Silsbee 63 Beaumont United 109/FINAL

Welp, I don't have any skin in this game or season, other than Tiger pride. During that long haul to the first Silsbee championships, I would like to think I learned to be patient. -

I've only seen highlight snippets of streams of Jared Harris' game. I was hoping / thinking he was a ball handler. He has time to work on that if he is not. -

I was at that game. Kudos to Sahvir Wheeler. He showed a lot of heart and stamina in that game. Coach Wise had a long bench, with plenty of fouls to give. -

Pure speculation on my part. I don't know anything about how it is done. Having said that LP could fill the dead air time with commercials from sponsors, and make some money. -
When they go awhile not posting that is usually not a good sign.

BH ain't no punk team. They will put up a fight.

I saw Frank Zappa in concert on two different occasions as well.

I shy away from secular music these days. Growing up though: Jimi Hendrix. I first heard him in 1966. on my transistor radio via the old soul station in Beaumont KJET. The song: hey Joe. I could not get into the psychildeic stuff like purple haze, not then. I a said I would pick back up on Hendrix when I was older.. Came home from Silsbee HS one day in September and Walter Cronkite told me he was dead. I felt such a loss. I'd go into detail, but it is a long story. I would of kicked the Hendrix obsession were it not for three songs: machine guns, who knows and the star spangled banner @ Woodstock. I've heard all his stuff, except some of the posthumous stuff. I've read 3 or 4 of his biographies. One I like so much I got the audio book version. Here I was riding around listening to a Hendrix bio. My soul bros and sis could not relate in Hi School so I went to the white guys, the long hairs, the new 70s hippies. They understood. They turned me on, or I discovered myself Led Zappeling, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis. The bios I read said Hendrix and miles were good friends. So I discovered Miles that way. I saw. Eric Clapton and Freddy King in concert in 75. Maybe 1e0 mo. later Freddy died. Saw John Lee Hooker, Albert King and some more. Saw BB King and Carlos Santana on a twin bill in Petaluma Ca. Saw Peter Tosh but not Bob Marley in San Fran. I listened to r&b and stuff early, but rock jazz blues all that started for me with Hendrix. It is 3 am or so and I don't feel up to editing, so please excuse my spelling.

Dude been gone two years. He will have gotten a degree and/or retired from the NBA & somebody on here will be still be talking about some free throws he shot in the 6th grade.

That is the clearest, cleanest stream of a hs basketball game I've see or heard. Is this a bootleg stream? Or, did some new streaming rules get passed? Not that I am complaining. Whoever recorded this used a very good camera. -
Besides, if someone has legit beef, then take it to the UIL & see how far you can get with it. (my peoples, my peoples, like crabs in a barrel.)

Jordan Adams went to middle school in Silsbee. Before that the family lived in Center, or in that area. The dad, Rob, played championship ball up there. He's the one told me all that.

Man there are enough Tylers living in Silsbee they could start their on town. The Tylers in Beaumont come from Silsbeee too. Same goes for Cartwrights, Hadnots, Spearman's, Hudsons, Gores, Carters. They need to drop the name Beaumont and gone and call it South Silsbee.

The UIL places public schools in conferences according to enrollment. Silsbee has 774 students. They would need to add 456 students to be placed in 5A. The UIL makes. some adjustments here & there but that is basically how it goes. As far as Silsbee's basketball talent, well, they play a lot of basketball in Silsbee. The more hoop you run the better you get at it. it is just that simple.

My thoughts exactly. I was looking at that box score and wondering the same.

Before this board there were basketball slabs, in parks. Concrete slabs. Thankful for them. Before the parks and slabs there were dirt courts. Somebodie's grass worn down to dirt where the teens played basketball. There was a dirt court in the Simmons brothers back yard. The first basketball park I can remember was right around the corner from that back yard, that was the 9th street park. All this is in Silsbee. I remember seeing Michael Dabney playing with the big boys at a dirt court across from Waldo Matthews. They later put up a basketball court at WM. They put up another one on 21st street off MLK. Now they playing hoops in gyms: the boys and girls club, the old jr hi school gym, Running & shooting hoops on wood floor: Sweet. When I was a soph, or higher they would open the gymi in the summer over by the old football field. That turned into little dribblers. They had similar facilities in Kountze. Maybe they did in HJ, or Clear Creek. I don't know.

Private sector companies, entities want to take over public sector jobs and responsibilities. FFA is private sector. Public schools are obviously public. Can't prove it, but you can follow the money. Money gets results. If you wanna make some money you gotta spend some money. So those private sector guys lobby the state representatives. The representative gets a fishing trip here, a nice hunting trip there, a campaign contribution here, steak dinners at top restaurants, etc. The end result basketball regulations get tilted in their favor. People are always complaining about no prayer in schools, things of that nature. So you wrap it all up in a religious facade, or pseudo religious facade, and voila you got a private sector basketball factory.

The next 3 games will answer a lot of questions for the Silsbee Tigers 2020 2021. Barbers Hill in Barbers Hill is not an easy game. BU, is one of the best teams in the state regardless of conference. Woodville is ranked. The tigers have a legit post in terms of size. He's a D1 tight end prospect so he should be tough. I don't know what basketball skills he has. Nice to have him in the middle just the same. You really can't tell about a team until you see them in person. Each season the team is different from the season before.
