  1. Silsbee is a weak ft shooting team. They're streaky from the outside in general. If they hit their free throws they would of won all three games they have lost. They probably would of beat D Lincoln in SA as well. But what can you do? As a fan all you can do is sit back, watch the season unfold, and hope for the best.
  2. Okay, if you're in a tournament, pool play. Your team, (hightower) plays at 9am then again at 430pm. The other two schools play at 9am and at 130pm (baytown sterling), or at 130pm at 430pm (Silsbee). Is that a coincidence? No. If you say it is you haven't been playing attention. Fatigue is or was a factor. Maybe not a big factor but it provides a little edge nonetheless. They've been doing that kinda stuff in tournaments for years. Also, I understand these are 16 & 17 year olds, who play aau all summer. Still they can get tired in a game. That's been Coach Sigler's mo all the time. He played it almost to perfection last year, all the way to the state final game, where they have never been before. Do you think Silsbee has beaten all these teams on talent alone? Nah. The tigers have talent, no doubt. It is their bench, and subbing in 5 at a time, taking the other teams legs out, which facilitated those wins. In other words fatigue. Sigler ain't running the press, as soon as they get off the bus, just because that's all he knows. If he had a 6'9 230 lb post, like that kid at Alief Taylor, I am sure Coach would mix in a few more half court sets, etc. That's not the kind of teams he has or gets on a year in year out basis. He mostly has relatively short teams that are full of runners. So he runs the other team until they get tired. it is that simple. This is not rocket science.
  3. Congratulations to the Silsbee Tigers basketball for the two wins this weekend versus Cleveland, and LaMarque. Now for a week & 1/2 rest during the holiday. Get some practice in, then Waxahachie in the DISD tournament on 12/28/16. Waxahachie lost to Cibolo Steele by one point 67-66 in a tournament earlier this season. I'm thinking Waxahachie has a good team. Definitely don't over look them. Any thoughts on this?
  4. Fatigue as in LaMaque guards getting worn down by the press & run.
  5. Sounds like fatigue is setting in.
  6. I think they had a player named Stubblefield who is pretty good.
  7. I saw LaMarque against Bellaire as well. They looked good. Silsbee's style with the press is a little different. Game should be interesting.
  8. No missed dunks & at least 68% ft shooting.
  9. 12/16 is his birthday. It is mine as well.
  10. Develop a good finger roll lay up.
  11. They did add a second back after the game was tied.
  12. It is either cheating, or gross incompetence by the refs. Or it is a combination of the two.
  13. No excuses needed, no excuses given. If your team has a two point lead 87-85, and the clock hits 0.00. Your team won, or they should have won. That goes beyond excuse. That is flagrant cheating.
  14. My 2nd favorite team Houston Math Science & Technology won the Gold division final vs. FB Travis. I still haven't seen the score or the stats. Good win.
  15. Which gym was this game played in? I was planning to leave the cozy house and drive out to Ft Bend and watch the silver division championship if Silsbee won. Scratch that now. I watched Alief Taylor come back on Bowie. They are a come back team. Also Silsbee's defenesive intensity is not as strong as last year, and the poor ft shooting. etc. Silsbee was blown out twice in this tournament last year. That didn't happen this year. The Tigers got some good playoff type experience. It should help them later this season.
  16. Alief Taylor played against Arlington Bowie in the time slot just before Silsbee vs Hightower yesterday. Bowie opened up a 10 pt + lead on Taylor, but Alief Taylor came back and made a game out of it. This should be a good test for Sislbee.
  17. As I mentioned somewhere I talked to the coach of Houston Washington a few times. He suggested that I should come watch them play. I told him once that I am from Silsbee and he was impressed by that.
  18. Even if abortions were totally outlawed the number of abortions would remain the same. Only difference is they would be performed in some nasty back alley instead of a sterile, controlled environment.
  19. At the end of the first OT the ref called a foul, but there was zero time left on the clock. Silsbee got robbed.
