At the Jamboree Friday I'd like to see CE King vs. Goose creek @ 12:30pm in the Alkek gym. Bellaire vs Beaumont United @ 330pm in the same gym. Meanwhile, Silsbee vs St Thomas Episcopal 230pm in the Crum gym that same Friday. So something got to give.

# 12's length is very good on defense. If he learns how to hit under the rim shots and lay ups look out.

This is Miller’s first basketball action this season. To go from being the star on football to being a star,, or the star in basketball is not easy to do. By the time it really matters he should be there.

By the 2nd thru forth scrimmage the game is more about endurance than basketball.

Will BU go undefeated again this year? ION know. Everybody in the nation knows who they are now. Everybody will give them their best game. Still BU doesn't have any weaknesses, at least none I know of. They can run with the runners. Trap and press all that. They got the guard play to beat a good pressing team, like Silsbee. Once they beat the press they got superior height, superior rebounding. Definitely superior shooting. They can easily beat Silsbee by 20 or more. 30? 40? Ion even want to think about it. And you don't have to think about it. All Silsbee has to do is handle their business in 4A.

Silsbee should do good in 4A. They should make some noise in the playoffs. I’ll wait until ther season gets going before I say more. I am a firm believer in passing quietly by the yard where a big mean dog lives. Quit trying to provoke BU.

I can see why this current group is being compared to the 2017 years. They have a full bench right now. & more are coming after football. They don’t have the talent of the 2017 team, but they have a lot of athleticism. They have decent height. The coach was constaptly sending in new and fresh players, in waves.

I saw Ricky Scott & his big brother, a Waldo Matthews alum. Much respect to the Waldo Matthew alums.

I got back an hour ago from the scrimmage at Spring Westfield. Man that school I big. Silsbee did good against Hisuston Westbury. Then they switched to gym 2 & went up against A&M Consolidated. A&M Con. has a nice strong squad. I don't see where they are ranked in class 5A, but they should be. A&M team has a lot of athletes. They were pulling away when I left. I saw Westfield warm up. They looked like the strongest team of the four.

Silsbee's defense & offense is predicated on running, pressing and trapping. They flip turnovers into points. If a team gets thru that they can drive the middle of the paint. Nothing says I'm a good athlete like being good at football and basketball. But the big guy for Silsbee doesn't see it that way. Hopefully I am wrong about that this season.

The 2016 team may have been the most deep team. They lost to Lincoln cause Devon got hurt, and Bush was in the eight grade. That team had players like Trajan Harris & Tre Grubbs coming off the bench.

Silsbee will probably fluctuate up & down due to their tough skid. How long Yates stays @ # 5 & Argyle @ # 6 is worth watching. The polls have come out. Silsbee football is meh. The Astros & the Texans are getting bashed. The official opening of hs b ball practice is near. Time for basketball.

CE King, from a Houston perspective is dang near like going to Beaumont, or at least Crosby. Depends on the time/date. Same for Westfield, depends on the date. I won't elaborate. I haven't been back there since my daughter graduated from there back in the day. The area has "changed" so I am told. But hey I went to a game at Kashmere some years ago. Not tryna scare anyone. Prolly more myth than anything. I even found out I got a nephew & his fam at Westfield. I got grand nephews that play on their football team. My paternal side is complicated. Moving on..
