Ahmad Jones. That was him. I used to go sunday school, with Oliver Jones, back when I went to church in Silsbee. I'm thinking there is a family connection. I spoke with Ahmad's parents at that game. We knew each other in high school, even before that. Never mind that 'many are called..' line. excelling down in those trenches is more than a notion. Glad to hear Ahmad is do his thing.

That ten man bench was nice. I saw Silsbee teams in the past that would run up the score for three quarters then the other team would come back. Silsbee would win, but only by 10 or something like that. I saw a Silsbee game in Mt Belvieu like that, against Cleveland (no, it was not in Beaumont at the Montagne Center). They had a 40 pt lead on them at one time, then Cleveland came back and almost made it a game. i think that was the same year Silsbee had a thirteen pt lead on HJ in the regional finals game, then lost. HJ went on to win state. Winfred Harper's son played guard on that team. He was good. They had a big football player playing post, (silsbee did). He went to Oklahoma state on a football scholy) Haven't heard from him since. Many are called, but few are chosen. That didn't happen this year.

Yep. I checked; I didn't see any games during the 2014-15 season. I follow the team every year on this board, but if you don't attend any games it is hard to really know and get a feel for the roster. It is next to impossible. They didn't play many games in the Houston area that I could attend. They blew out Scarborough in Houston area somewhere. That was on a Friday night and I don't go to games on Friday. They played Wheatley that following Tuesday in channel view. I had some car problems I was concerned about and didn't go. They then played Mexia and Houston Sterling in Huntsville, but I didn't attend those games either, for the same reason I didn't go to the Scarborough game. Silsbee had only one senior in 2014 2015, Michael Williams. No disrespect, but I do not remember him on the court.

This was a thoroughly interesting season. I enjoyed it all the way through. We didn't win it all but we finally got past the state semi final game. I enjoyed the seniors; gonna miss them. But sooner or later someone will step up. At the beginning of the season I was worried about replacing Chris Elam. If the state semi final game can be won, the state championship can be won also, one day. Hopefully soon. Maybe next year. Still a great season. Thank you.

My provider replayed the Silsbee vs D Lincoln game Thursday. Almost a week after the game. I was just watching it just a moment ago.

If Silsbee plays smart and efficient games against teams like Yates & D Lincoln will be taken care of. It can be done. Silsbee should schedule games with DISD schools as often as possible. Yates and FB schools also.

Somewhere there are archives and microfiche to back me up. I will do some research when I get the chance. I know where I was. I know what game I saw.

I saw one game and it was Silsbee vs PA Lincoln. The game started at 7pm and i made it in time to see the game. I was working the same type of schedule I work now. If that game was played in Beaumont I could not get there on time. I sat in the stands next to Herb Sapp.

Oh yeah, Lincoln won and went on to win state.

1995. Silsbee vs PA Lincoln. The winner went on to state in Austin. They did not have a regional tournament then. I think that came the next year. Silsbee had Damien Bush. I only saw him play one game ever, and this was the game. PA Lincoln had Steve Jackson. It was his junior year. The next year he transferred to Oak Hill Academy. The rest of his career is history, nba history at that. That is the game I saw and attended. Now, maybe they played in Beaumont at the Montagne earlier that season. i don't know. The game I saw was in deer park tx.

I can remember the teams in 71, 72. Great teams. Some of those teams after that I didn't see. This year's team was the first to blow by the state semi final game, with a 40 pt win at that. Therefore this year's team has a legitimate argument for being the best team of all times.

D Lincoln won it all. I refuse to believe those players just happened to grow up in the area of D Lincoln. There was some manipulation somewhere along the line.

That game was played in Deer Park. I was at that game, and I have never seen the Montagne, much less been in it.

I usually watch 1 or 2 Silsbee games a year when they get close to Houston. The season before I didn't see any Silsbee games. Then when this season started & I saw where they were ranked # 1 in 4A I knew I had to see what this is all about. I went to their game in Houston against Bellaire back in November, the day after thanksgiving. Maze & Adams were raining 3s. The last Silsbee team I had seen could not shoot, so I was impressed. Maze hit like 3 3s in a row and took the lead, I said wow, I like that. Then I saw this pt guard, Devon drive down the side of the key like a blur, and put some wicked english on the ball and it curled around the rim three times and went in. I knew then that the ranking was legit. I saw 4 more games during the season. i made a lot of comments. I was really hoping they could win it all. They had a very nice run though. Gonna miss the seniors big time. That's high school basketball though. Sooner or later somebody will step up and make us forget. I still haven't seen the play where Devon got hurt. I am glad to hear his injury was not as bad as it could of been. Easy for me to say. Dude plays with a lot of heart and passion, 100 percent.

D Lincoln was long. They had good guard play. They understood how to play defense at state, with the setting up for the charges. They had good defensive rotation. They stepped out and defensed the 3. Still, Silsbee is not far behind them. DISD teams are used to being in state. Silsbee got hyped by the moment.

I turned it off. I didn't know it was that serious.

I hope Devon is okay. Welp. Great season Silsbee. A very deep bench & what other attributes you rely on mean nothing if the other team has you convinced that you can't beat them. Time to fall back on my favorite rationale: it's only sports, it's only basketball. Next season.

Sometimes you can't drive to the hoop That's when a nice pull up shot would come in handy.

I don't know about their bench, but their core players are just as fast and athletic as Silsbee.
