Silsbee is better than Canyon Randall.

I vaguely remember seeing Waldo Matthew’s play b ball. I started watching SHS (Silsbee High School) as early as 68-69. That’s what? 55, 56 years? It was mostly winning seasons, but there were some clunkers too. You would see a class graduate and you think ‘what are we going to do? There will never be..’ next thing you know another fabulous crop of athletes would drift in off the parks and play grounds and it is off to the races again. IOWs it’ll be aight, eventually. -

I discuss this all the time on the side. I don’t want to call out and embarrass a school boy athlete. He might snap out of it. I saw Carmelo Anthony play in a showcase game years ago. I didn’t think he was that good. The next season he led Syracuse to an ncaa championship. That shows how much I know. I still, say these kids Need math, reading & study skills. Everybody is not going to make it big playing basketball. -
I saw the very 1st game vs College Park. That was a tough team. I will probably be watching games on stream here on out. It is a home game so it should be on YouTube. Now they got some stream on HUDL. That looks promising. I can remember not internet. Then dial up. Technology keeps advancing. Silsbee should win by 25.

There was a time when PA Lincoln was the smaller 3A or 4A and the bigger schools in Beaumont and Houston didn't want to get on court with them. Usually the bigger schools have the best teams, but not always. -
Willis basketball player/coach altercation

If a young guy can't taking orders from a basketball coach he is not going to make it anywhere. Nobody will give you a job. The military won't take you. You can try and live dirty but they will unlike you very fast. -

A lot of it is common sense. You notice a school, like Katy for awhile, in the far West. Or NS in the East. And they win all the time. They put out all the D1 super athletes. and you wonder. Is it the water? Is the neighborhood sitting on top of mineral rich soil? Schools like Wembly, Carthage, Cuero. If you look at the records and they have been going to the state final four for the past 20 years. Or like NS, they produce all these top backs and lineman. Schools all around them can't see any of that coming their way. Or you look at the canyon girls basketball team. They rack up state championships 20 years in a row, or it seems that way. I am not going to waste time and gas hiding in the bushes to see what's going on. the UIL is not going to give me a job for finding something. I mean they have math courses, stuff like probability and statistics. They can formulate algorithms on what is and what should be. They got actuaries in the insurance business. they can input data like family history, what you eat day in day out, how much you drink. Where and who you hang out with. From all that they can estimate how long you are going to live. HS sports is no different. -

It has happened in the past. I’ve talked to the kids. They walk around. With NS merch on, but they live in Kashmere gardens. I grew up in Silsbee but I’ve spent a lot of time in Houston -

NS doesn’t schedule 4A schools in the Houston area because they soaked up all their talent like a giant sponge. Schools like Furr, Kashmere Sam Houston etc., don’t have competitive teams because NS recruited away all their talent. -
Jordan Adams is close to filing for social security. Let it go. It ain’t that deep.

UH OHH. That lil run was too close. The B town folks aka South Silsbee are stirred up.
-
Also B town is dangerous. They’re always showing up on FBI top crime stats lists.

Real basketball coaches, the smart ones, avoid playing potential playoff opponents as much as possible during the regular season. They don’t want playoff opponents to be too familiar with their way of doing things. Silsbee doesn’t play Yates, or BT Washington during the regular season. You’re not going to see a game like that until the playoffs. Also it is not all about basketball, ostensibly anyway. We’re talking about high school student athletes. A smart good ISD AD or coach understands that. So does the UIL. Remember them? So I say kick back & enjoy the games. The real high school basketball administrators got it under control. -

A team has to have a reputation as a really good team for those basketball academies to schedule you. Really good public schools will only play schools with a reputation for good basketball all year in year out. BU doesn't waste time playing in basketball tournaments that would have them playing Bridge City. Far as I know. Bridge city doesn't sign up for baseball tournaments that would have them playing BU or Westbrook. -

Some haven't forgotten the obvious: BU head coach Green is from Silsbee. He knows that level of basketball because he played at that level. Silsbee coach Sigler was his coach, and his mentor. They are probably good friends. Who wants to be riding in a bus for long stretches of time and miles to play a so called more worthy opponent on a cold Tuesday evening, when you can get a good run from a team 20 miles away. Arm chair keyboard warrior 'coaches' are good at cashing checks in their minds. -
