I mentioned here before that I have talked to the BT Washington coach before. He would visit the driver license office where I worked. When I told him I was from Silsbee he was exuberant in his praise for coach Sigler and the Silsbee basketball program. This started around 2017 or so when Silsbee was winning Bigly. When I saw his name and picture all over the news I was as shocked as any one. He was and is a nice person, to me anyway. His coaching days are over. This will also have a negative effect on the Houston BT Washington basketball program.

I am a big time Silsbee basketball fan. Still, I am surprised they are ranked #2 in 4A. I figured they would be in the top 20. If they landed # 10 or #9 i would have been surprised, but #2? I was not ready for that. If the team can prove me wrong go ahead.

Nov 29th is a ways away. If Silsbee is scheduled to play in the morning or early afternoon I may attend. that may be my only chance to see them this season. I don't see myself driving to the Beaumont area unless Silsbee is playing compelling basketball.

Who was the genius that came up with the idea of creating an uneven playing field by allowing one team to recruit over a broad area of talent while restricting all the other teams to stringent recruiting rules. Then call it fair sportsman ‘ship?

20 years & 270 lbs ago (sorry Mike) there was Michael Dabney. It is ashame they didn’t have digital cameras then. If they did this whole who was the best argument would be over fast. Just my opinion.

I was in the 20 aka 77020 aka 5th ward also in the 26 aka 77026 aka Kashmere gardens since before you were born. when I wasn’t in Silsbee or Beaumont I was usually in the 26, with occasional trips to the 20. Sending summers at the Hester House..waste a time, you don’t know nothing about that.

I was @ work once, processing driver licenses etc. This tall skinny kid, maybe 6'2" or so was my next customer. He was changing his address from Bridge City to somewhere in Houston. I asked him if he played basketball for Bridge City. He said no. I was able to get out of him that he was going to school at UH or Rice majoring in architecture. I stopped asking questions after that. Playing B ball is not the cake. If a student works it just right it is at best just the icing on the cake.

I saw ML school. I thought it was out somewhere. Nope. it is dead in the middle of fifth ward.

They got new guy at TABC. You can sense the difference in how they are handling the rankings this season. It’s gonna be hard to keep BT Wash. out of SA. McDermott is an experienced Sr. & a star, & he is playing just like the star he is. His team is going to feed off his presence. When a team gets that kind of energy going it is not easy to stop them.

There's much more to life than the outcome of the Silsbee basketball season.

McDermont is the real deal.

Mere freshman don’t walk in the door and start for Duncanville. Those are probably some of the best freshman in the state or country.
