As is said hindsight is 20/20.

Five years or so ago, before I retired, I was given a dps regular truck an told to go work in Bryan Texas for a week. That office was no where near as busy as my office in Houston, so I was working but also conversing. I talked to some strong Tx A&M alumni. I mentioned coach Kevin Sumlin just to seee the reaction. Sumlin was in limbo then. You could sense it was a matter of time before he would be gone. I felt that he, Charley Strong and the UT basketball coach got their jobs on the coattails of prez Obama. I don't have a picture posted but those that know me know I am African American. I am not trying to go political with this, just giving background. The TX A&M alumni were all adamant they wanted Sumlin out and replaced by someone better. Sumlin went on to bomb at Arizona, but that's a whole nother Oprah Winfrey show. Needless to say neither I nor the alums I talked to foresaw the fiasco in A&M football that happening right now.

I’ve had Q there before and we have discussed that place before.

I don't remember a Buckees; I haven't been out there in awhile. Maybe I just didn't notice. Good Qi just the same.

Looking at the map I see Dobie HS is not that far from the church I attend. Place that in the for what it is worth file.

The Pasadena Dobie @ Silsbee game, played 11/12/22 was recorded & you can watch it on youtube. Harris played smart. Dobie was watching him close. He had no room to drive to the bucket. No need to risk injury on a game like that. Dobie has a deep bench. They would make a good 4A team. They are 6A, I think. How competitive they are at their real level IDk. A glance at the TABC rankings would help. A loss but a good warmup game.

I was out walking my dog and one of my neighbors, the dad of one of the Westfield players was having fun talking about how Silsbee got handled. I told him how the star players and the rest of the starters were out for this and that and for football. Silsbee is < a 1000 students. The rest of those schools have 3k to 3.5k students. A full Silsbee team that is in the basketball groove would give them a run for their money. The Tigers are known for beating 5A and 6A teams, at least 3 or 4 times a season.

I should have gone to this but I was somewhere else. The key thing is Jared did not play. Those are some good big school teams. The kid down the street plays for Westfield. I see him and his sisters practice in their driveway all the time. I wish I could have seen him play Silsbee. When everyone comes together this is going to be a tough team to deal with, especially at the 4A level.

Could be a return to the halcyon days when Silsbee was in SA every year, and coach Sigler had a 12 to 15 man rotation. Which means they will trap and press all game long.

I'm hearing the Astros are putting Verlander back on the mound tonight. This series could be toast. -
Duncanville stripped of 2022 state championship

Guy on Facebook, Melvin Dews raised an interesting scenario. The Univ. of Texas created the UIL So there is a definite connection between the two. When the appeal was still unresolved UT was in the running to recruit Anthony Black. Black chose Arkansas. The appeal did not go in his favor. If Black had chosen to take his basketball skills to UT would the result of the appeal still be the same? Probably, but who knows for sure? Interesting question just the same. -
It went to the Supreme Court? Wow.
-
I saw some video of Silsbee vs Barbers Hill. Jared was doing his thing as usual. The players with him were doing good too. That was encouraging to see.
-
The UIL is smart. They didn't announced their rulings during the heat of the season and the playoffs. Fans would probably erupt. They waited until just before the beginning of a new season.

He needs to at least play this season for Arkansas before deciding all that. -
Is Silsbee participating in the Spring Westfield scrimmage, probably next Tuesday?
-
I'm not sure what I meant then either. my bad.
-
They lost Tre Haynes to graduation. He would hit the 3 shot. I saw video of some incoming young guys who could possibly do the same; time will tell. The injured guy coming back is probably Bilily Boulwin, who is listed as 6’4 190lbs. There may be 8 but but not not not basketballers still playing football. The Tigers could possibly ‘end the frustration’ on the football field. Wouldn’t that be something.
-
I went to that Spring Westfield scrimmage last year. I am having transportation issues so I don't know if I will make it this year. The kid down the street plays for Westfield. It wasn't compelling basketball last year. Just a scrimmage. The jamboree on Friday in Bellaire may or may not be worth attending, considering the 8 football players who probably will be missing. All things considered Silsbee Tiger boys basketball probably won't get to rolling good until the mid to second half of district play.

Or it could be Houston Madison. -
I heard about some buy bringing a rifle and handguns to a stadium up state somewhere. This is the first time I heard about the incident or near incident at Everman HS. My wife is Everman HS alumni. So is her sister. They grew up in South Fort Worth but Everman is just down the road.

I have attended 1 maybe 2 HS football games in the past 30 to 40 years. I've watched a few on streams. Not the same thing. I went to an HBCU college game back in the 70s. It was TSU vs Grambling. I went mostly to see the bands perform at half time. I do remember 00 Kenny Burroughs catch some long TD passes for TSU. He went on to have a good career in the NFL with the Oilers.
