He's wearing a UT burnt orange shirt these days. Tom Herman will try to get him to come to Austin. Look, I know Kalon Barnes is a big time recruit. I'm not trying to take any of his shine away. But 6'3", 4.39 in the 40? Those are almost Randy Moss numbers. That would set off Ricky Seals-Jones type of recruitment frenzy. Kalon is a rare talent, and he's that fast, but I don't think he is that tall.
-
Kalon Barnes is probably 6'1", possibly 6'2". If he is 6'3" and timed at 4.39 in the 40, there would be recruit helicopters (like at Tx A&M) landing in Silsbee on a daily basis.

TEXAS JAMBOREE/POST UPDATES HERE!

I enjoyed watching Silsbee play during the thanksgiving break. Back to the salt mine (work) tomorrow. I hadn't seen them since last December during the fort bend tourney last season. Good to see Devon is fully recovered and doing his thing on the court. Houston Christian is a nice team, but they didn't know about Silsbee. Among other things the Tigers has the element of surprise working for them in that game. But..all that is in the past. Wish I could attend the game against Wagner in SA. That ain't happening. When i was younger I could and would pull off crazy trips like that in the spur of the moment. Not anymore though. Hopefully I can see them again in this year's FB tournament. We will see. -

# 4, Smith was the one who hit the 50' (somebody said it was 50') buzzer beater at the end of the first half. Were it not for #4 WC would have cratered and Silsbee would of beat them by 20. -

# 4 Charles Smith saw an opening down the middle of the paint and drove in and threw down a spectacular one hand flush. The gym erupted! Kudos to the Silsbee players for being able to compose themselves and bring home a win after that play. WC made another special play at the end of the first half when someone threw in a 60 feet prayer shot at the buzzer, nothing but net. -

# 1 for Bellaire, Max Evans, is a Vanderbilt signee. I'm sure the Vanderbilt coach is looking at other players as well. -

WC has a nice squad. Let the other TAPPS teams worry about that. # 4 Charles Smith is a baller, at least he was this evening. He is just as important to that team as Salinsky. The 6'8" guy for WC, Banks, he helped them a lot in the paint. They recognized the two right guys: Adams for Silsbee & #4 Smith for WC. Good win. Both wins were good. i got my money's worth. Maybe I can catch some of the Tiger's games in the fort bend tournament. We shall see. -

The better teams and match ups are being played at the other high school. Silsbee vs WC is about the only thing worth seeing at St Thomas HS today. -

H Sam Houston was very good last year. I don't think Silsbee, much less Silsbee lite could have handled them. -
WC did look rather long & big when I saw them play yesterday. That's why I said they looked strong enough to handle HC, on a consistent basis.
-
I am a Silsbee fan so I hope both of you are right. H Sam Hou wasn't deep enough to press HC like they wanted to. They were versatile enough to beat HC at their own game. H Sam is 6a Silsbee is 4a, as you know. If they, Silsbee, can press their way to a W today, cool. Maybe all the way to a state trophy. Works for me.

...way b4 your time there was Manning & Brannon. -
How I plan to park at Houston St Thomas high school (for the Silsbee game Saturday 11/26/16 at 6:30pm). If you have your own route, or a better route use it. Here's mine: Coming from the East on I-10 (Beaumont Tx, or Downtown Houston) going West. 1) Exit at Shepherd, Durham. 2) turn left on Durham heading South. 3) turn left on Feagan st heading back East. 4) turn right on Jackson Hill St. heading South. 5) turn right on Memorial drive. Stay to the right, for a short distance. Go past the apartment complex, and the convenience store. 6) turn right into the entrance to St Thomas HS. Keep around to the back, there is parking on the other side of the school.

i should of stayed with my original assertion that the South SA tournament considers Silsbee an interloper of sorts. I don't keep up with private school basketball other than tournaments. You could be right. I don't have any skin in the game i.e. no money bet, etc.

I know passion for Silsbee is strong early on, and it's a beautiful thang. i feel that way myself. If you go back & read what I posted you will see that I left a lot of leeway to go one way or another. I said "if" Wagner does or does not have good guards Silsbee maybe able to do something with that. I have no idea what kind of guards Wagner has. We will all find out early in December. I finally got to see Houston Sam Houston just now. They defeated Westbury Christian by 9 or 10 points. I forgot the score. WC has a good team. They say Houston christian is # 2 in TAPPs behind Kinkaid. Westbury christian looks just as good as HC, maybe better. Salinsky is as good as they say. Of course, Silsbee handled HC. It should be a good game tomorrow evening. Sam Houston suited up only 8 players. They run a press that is very similar to the Silsbee press, but they don't have the depth. PG Kendrick Davis is very good. If i have one criticism, he is in love with his handles. He was stalling out there dribbling between his legs and all that and was called twice for five seconds. Houston Sam Houston still won though. it should be a good game tomorrow between the Tigers and WC.

i think I figured out why they paired Silsbee against SA Wagner in the first round of the San Antonio tournament. Maybe this is old news; if not here goes: Wagner has a 6'9" 230 center/power forward named Tristan Clark. He's the main reason they are ranked so high. Also, he is a Baylor signee, as are the two Silsbee guards, Jordan and Devon. Some how I think that is a factor in those two teams playing one another. Maybe Silsbee's press can frustrate & wear down Wagner's guards. If not that game will be a long learning experience.

I don't know much about Dallas Lancaster this year, but...they should beat Bellaire by 20 points or more. D Lancaster may do the same to Yates as well. We will see. Houston Sam Houston should handle Westbury Christian.

"just working with the scraps you was given and mama made miracles every thanksgiving" Dear Moma 2pac Time to eat again Cowboys. Happy Thanksgiving. -
I am guessing the 2 schools, Houston St Thomas & Houston Episcopal are 7 or 8 miles apart. But within those 7 or 8 miles you have to deal with intense urban holiday shopping traffic, parking issues, etc. I am planning to fade (attend) the 2pm Friday game between Westbury Christian and Houston Sam Houston, at Episcopal HS. Then Saturday evening go see Silsbee vs Westbury Christian at St Thomas.

I've met the coach at Houston BT Washington. but his name escapes me. He comes to the office from time to time. Anyway, he told me to watch out for # 2, Vanderbilt. He says Jared Vanderbilt is the # 1 player in the nation. I don't know if that was hype or not, but JV did make some impressive plays. I should of stayed & got my $10.00 dollars worth, and watched the Atascocita game, and later Yates. I plan to see Silsbee play Westbury Christian at St Thomas Saturday. That should be a good game. -

I saw Silsbee lite beat Bellaire this time last year. Bellaire looked very similar. They had #1, their star guard, doing damage. They also had the big guy, # 55 clogging up the middle. If Silsbee handled them last year, they could do it again. Lamarque looked good. They should make a lot of noise in the 3A playoffs. -

Savir Wheeler, the pg for HC, is very good, super quick. I was expecting hime to get the offensive player of the game. Devon did his thing too. Silsbee showed a lot of balance and depth. Good win. -
I Thes 4: 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
