  1. You're right. My bad. The household should get a direct deposit on Wednesday. That is what tripped me up, lol.
  2. I see where Yates is winning over Houston 4A teams by single digits. They beat Kashmere by 2. They won over Furr and Wheatly by single digits. That says to me another team besides Yates or Silsbee could win region III 4A basketball. Key word is 'could'. Worry about that later. I would be highly surprised if they don't beat LCM by double digits on this coming Wednesday the 22nd.
  3. Won't have to wait long. By 930pm Wednesday we should know.
  4. I went to that game. It was the first of the season. It was a showcase put together by Jim Hicks. Dickinson had a stronger team last year. BU has a stronger team this year. Kasen Harrison put in work.
  5. BU's David Green is a defensive minded coach. He knows how to squeeze an opportunity with good defense. He used that strategy when he went to state out of Fort Bend. That team he won state with at North Shore was a good defensive team. So it is no surprise to me that BU is a good defensive team as well. Still gotta play the games. BU very well could take state in 5A. I would love to see BU play FFA. Ik, FFA is technically 4A, but still, that would be a good game to see.
  6. There is no substitute for experience. Huffman has a lot of it. HH could win region 3. They don't want no parts of Faith Family, but then who does? No team at the 4A level that's for sure. The season is young yet. District play hasn't really kicked in yet. There are always one of two surprises in the playoffs. Covid 19 is a factor. Who knows how this thing will end? So the Tigers need to ride with it. See where it goes.
  7. Irony: I saw Damien Bush play against Stephen Jackson.
  8. Flipping the script over to the side of the basketball realists, in regard to Brae Bush. I fit this category my self, to an extent. He's 5'6". The form on his shot, makes for streaky shooting. It got him to where he is, but will it take him further? In the NBA you got to have a consistently good shot if you are very short. But...here me out. Don't @ me just yet. When he took and hit that half court shot, and he did it more than once, so it wasn't no fluke, he showed me something, talking about Brae Bush. He showed me a winning mental toughness. Psychology plays a big part in sports. Some have that mental toughness, some don't. Athletes like qb Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, MJ they have it. Somebody like James Harden? Meh. Cause when you take a half court shot like that and you miss, and the momentum shifts In a big game like that...basketball realists, your coach, other coaches, the fans, etc. will be in you stuff from here to the UIL in Austin. But he has the moxey to make a shot like that and hit it, in a big game, under big pressure. That tells me not to bet against him maybe making it to the NBA, despite all his shortcomings. I'm not saying he will, but I would not be surprised if he did. He has the mental toughness to do so.
  9. That regional game in Huntsville, Bush's freshman year. Yates was living in a half million dollar high density condo rent free in Silsbee's head. The score was going back & forth. 2nd half, Brae Bush was feeling it. He let go a 3pt shot just inside the half court line. Whushh! Nothing but net. You could feel the confidence leaving Yates like air leaving a balloon. That is my favorite Bush play or moment.
  10. It takes heredity & what a person is willing to commit their mind to. The dna is out there, but most of the Christian McCaffertys, Mac Macclungs, & present day Bud Heberts are applying themselves to studying finance, chemical engineering or history so they can get into a good law school. Being that arenas & stadiums are capped at 25% capacity those are not bad choices.
  11. Shaq, Dennis Rodman, Spud Webb, Mookie Blaylock, that Pg that played for Utah, Clyde Drexler. Bush didn't say he was the 9th best, somebody else did. I am sure right now he is studying, or keeping time with some attractive co-ed. Last thing on his mind is what somebody has to say on this msg board.
  12. Bush's main hold back is his 5'6" height, obviously. That he accomplished all that he did at that height is amazing! File this under coulda, shoulda woulda, but if he was 6"00 or even 6'02 he'd be playing for Duke, Kansas, or Kentucky.
  13. Perhaps you are referring to Pierce Hellums who played HS ball at Tomball Concordia. He plays for SHSU and appears on their roster this year and last year. I don't see anyone named Todd on that roster, nor anyone from Huffman.
  14. I am a bit euphoric being this is my birthday. Posting more than normal, sending thank you on Facebook there. Today was a good day, didn't have to use my AK. That's a line from a famous rap song, by the way. Lemme go to bed. Peace.
  15. I saw Huffman vs. Yates in Kingwood last season, or was it the season before? Huffman had this player that could shoot from the perimeter lights out. I'm guessing that was Harvey. I think he was a sophomore then, so he should be a Sr. now. His shooting kept HH in the game in the first half but Yates press and traps wore him down and he didn't shoot as well down the stretch. Can Yates new players run and play defense like they have in the past? With no show cases, and tournaments it is harder to tell. I sat next to some Huffman students. They were some nice young men.
  16. Winning in the 1st round of the playoffs is alright. It is much better than not winning the first round that's for sure. A certain 1st round loss comes to mind. Still, it gets old. To really make some noise, so to speak, a team needs to upset a known good opponent. I really want to know: just how good is HH? Are they good enough to get past Yates and go to state?
  17. Yep, that last sentence by Boneyard wasn't structured just right.
  18. I feel certain Silsbee will make the playoffs, as the outright winner, or runner up. Maybe even third. All that remains to be played out. What's at stake is who plays the better teams in the other districts first in the playoffs. I kinda know how playoff seeding works, but I don't have it down pat. . District games should be interesting for a change. Fans in Lumberton, LCM and Bridge City are getting fired up. Fans in Silsbee stay lit.
  19. He was 6'1, and slender. Now I think about it your were referring to Adams, but I had McCain on my mind.
  20. No, Devon McCain. He was 5'8". when his Fr season started. By the playoffs he was 6'1". He transferred from Austin Peay to Clarendon College in the Texas Panhandle.
  21. If it is the same person he transferred to a JC recently, but he is still in the game.
  22. Honorable mention: coach Bill Krueger @ Clear Creek and Clear Lake.
