  1. d about as well as they could. 2.). It was only our first or se/cond game back after 2 weeks of being out for COVID. And 3) we did not full out press and trap until that 4th quarter. By then it was too late. All in all the way the teams played that night no question Lumberton should have won. They played their best and we didn’t. Smart move coming off a team quarantine for a respiratory virus
  2. Tell me about it, and I grew up in Silsbee and I am a long time boys basketball fan.
  3. He is trying to get a reaction, I guess.
  4. I've never really understood or agreed with the concern with the dunk count.
  5. A lot of factors goes into SETx basketball as it relates to the district Silsbee plays in.  I am not trying to play the race card but ran is a factor.  Like I've mentioned I grew up in Silsbee.  The town has a large black population, larger than most of those towns in that district.  The young black boys in silsbee  love basketball.  they love football more but they love basketball.  they have learned over the years when I do good on the basketball court good things happen.  that's a good thing.

Most of those schools, Like Lumberton asre all white, and very conservative.` They have seen Silsbee do well, even win state and they are a bit envious.  whenever they can beat Silsbee on the court it is a big thing to them.  Competition is good.  Maybe the tide is turning.  We will see.

Covid was a factor.  it is hard for a team, especially a young team, such as Silsbee, to build up momentum, then get quaranteined, then have to build up momentum again.  This pandemic is unprecedented.  there may be some upsets in the playoffs because of the pandemic.  Were it not for the quarantine Silsbee might have won. Make that probably would have won.  Time will tell. You also have to factor in that Lumberton is like 8 players away from being a 5A school.  Silsbee is only half the size of Lumberton.

      AggiesAreWe

Race does not play in any way shape or form in regards to Lumberton beating Silsbee.

The black population that attends Silsbee schools is around 28%. Check the latest census.

Lumberton almost being 5A really has no bearing on where the two programs are currently. Silsbee has a total of 45 players in the basketball program at their high school. Lumberton has 34.

Next time, use the private message function. That way no one can see this message and punch holes in your "facts".

  6. Bless Willie Jones & his family. Need to get a chip or two out of all this.
  7. The tax cut in the last regime was a cut from billionaires that benefited other billionaires and millionaires. If you don't fall into either of those categories that cut didn't apply to you. You just thought it did. It was all smoke and mirrors.
  8. I wake up & go about my day. At the end of the day I think something is missing. Then I realize all those annoying and aggravating WH tweets are gone. the president in the Oval Office is busy doing something besides watching television and playing golf.
  9. I watch inaugurations like I watch sports these days. I watch maybe a little then go find something to do. Then I come back later and watch the highlights, probably on YouTube.
  10. I just figured it out chief.
  11. That is the catch then.
  12. I looked everywhere and could not find the boys game last Friday. It could have been on me.
  13. Not all of them. That last game vs Lumberton, the girls game was on video, not the boys.
  14. Go to you tube and look up Silsbee Tiger Nation.
  15. The game is being shown on you tube. No commentary. You gotta figure it out yourself. I tuned in in the 2nd qtr. I could not tell which team was which for a minute or two. WOS looks like the the more polished team to me. Silsbee making some sloppy passes. Perhaps it is a more experienced team, WOS, playing a young team, Silsbee. #. 23 for WOS is good.
  16. In hi sch in a PE class they had these two alpha male types that dominated the class. They were from North of Silsbee, white guys. Country and tough. I tried to stay out of their way. They were nice guys though. One of them was named Leo Spell. I forget the other guy's name. They were kinda of fond of me, at least in that class. They used to call me Charlie Pride, said I looked just like him. I didn't see it myself.
  17. I have been trying to understand a short video I saw last summer of two of the Jones bros. I saw it on twitter. It was a younger brother going one on one with Willie Jones Jr. in the back yard or somewhere. The younger Jones had some nice handles. I did not think it was the one on varsity, no offense. So I am guessing it is the brother playing on the JV.
  18. David Brown, 6'8". Played in the final four tourney. RIP. Pour some drink out. Michael Dabney. You should have seen him. Words cannot describe how good he was. James Hunter. If he wasn't so good a football he would of lit up basketball. James Simmons. Simmons?? Hey, full ride scolly to Rice. Graduated magna cum laude at a tier one law school. 30 40 years practicing law. All that gotta translate to Silsbee basketball greatness some kinda way.
  19. That 6'1" guard that could dunk. He played on HJ 's last state championship team. His name escapes me.
  20. With due respect to distaff basketball, this was the game that should have been visually recorded. If it is your camera and equipment you can obviously record whatever you want.
  21. I saw the Goffney Bros @ the Hester house. One went on to be a Dr., the other a lawyer. There two Sisters did the same thing. One's a Dr one is a lawyer. Mom became a judge. Serious family.
  22. I went to Silsbee High School for four years. I attended Lamar Fleming middle school one year. I've been around that area all my life.
