in Bryan Tx back last March. I got video on facebook to prove it. Still, I may show up. I haven't made my mind up yet. If all goes to plan this game should be boring by halftime. -
I didn't know there was such a phone program. I work two jobs so I can have wifi and wireless. Too much red tape and too many red necks to try for such a phone. I'd just as soon pay att and verizon.

Huntington VS #1☆Silsbee☆ 1st Round

Someone is trying to get in Silsbee player's heads and start some drama like a few weeks ago. That is their best option. -
Huntington VS #1☆Silsbee☆ 1st Round
Kountzer replied to Who That's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Hmm. Decisions. The good: I'm off work Monday. The bad: weather forecast for Houston is thunderstorms, 100% chance of rain. The weather forecast for Livingston is heavy thunderstorms. Do I want to risk driving in all of that to watch what will probably be a lopsided victory? I don't know. I've made similar trips like this before, and I may do it again. -

Kountzer replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Bum rush Friday at work. They could of been playing in the parking lot and I wouldn't of had time to see it. Atascosita played Pearland at 5, but it was over by the time I got off work at 6:: 51pm. -
Harris County to decriminalize pot possession under 4oz
Kountzer replied to PhatMack19's topic in Political Forum
If you hang around long enough you'll see a lot of stuff change. Back when I stll lived in Silsbee as a young guy I hung around with the mj smoking crowd. I smoked mj trying to fit in with those peers. I knew of folks who got busted. Finding a job with a clean record is hard enough. Once u have a drug felony on your record you can forget it, especially if you are black. I stopped before that happened to me. Being high never made since anyway. Here you are walking around with your head messed up and you are already behind in many ways. I never was a heavy smoker of mj. I never did smoke tobacco. I stopped completely in '84 when I joined the church. Weed is definitely a gateway drug. Back then, maybe 40 years ago is was fun and games. It was like playing hide & seek with the police. These days, from what I've seen on tv, simple weed deals will get you shot and killed. Anyway I stopped. Even if it is totally legalized I would not have anything to do with it. There is a literal God and there is a literal devil. The bible says the devil walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Black, white conservative, whatever. He wants to take us out. And there you are high. No thank you.
