Kobe Bryant goes off on AAU basketball

I haven't watched a lot of HJ b ball. I've heard it said that the hawks are always fundamentally sound. My question is what are they doing in that community to teach fundamental basketball skills? Maybe it should be copied. -
Former Yates star shot and killed
Kountzer replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Boys Basketball
So a female was involved. That changes things slightly but not enough to matter. The guy is still dead. I am not a lawyer though. As someone mentioned there was a similar case in Houston, I think it was in the North. The girl's age is a factor. If she is a minor and Swift is an adult it doesn't look good to the law. I doubt it will go to court. -

It is a possibility that a girl was involved. I haven't heard that one was. I don't think charges have been filed against the home owner. The family of the deceased would have to hire an expensive criminal lawyer to get anything going on this case. I'm thinking they don't have the resources or the will to do so. I am not passing judgement. We all make choices, good ones and bad. It is what it is. As the old saying goes: "open and shut case Watson." -

I thought about all that. When you're in someone's house either way, bad things can happen/did happen. -
I don't celebrate Kwanzaa; I don't mind those who do. Now that I think about it I don't know anyone who is really into the holiday. I do find it amusing though that certain people, like Ann Coulter, and others take time out to bash Kwanzaa. It is the irony that gets me. Kwanzaa, christmas, easter, sunday worship they are all in the same boat. Dare i say it? Yes: they are all fake. Before I get into a little detail let me say that I get a good vibe at x xmas time, also at easter, even a little on sunday, although I go to church on the 7th day, the day most people call saturday. No where in the bible does the Lord tell his people to celebrate christmas. Nor does He say to worship easter. Nowhere does it say that december 25th is his birthday. It also does not say that sunday is the sabbath, nor is it a day of worship. Christmas was being celebrated by pagans before Jesus was born. Same with Easter. Same with sunday. The people who were responsible for bringing these pagan holidays into the christian church were much more thuggish than Ron Koranga ever was. History bears this out. They spilled lots of innocent blood, to the tune of 50 million or so people slaughtered, and that is a very conservative estimate. I roll with the holidays, i don't bash what others believe. I just find it odd that they pick on kwanzaa when their beliefs are in the same category, namely fake. Peace.

You're right BLUEDOVE3. I thought about that when I posted. That's interesting. I think his full name was Kenny Steward, or Kenny Stewart. Tbh I only saw him play one time, one game. It was his high school, Houston Ross Sterling, vs Houston Wheatley in the playoffs in 1973, I think that was the year. Wheatley was a state and national juggernaut in high school basketball. You had to live in that era to really understand the Wheatley basketball mystique. Kenny almost led Sterling to an upset. He had help from Lee Canaleto (sic?) a big Italian post player for Sterling. Lee was about 6'5" 260, all state lineman, all state shot putter. He went on to gain some fame of his on. Canaleto had about 20 rebounds in that game. But Kenny Steward, man he put on a show going up against Wheatley. The Wheatley Wildcats were a bit too over-confident. They didn't take it seriously. While Kenny and Sterling were out to bring them down. It didn't happen, but Sterling got close, about as close as a team could get to the Wildcats that year. Wheatley went on to win another state championship. I read somewhere that Coach Jackie Carr called that team his best ever. I followed Kenny Steward from then on. I hated that the only game I saw him was his last high school game. Keeping up with him was not easy back then. The information age hadn't started yet. They didn't have PCs, Facebook, message boards, the internet, cells phones, twitter and all that back in the day. i was shocked when I heard what happened to Kenny. i still don't understand it. The same with Melvin Swift. Only God knows for sure what is going on in peoples minds, in their hearts and in their lives. RIP to both of them. -
ALDINE NATIONAL SHOWCASE/POST UPDATES HERE!

This indeed was a national showcase tournament when it first started. i was following K Perkins and Ozen when they played NY Rice. Lebron James and his high school was supposed to play, but something happened and they did not make it. Oak Hill Academy played, there star was Carmelo Anthony. I remember not being all that impressed with Carmelo and his game. The very next season, his freshman year at Syracuse, Anthony led them to an NCAA championship. Shows you what I know. -

They probably would whip Silsbee, based on how the have done against Bush and Hightower. For the record though all that Silsbee vs Beaumont drama..I'm not in it. -

I've had my eye on Houston Sam Houston since that Ft Bend Raisin' Canes tournament. They gave those vaunted FB schools all they wanted, and Sam Houston almost won that tourney. I'm not surprised Sam Houston beat Central like they did. -

Similar tragedy happened years ago to a guard named Kenny...I forgot his last name. He played hi sch ball at Houston Sterling, went to Sam Houston on a b ball scolly. He was shot burglarizing someone's home. That was that. RIP -

That's some slow, deliberate basketball. Argyle won state playing like that. If I remember correctly Lincoln played slow and won state once under coach Gamble. -

Silsbee was running with Yates and winning. Yates slowed down and started hitting 3s. Silsbee couldn't play that game. And that was how it ended. -

What's concerning is both Liberty Hill & Abilene Wylie are buried deep in the TABC 4A polls. One was at # 15, the other at # 18. That goes to show that you really can't go by what the polls say, not all the time. Both of those teams will move up in the next poll. Nobody said it would be easy. -

Size, and well coached..don't miss FTs. That's the cake. 3s are nice, but 3s are the icing on the cake. -

Far be it from me to cast negative dispersion. Maybe they are home grown, maybe they are home schooled. I had a feeling there was another formidable team out there, maybe two or three. Abilene Wylie ain't no punk team either. Height & size is always a good thing in basketball. -

Maybe Silsbee will get invited back to the FB tournament. That is not a warm up tournament. The Tigers need their A game to make noise in FB. A lot of height and talent flows through the Ft Bend area, especially 6a & 5a schools like Travis, Hightower and Elkins. Houston Sam Houston MS & T is not a push over either. -
Rumblings at #1 Bridgeport!!!

I guess LaMarque is in region 4 to balance out the schools in each region. The UIL has done that in the past in the large schools. There have been all houston finals before, all dfw finals as well. -

Silsbee won't run into LaMarque until the final 4 in SA, unless they agree to play on an open date or something. Any team that makes it to SA, the final four, is supposed to be good.
