The idea that Kountze ball talent moved over to Silsbee is bogus and a lot of other things. There is too much pride and rivalry for that to happen. It is a friendly rivalry but rivalry nonetheless. Kountze started it off by winning state back in 1969. They have won 4 total. No self respecting b ball player from Kountze wants to help Silsbee catch up. There was that guy who was from Silsbee but ended up going to Kountze HS, he is the exception to the rule. That was at least 12 years ago. Keyboard lawyers been milking that down to the last drop. Let it go bro there is nothing there. Besides Silsbee did not benefit. Kountze kept that player and won 2 championships with him.

Didn’t Yates who plays for BU transferred from Kountze? Strange that the surge of BU basketball happened about the time Kountze went down. If it wasn’t for Hardin county grown coaches and players BU would be concentrating on playin golf right about now.

What threw me off was the way Yates handled Ccrosby. Crosby had a strong 5A team this season. When Yates blew them out I thought region III 4A is theirs. Everything else is just going through the motions.

It doesn't happen that often. You definitely don't want to force it. But Every once & awhile you run into a precocious youngster, or two, who is ready to play at the varsity level. Kareem Jabbar, Pete Maravich. When they were college freshmen everyone knew it was a waste of time for them to play on a freshman team. They were trying to get Maravich to play for the high school varsity when he was in the seventh or 8th grade.

The Jones Bros from Wharton weren't nothing nice. Does Connally have players as good? Ion know. Meanwhile the Tigers are at home resting up, catching up on their meals. By game time they should be ready. Not tryna look past Connally or anybody else, but some team has to go to SA & represent. Silsbee's chances of going are as good as anybody's.

Some freshmen aren't really freshmen with all the AAU & off season ball they play. I noticed that with Devon McCain & Jay Adams when they were freshmen. Then came Bre Bush who shattered freshmen expectations. All these middle school players they see all that, and they want to do the same thing.

Silsbee plays Waco Connally Tuesday?

It works spectacularly in football. It'll probably work in basketball too.

So Waco Connally obviously beat LBJ. Yates was a mystery team all year because they didn't have any showcases or holiday tournaments. Their big man looked every bit of 7 ft tall. That yesterday. Wharton is still in the playoffs so you got to respect them. We shall see.

Love watching Miller & Harris gliding in the open court. Lot of good contributions from others like Baltrip, Bottley, Gilder, the whole team. Somewhere I said that I've seen Silsbee out press & run Yates before. It has not happened every time they meet up, but it has happened. Like that time they played a special play in game, or something In Huntsville on a Thursday. Elam & Holmes et al, they pressed Yates into walking it up. JY won by double digits but Silsbee showed they are not intimidated by getting on the court with them. Perhaps I will be corrected, but I ain't tripping. I'm not getting paid for this. This is just me being me.
