My first and only trip to Austin was in '72. It was at the old gregory gym. i think that was the name of the place. Silsbee lost a semi final game to Odessa Ector.

The dust settles and it would have to be a Dallas team left to play in the finals. By hook, by crook or just sheer luck and talent those teams always hang around. I've been watching D Lincoln, so to speak, as best I could. They are a formidable team. They emerged from their tough district, tough non district region. They dusted off Paris twice this season, once by 10 points. They slayed the dragon that was La Marque. But this is a special Silsbee team. This is a team with a monkey on its back. The Tigers want that ultimate recognition, that state title. Silsbee runs at least 10 deep. Some say more. I am up here in Arlington visiting the folks. They want to go to a restaurant tomorrow eve. I am trying to steer that idea toward toward ordering out and watching the game at bruh in law's house. They don't feel the passion like I do. It's a Silsbee thang. Hopefully I can convince them. Go Silsbee. Lets do this.

Sam Houston has been my second favorite team this season, although i regret never going to seem them play. They had a great season.

HISD was planning to close Sam Houston HS. Alumni & the community were against that. So, to keep the school open they revamped their cirriculum, and they became Houston Math Science & Technology.

Finally over the hump. Silsbee won the state semi final game. The window of opportunity is open. Might as well win it all.

It was a nasty trip here as well. We're in Arlington, Tx, visiting folks in Arlington & Fort Worth. I couldn't listen to the EC game; I was busy driving. I am glad they won. I am going to settle in here & figure out how to watch and or listen to the Silsbee game tomorrow.

If I remember correctly, last year the semi final games were streamed on Thursday and Friday. The finals games on saturday were shown on TV.

We're headed in the opposite direction. Going to Arlington to visit the folks. I think FSN will stream the game on the internet. This is the second trip to San Antonio we missed recently. They had a big church denomination convention there last July. Missed that one too. Just not meant to be I guess.

Have you seen Levelland play?

I am trying to set the tv recorder now. I am going to be busy Friday & Saturday.

Beaumont & LU are practically in Kountze's back yard. I am sure EC brought that up.

I've been meaning to go to a Sam Houston game all season, but never got around to it. Something would always come up. Also, it is hard to find information on games in Houston, especially in HISD. They have a quirky way of promoting such events. Sports fans in the Beaumont area are blessed to have setxsports and AAW et al. Anyway, perhaps I can catch Sam Houston on Fox next weekend, right after the Red Foxx & Sanford & Sons marathon on TV Land, lol.

No updates is usually not a good sign.

Congratulations on a great season so far Silsbee. If you never win another game it has still been a very good season. I'm not trying to sound negative or jaded, but I am wondering, is this the year the Tigers get past the state semi final game and make it to the finals? Correct me if I am wrong, but I am told they have never made it to the final game before. Better yet is this the year they win it all? The other three teams are formidable. Nobody said it would be easy. The Tigers beat two tough teams in Huntsville. They have played against great competition all year: Central, 6A Bellaire, which I saw, the teams in the Ft Bush tournament, tough teams in the SA tournament and at the Whataburger tourney. All I am saying is let's do this. We've gotten this close; might as well win it all. Two more games. Leave it all in SA.

Maybe I'll watch Big Sandy when they are on television in SA. If they make it that is. More than likely they will, but never say never.

That was the last exception I was thinking about.

A team that can play both styles is a very good team. Back when PA Lincoln was in control pretty much, they would sometimes run teams out of the gym. Then again coach Gamble once one a state championship with the score in the 40s. If the style brings home a trophy no one will know or care when it is all history. They just remember the championship. I think Silsbee's coach Sigler does a good job of taking the players he has and making it work. Over the years Tiger teams are usually not that tall. There are exceptions, but usually they are not. They are also usually not good jump shooters or free throw shooting teams. To overcome all that Sigler takes what he has, guard play, athleticism and presses and runs to win games. I don't know if methodical would work for Silsbee. It used to back in the day, under coach Dan Montgomery, but that was a long time ago.
