Tigers get a rematch with Houston Kashmere
Kountzer replied to ST413's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yep. They need to stay focused. If they look past this game, thinking about the next, this could turn into a trap. I've heard of some crazy things happening in the playoffs, to Silsbee teams at that. Silsbee should take this though. -

My cousin played trumpet in the Kashmere marching band. He wasn't good enough for the stage band. He used to tell me all those stories. I love Silsbee though. Don't get it twisted. I'm not fanatical about it, but there's something about growing up in a small town that is hard to explain. -
Tigers get a rematch with Houston Kashmere
Kountzer replied to ST413's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
My folks had land, etc in Silsbee and in Houston's Fifth Ward/Kashmere Garden area. As a result I spent a lot of time in both places. I got cousins that graduated from Kashmere. I attended one year of school at Lamar Fleming Middle School. Then I got homesick and went back to the Silsbee school district. Most of the basketball talent would go to Wheatley. Kashmere had that golden era during the Karl Godine period. I don't remember them doing too much more basketball wise before or since. Now the Kashmere stage band led by Conrad Johnson, that's a different story. They got a movie out about that, btw. These days the kashmere gardens area is lucky that Kashmee High School hasn't been closed down. I hate to say that, but it's true. -
" Will any 3A team challenge Yates? If Yates plays its best, the answer probably is no. If the No. 1-ranked Lions have even an average night, however, they could exit the playoffs early. Region III features more than a handful of ranked teams, including No. 8 Silsbee and No. 9 Navasota. Led by Silsbee, District 21 could prove to be a handful. No. 15-ranked Hardin-Jefferson lurks in the second round. No. 14 West Orange-Stark is on the top half of the bracket." They're mostly talking about Region III. Beyond that is a different story.

I might make it to this game, we'll see.

Silsbee and HJ gets hard road to Regionals
Kountzer replied to Springtime's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Changing the topic slightly, they had some 7'8" 16 y.o. african young man visit Houston during all star weekend. He visited Yates along with some of the nba all stars. Wouldn't it be something if he ended up wearing red and gold in the near future. Not that I am starting spurious rumors, more like what ifs. Stuff does happen. -
Silsbee and HJ gets hard road to Regionals
Kountzer replied to Springtime's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The only team that will be remembered is the team that wins regional. Better yet, the only team that will really be remembered is the team that wins State. Everybody else will be written down and archived somewhere. The team that is still playing the longest will have bragging rights here for a few days, that's about it. -

Third place team still has to go thru and win the regional tournament. Play Yates now, or play em later. It's all the same. -
POST BI-DISTRICT ROUND PLAYOFF GAME INFO HERE

I didn't know that. Whatever. It's in deep South Houston, far enough away to not be of interest to me. -
POST BI-DISTRICT ROUND PLAYOFF GAME INFO HERE
Kountzer replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Per the Chronicle Stafford vs. Kashmere at Pasadena Dobie Tuesday 7:30p.m. I was hoping they would play at Delmar, oh well. -
That's the usual impression, athletic, urban teams just roll the ball out, and play with not discipline, or very little. Although Coach Gamble at PA Lincoln won a championship or two by taking the air out of the ball. Coach Wise is not taking the 3A championship for granted. This whole thing could come down to Yates vs. Stephenville or Argyle in the Finals or semi finals.

I ran into several of the Jack Yates players earlier today. ;D
I bet they will be in Dayton tuesday cheering on HJ!!
You have to respect Yates for putting in their due diligence by scouting potential opponents. Obviously they're not taking the 3A playoffs lightly, which makes them even more formidable to other teams.

Whataburger Playoff Preview game schedule
Kountzer replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I've passed by that complex scores of times going by on I-20. I got inlaws in the highland hills section of Ft Worth, which is not far from there. Kennedale is not that far away. Ft Wrth Dunbar is relatively close to there as well. -
Silsbee tops HJ, clinches 21-3A title
Kountzer replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I went to that Silsbee vs. Kashmere game. It was more like Silsbee's varsity without the football players, or the JV team. Throw that game out as far as judging what would happen if they meet in the playoffs. Houston Sterling? Idk much about them. I go to church in that part of town, that's about it. -

If I'm reading the brackets right Silsbee could play Kashmere again in the Region 3 area game. The winner of that game would play yates in the Regional quarter final game, one game before the regional finals in Huntsville. -
New Silsbee Warm-Up Opponent?!!!
Kountzer replied to State Champs 17's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I didn't say Yates and D Madison will beat every team in their path and meet in the 3A finals, although there is a high probability of that happening. Anyone who is not aware of those two teams is not paying attention. I love my Silsbee Tiger basketball though, and the Kountze Lions. Back when I was in middle school Brannon and Manning were like rock stars in Silsbee. That's probably what influences the 'kountzer' name. Good luck to both teams. Afterall, it's just basketball. -

I'm guessing Tatum and White Oak are 2A schools. -

Could be. Yates and Dallas Madison will have a lot of say in all that. -
I just posted what I was feeling. The Tigers are definitely my favorite team, and that goes back a long way. I like Kountze as well. I hope they bring home another trophy, but trophy or no trophy my heart is with the Tigers.
-
I gotta get me another name, lol.
-
Silsbee should win district. The Tigers are relatively short and don't shoot free throws well. To me this is another indication that Yates is going to cake walk to Austin.

Silsbee vs Jeff Davis at Delmar stadium in Houston, a football game. Then a few years later it was a Tiger playoff basketball game vs. Bryan Rudder in Conroe. He was the loudest and strongest voice in the stands supporting Silsbee. He could be like that back in school also, when the situation called for it. He was a good person! His wife was just and strong as he was in the stands.
yes. Need to keep his wife in prayer also. She suffered serious injury as well. -
I'm sorry, but for the fans that were on here saying Silsbee had lost at half, y'all are some sorry excuses for fans! They had a whole half to play! If I were you I'd be ashamed! I can only hope that Silsbee players don't get on here and see just how well some of their fans were supporting them! On another note, Good job dogs! I knew you could do it!
I've been watching football at all levels longer than I care to admit. A lot of that was Silsbee football, Waldo Matthews & Silsbee High. So, if I say I'm 'feeling' this or that, I'm usually not wrong. I would of preferred to have been wrong this time, but I wasn't.
