  1. The fact that Conroe HS beat College Park by 17, 82 to 65 is shocking somewhat. Q Grimes scored a pedestrian 23 pts for college park.
  2. Good move by the dad. Do the books. This sports jibber jabber will only take you so far.
  3. Back to my first assumption, grades. Glad to here he will be back.
  4. Speculation: him & SPD had a disagreement. or, him & coach Sigler had a disagreement, or him & a co-ed had a disagreement, or maybe all three.
  5. What then? Hit me with an answer in msgs. If it is not an injury or grades, I'm scared to ask.
  6. Grades probably.
  7. We've reached the horse latitudes on the season. Things probably won't get interesting again this season until the playoffs.
  8. Trudat, but if the shoe was on the other foot I'd be all over in the girl's volleyball forum talking smack, and I would not be the only Silsbee fan doing it.
  9. Anyone have Wille Jones III's injury status? What is his eta for getting back on the court?
  10. That's the proverbial question riding in the back of my mind as I read through out this thread. Still, good win Tigers. This could be the year. Much respect to WOS for all they have accomplished.
  11. It doesn't take much for issues to re-surface when it's Silsbee vs WOS or vice versa. I say let the game speak for itself. Hopefully nobody gets jumped.
  12. The Lamarque ISD was shut down & taken over by another school district, Texas City I believe. It is probably hard to field a stable basketball team when the ISD itself is unstable, or non existent.
  13. I work in a dps driver license office. They call it the DMV but we don't do anything with car sales, titles etc. I've seen the ole 'pay em with pennies' trick used once before. It wasn't this large a transaction. It was only $25.00 or so. I am glad it wasn't me who had to deal with that. The vast majority people want to get out of there so they pay in an appropriate manner and leave.
  14. Willie Jones is injured. Where was Michael McCain? Who was the key reserve that didn't play?
  15. My dad is bi-racial. I had a white grandfather. I assume he was white. More than likely he was caucasian, as opposed to being mexican or from some other racial group. I am sure he was not black, for what that's worth. I don't know much about that side of my DNA. All this happened in Bryan, Tx. My mom & my dad divorced when I was about 5. I met him again when i was 25 or so, out in LA, Cali. I met his side of the family when I was about 27 or 28. When I say his side of the family I am talking about my grandmother and her children, my aunts and uncles. I never met this grandmother, so I am a bit more candid than I probably should be. I hardly know this side of my life, unfortunately. Anyway, she had six children. Three were bi racial, three were from black men. Call it what you will, but biologically that is what happened, or so I've been told. If you look at the extended family it is obvious. Once when I was about 28 or so, I was in Bryan attending a funeral for one of my Aunts, who I never got to meet. That was a strange feeling. As we were walking from the grave site, one of the Aunts who I had met said to me "Darryl, look at me". And I did. She looked just like my dad, who had passed away by this time. That was her way of telling me that she & my dad not only had the same mother, they had the same biological father as well. Race, sex & ethnicity in America, especially in the South. It is a deep subject. Side note: quite a few of my relatives in Bryan are resonably doing good. Several of them, both the light skinned and the darker ones, are college graduates. Some of them went to Prairie View, some to Sam Hous st, UH UT, but none chose to attend Tx A&M. I am not sure why that is. Not trying to throw shade at A&M but that is what happened. I need to end this.
  16. I've seen where LCM has made some noise in the games & tournaments they've played in. Silsbee should win. Keep the injuries to a minimal. Hopefully the tigers will have some playoff games in the greater Houston area that I can attend.
  17. Being ranked # 1 after the championship game is all that counts. I think, at least I hope, Silsbee the team, is in a good place with their # 1 ranking. It is an honor, but it is not the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal of course is winning state. So far this season they have played a lot of strong teams, and held their own. They met D Lincoln on the court and won, so they know it can be done. They will probably meet Yates and hopefully can handle them as well. Time will tell. They have played at least three teams with good height, as in a 6'9" post in the middle. So running into a team with that kind of height in the playoffs should not rattle them. They got past the semi final game at the state tournament, finally. I am not taking getting to that level lightly, but it is a step that should happen. They came within 3 pts on winning the championship. But...there's a lot of basketball to be played. I am getting ahead of myself.
  18. The Silsbee Tigers usually play one or two playoff games in the greater Houston area. I usually make it to one of those games. That is probably what will happen this year.
  19. My name is confusing because people think I am a Kountze fan, but I am really a Silsbee fan. I was born in Kountze, but that is about it. I grew up and I am attached to Silsbee. I may change it one day, then again maybe not. It is just a message board name.
  20. Oh well, so much for the idea of leaving Houston after work tomorrow, and jumping on I-10 and making it to the game.
  21. I'm not trying to tell Coach Sigler how to do his job, but hopefully Michael McCain gets back on the court soon.
  22. barring the unforeseen the next big game will be Yates.
  23. Interracial couples easier on the eyes than gay couples.
  24. Yes. I've said this often.
