Call me old skool, but I have never been to a Silsbee home game in the new high school. I haven't been on the campus. i decline attending Friday night games for religious reasons. I usually don't have the motivation to leave work on a Tuesday then drive to Silsbee for a game. Either the Tuesday game is probably going to be a blow out, or it is a HJ game and there's a good chance the tickets will be sold out by the time I get there. I usually catch a tournament or a playoff game within a 60 mile radius (like Huntsville) of Houston...for what that's worth.

I love my tigers, don't get it twisted, love my home town. It is a very unique place to grow up. I kinda wish I still lived there, in a way. It wasn't meant to be though. I would love to see a championship, in one of the big two sports, namely football or basketball. (I know about the track state title in '94) I think it is more likely to happen in the latter, but it could be in football. Who knows? maybe this year in basketball.

Lotta basketball between here and SA. When all the dust settles who knows who will be in the final four. Neither Bridgeport or Silsbee may make it. It happens all the time.

That #1 ranking is like a bull's eye. It is a good thing though, builds character.

...end of the season, yep. Regarding Silsbee: take your lumps now. Learn from them. Get some totals team practice in. I wonder if Argyle & Silsbee meet in the whataburger tourney? I'd pay to see that. I'm curious about HJ as well. And Lamarque also.

Is this Houston Sam Houston, San Antonio Sam Houston, or Arlington Sam Houston? Many have said they like a competitive tournament for the Tigers. Well you got it.

I think Silsbee plays Hightower at 10:30am. Consolation games are always a letdown.

He obviously could not recruit at TSU that well, but then, who can? On the high school level...it is a different story.

Don't let the TABC #1 4A ranking fool you, that and a win over Central. Don't step on the court with a high school team led by Coach Courtney, unless you got your heart right and your big boy jock strap on.

I may make it to the Thursday afternoon game in Fort Bend after all, at least to the second half.

i have been hoping to see the Tigers play in the Raisin' Cane tournament in FT Bend. The plan was leave work and catch an evening game. Now that the schedule is out I don't know. If I am reading the schedule right they next play at 1:30pm, followed by another game at 4:00pm Thursday. Those are some crazy game times. I definitely cannot go to any games Friday. Oh well.

How serious are the injuries on the Silsbee team?

Silsbee's ranking in the next polls should be interesting. That's okay, at the end of the day, or better yet, at the end of the season, polls and rankings don't mean all that much. It is better to taste the bitterness of defeat now instead of the first game in the playoffs. I am looking forward to the next game, on the 7th.

Silsbee being able to survive and even thrive with four to eight players still playing football, against 6A schools at that, is more dream than reality. We won't really be able to tell what this team is really all about until mid to late January.

Any updates on Silsbee v Harlingen South?

What kind of height does Silsbee have this year? The great equalizer is running and pressing. I saw several ball handlers. And two or three 3 ball shooters. Nice to see the team get recognition as # 1. I wonder if they will be in that same place after Central tonight & after the tournaments. If not that's cool too. It is really all about preparing for district and more importantly the playoffs.

It is too early in the season. I am just enjoying the process. Just like Bridgeport came out of nowhere some other team could do the same. I like Silsbee's chances this year though. I too am a life long Tigers basketball fan. I am not pessimistic, just real. I won't believe it (state championship) totally until I see it.
