Smooth out a few rough edges & Silsbee could of won this game. Wagner is good but I don't think they will be #! at the end of the season in 6A. -

If Tristan Clark, Wagner's 6;9" post is as good as advertised...Wagner hasn't been tested yet this year. Silsbee may or may not supply that test. I'm guessing some 6a school from that region will. -

He can't be any better than that pg for Houston Christian. -
It's called exploitation.

So, Silsbee needs to play smart and efficient, and somehow force Wagner into turnovers with the press. -
I saw Houston Sam Houston play against Westbury Christian. I got an ole school inner city, North of Downtown vibe from them. For some reason they remind me of some of the great Wheatley teams, or Kashmere in their heyday. Maybe even the old Sam Houston HS which won a state championship in the 80s. On a fast break Kendrick Davis hit a nice layup, but that big post, Banks for WC, body checked him hard as they tumbled passed the baseline. It was unintentional I am sure. KD was writhing in pain. I thought he had messed up his knee, or broke an ankle. Five minutes later he was back on the court tossing some incredible pin point assist passes. Sam Hous only suited up 8 or 9 guys, but they are a tough 8 or 9. If they played Silsbee it would be interesting for a little while. Silsbee's press, and depth would probably keep them in the game, but eventually Sam Houston would win by 10 or more. That team is battle tested.

Silsbee gives away a lot of easy points on missed dunks and layups. -
I could leave work right now and make it on time, but I'm staying home.

If you step back and look at the big picture, the ncaa is messed up. if a player makes a few dollars selling autographs it's a big scandal. Or if a coach pulls out his credit card and buys one of his players plane tickets to fly home and see their parents it is a scandal. Names are vilified, reputations are tarnished. Programs are sanctioned. IF a player tries to transfer he loses time. But, a coach is free to jump around from one million dollar contract to another, with no regard for the current contract with their team. Something is jacked up about that.

Lincoln started slow last year. they were a very young team putting it all together. Last year they probably went up against the best teams in the DFW area. By the time the playoffs rolled around they had double digit losses. If they had 10 come back from a state champion team, they will be hard to be. If any team can do it, it is Silsbee. Nobody said it would be easy.

I hear Applewhite probably won't return to Texas because he had an affair with a female team trainer on a road trip. That incident set of some messy legal actions, etc.

All the basketball mercenaries must have left the Lancaster campus.

He's wearing a UT burnt orange shirt these days. Tom Herman will try to get him to come to Austin. Look, I know Kalon Barnes is a big time recruit. I'm not trying to take any of his shine away. But 6'3", 4.39 in the 40? Those are almost Randy Moss numbers. That would set off Ricky Seals-Jones type of recruitment frenzy. Kalon is a rare talent, and he's that fast, but I don't think he is that tall.
-
Kalon Barnes is probably 6'1", possibly 6'2". If he is 6'3" and timed at 4.39 in the 40, there would be recruit helicopters (like at Tx A&M) landing in Silsbee on a daily basis.

I enjoyed watching Silsbee play during the thanksgiving break. Back to the salt mine (work) tomorrow. I hadn't seen them since last December during the fort bend tourney last season. Good to see Devon is fully recovered and doing his thing on the court. Houston Christian is a nice team, but they didn't know about Silsbee. Among other things the Tigers has the element of surprise working for them in that game. But..all that is in the past. Wish I could attend the game against Wagner in SA. That ain't happening. When i was younger I could and would pull off crazy trips like that in the spur of the moment. Not anymore though. Hopefully I can see them again in this year's FB tournament. We will see. -

# 4, Smith was the one who hit the 50' (somebody said it was 50') buzzer beater at the end of the first half. Were it not for #4 WC would have cratered and Silsbee would of beat them by 20. -

# 4 Charles Smith saw an opening down the middle of the paint and drove in and threw down a spectacular one hand flush. The gym erupted! Kudos to the Silsbee players for being able to compose themselves and bring home a win after that play. WC made another special play at the end of the first half when someone threw in a 60 feet prayer shot at the buzzer, nothing but net. -

# 1 for Bellaire, Max Evans, is a Vanderbilt signee. I'm sure the Vanderbilt coach is looking at other players as well. -

WC has a nice squad. Let the other TAPPS teams worry about that. # 4 Charles Smith is a baller, at least he was this evening. He is just as important to that team as Salinsky. The 6'8" guy for WC, Banks, he helped them a lot in the paint. They recognized the two right guys: Adams for Silsbee & #4 Smith for WC. Good win. Both wins were good. i got my money's worth. Maybe I can catch some of the Tiger's games in the fort bend tournament. We shall see. -

The better teams and match ups are being played at the other high school. Silsbee vs WC is about the only thing worth seeing at St Thomas HS today.
