Way back in the day the two big names in Kountze were Manning and Brannon. Y'all too young to know anything about that.

That's a problem for places like Kountze and Silsbee. All the talent, knowledge and genetics tends to move to the big city like Beaumont.

Huffman by 5. After Silsbee lost my interest in hi School basketball dropped of precipitously. NFHS can miss me wid those on demand & stream fees. They'll put the games on tv eventually, I hope. If not somebody will show highlights on YouTube. Good enough for me. That's keep me going for now.

Last game against HH was a loss. Barbers Hill was a loss. 2nd game against Lumberton was a loss. Two games against BU were not losses. Those were beat downs.

I guess it's the drive that is among the things that separate the noted coaches & athletes from us ordinary people. Cause if I was Sumlin I'd take the money from U of H, and the money from Tx A&M, and the funds from Arizona and I'd buy a nice horse ranch, if he doesn't already have one. And I would forget NCAA football ever existed.

I went in to The Burger Joint in Houston yesterday. I ordered a veggie burger and onion rings. There was a table of nicely dressed police officers wearing starched white shirts, trousers, badges and guns. I recognized some of those faces. As I waited for my burger It came to me. I went over to their table and asked if they had been on this TV show The First 48 Hours. One of them answered yes, sometimes. I already knew that was so. I watch that show quite a bit. It is one of the few tv shows I watch. And I am good at remembering faces.

There is nothing I've mentioned on this msg board about catholics that they have not said first about themselves. Research will bare that out.

It is my understanding that if the refs had called a flagrant foul he would of been tossed from the game. If he had been tossed maybe the outcome would of been different. Who knows? I doubt if he will be suspended now. That whole HH team is rocked up from spending time in the weight room. That is fair. If an opposing player tries to get a rebound he gets worked over. That's probably how the HJ player got into a fight. The HJ player threw a punch so he got suspended. I will leave that there. I am curious what the HH coach had to say.

Canyon, Nazareth, Carthage etc., those are regional all star teams.

Bridgeport won 4A a few years ago with home schoolers, some kind of way.

Personally I wasn’t the one who brought up the issue. That was someone else. I gave my opinion and that is that. I wasn’t aware that Mike Sanchez had said anything. I wasn’t paying attention. As for the player having a bad game, that happens. I’ve said that a few times already. People have put a lot of pressure on the two star freshmen, saying they’re gonna do this n that over the next four years, etc. Maybe they will. I’m a Silsbee fan so it would not hurt me if they did. But it is not a given. They ran into a well prepared team. I think that whole team has been in the weight room and there is nothing wrong with that approach. Right now Silsbee is more of a finesse team. A finesse team that has streaky shooters at best. Perhaps thata will be different next season. IDK. Adams & McCain were fast enough to play the run game and big enough to pull rebounds & go inside when they needed to. Plus they had Brae Bush. This current set of guards are about 6’1’ 170. Maybe they will fill out. Maybe their shots will not let them don in the future. Time will tell.

Were you here last season? Seems like you were. Well, Silsbee had this temperamental player. Good athlete & b baller, but stuff would keep him off the court. A few posters said this or that and his Mom found out. She was a verbal brawler. She got loose on this msg board, about her son, and reading her posts was akin to scratching your fingernails on a chalkboard. So, with that in mind, I personally just as soon not say anything about any player. Also, rumor had it a good player was thinking of going to BU instead of SHS. I'd just soon not aggravate that situation either. Sticks and stones, as the old saying goes.

I'm comfortable with the choice, so much so that had he lost storming the capitol & offing his opponents was the last thing on my mind.

Only a small number of high school players make their mark, so to speak. Even the ones who make it to the NBA. Many just stay there long enough to have a cup of coffee and u never hear from them again. Going from HS to D3, or from HS to D1 to the league is not easy to do. Some make it look easy, but they are the exceptions not the rule.

I've only seen Jacobs once in person, against Yates, who had a strong and long back court then. This year's back court was similar. They just slipped up. Or maybe it was Silsbee. Anyway Jacobs is experienced so he has been in the weight room. Good for him. I don't think Mac McClung's legend has anything to worry about. That goes for others as well. He would be a good pg at some small University, like Trinity.

I wasn't at the game. I saw it on a stream. I don't know who boo'd who. I know they had some sorry refs calling the game if that was not a flagrant foul. They got a striped uniform and a whistle. Do your job. As for who has the younger team next year, blah blah, I'm not hyping that. They may have their linebackers and safeties in pads next time.
