  1. I was planning to drive over to North Shore & see the scrimmage that is supposed to happen between Silsbee & Northshore. I didn't remember it until I drove home from work. Too late now.
  2. Lumberton is now 2Xs bigger than Silsbee.
  3. I mentioned that I am from Houston, because I drove back to visit Silsbee via the beltway, near CE King. Maybe that was confusing. I have lived in Houston for longer than I care to say. I've been kicking it in Houston since before I was born. It is like a 2nd home. Like the old War jam City, Country, City. Silsbee, Houston, Silsbee. It has been like that most of my life. Only the City has been winning a lot lately, I seldom visit Silsbee these days.
  4. I live in Houston. Maybe that helps.
  5. I drove to Silsbee today via the beltway. I was close to CE King HS, and the game was on my mind. I didn't know the time of the scrimmage and going back to Silsbee was on my mind. I hadn't been in Silsbee in four or five years. Also, Aldine Eisenhower is close to where I live. I don't have any idea what goes on there athletically etc. My attention is mainly focused on the Silsbee Tigers.
  6. D Lincoln be chilling until the playoffs start.

  8. If you are really tuned in, pictures of that Al Smith dinner will show you who, or what institution is really running things.
  9. Trump on immigration: "We got some bad hombres here, and we're going to get them out." What a profound statement. Well said sir.
  10. I was in the military and never saw Smith. I heard about him though. He got a lot of national attention in high school. I did see him at Louisville. Lots of great games were played at the old Delmar field house. Pa Lincoln played some important playoffs there. The HISD tournament used to be held there every year. I remember seeing some kid named Field Williams out of BT Washington play. Then newer, better gyms were built. The emphasis shifted to the suburbs. Delmar got too old and got left out. Maybe all that will change somewhat.
  11. An unrelated update on the new HISD Delmar Stadium field house. They are putting in the glass windows to the building. They are also starting to smooth out the parking lot. I was talking to some construction workers at lunch the other day. They say the bleachers are already in place. They are working overtime, on Saturdays and even Sundays. The deadline for completion they told me is Oct 31st. We all had a laugh at that. I don't see it happening until November or maybe December. There may be some playoff games in that gym in 2017. Once finished it should be one of the better field houses/gyms in the region for high school basketball. I work a few blocks from there, which is why it is of interest to me.
  12. Silsbee beat some large school by double digits in that tournament last year, in the first game. Some of the large schools did the same to the Tigers, afterwards, same tournament. My theory is that first Silsbee victory didn't go un noticed. All those schools know & play one another all the time. Silsbee is still an outsider, to a certain extent an interloper. That's why they are paired with SA Wagner in the first game.
  13. To the contrary, the people who run the federal reserve, also run the government, no matter who is elected. The prez, whoever he or she is, just goes along to get along.
  14. Thanks for informing me. I think St Thomas is at the corner of Shepherd and Memorial.
  15. Investigative journalist Gary Webb looked into the matter. He wrote an expose entitled 'Dark Alliances". It was all about the contra rebels in Nicaragua trafficking drugs with the CIA's consent. Webb ended up committing suicide, so they say, by shooting himself twice in the head. Now, how can someone shoot themselves in the head twice? All the other journalists and new papers shut up about the matter after that.
  16. The CIA during the Reagan and Bush administrations trafficked in heroin and cocaine, selling it to the inner cities in places like Los Angeles.
  17. If a video like that had come out of President Obama before the last month of his first election, he never would have been elected.
  18. Thanks for posting this AAW. I get confused regarding the Hoopsgiving tournament and the Texas Jamboree. They both are being played thanksgiving weekend. I'm not sure how Silsbee can play in both. I'll leave that up to Coach Sigler & his staff to manage. Hopefully they will shut down the office at noon on Wednesday the 23rd so that I can make it to the Silsbee game at 2:30pm at TSU, in the hoops giving tourney. Then Saturday after or as the sunsets I plan to drive over to Episcopal HS and watch Silsbee vs Westbury Christian. That should be a good game. I've forgotten who Silsbee plays on Wednesday the 23rd at 2:30pm. That should be a good game as well.
  19. I'm trying something new this year. I am trying to be both a Texan and Cowboy fan at the same time. Years past I mostly followed the Texans and shunned the cowboys. The emergence of Dak Prescott has brought my back into the Cowboy fold. Call it chauvinism or whatever. I was a big fanatic, borderline obnoxious Cowboy fan growing up in Silsbee. I vaguely remember Don Meredith playing in the cotton bowl as a senior at SMU. I remember watching the 'boys on black n white televisions. Some of the first tv programs I watched were cartoons, and the dallas cowboys. The texans are still # 1, but dallas cowboys are a close 2nd.
  20. Trump is tied to the image of the beast; Hillary is tied to the beast itself. Twiddle dee, Twiddle dum.
  21. I wish I could see that Houston Christian v Silsbee game, but if it is at 2:30pm on the Wednesday before thanksgiving..you can forget that. Ain't no sense in even trying to get off. I work at a dps driver license office aka dmv. Everybody & their moma (literally) will be in there getting their permits & lost IDs before thanksgiving. Maybe I can catch Atascosita v Travis game at 7pm. That should be a good one.
  22. I've done delivery work at that church. It is a good church gym, but not big enough for a tournament.
  23. Technically speaking, the 27th is a Sunday. Hopefully that game will take place the Friday after thanksgiving.
  24. Miles for Lincoln is the real deal. McCain is taller than 6'1". Paris tends to fade in the playoffs against those Dallas teams. But then, who doesn't? Same for Dallas Carter. My Bruh in law, a Carter alum, would beg to differ. Like stated way too early 4A top ten rankings.
  25. It is hard to judge a team off these bootleg aau one day tournaments. Too many games played in one day. Sam Houston was good last year. I wonder where those twin guards go to. I think they were Srs last year. As mentioned Sam Houston was maybe the second best 6a school in the houston area last year.
