  1. Besides, if someone has legit beef, then take it to the UIL & see how far you can get with it. (my peoples, my peoples, like crabs in a barrel.)
  2. Jordan Adams went to middle school in Silsbee. Before that the family lived in Center, or in that area. The dad, Rob, played championship ball up there. He's the one told me all that.
  3. Man there are enough Tylers living in Silsbee they could start their on town. The Tylers in Beaumont come from Silsbeee too. Same goes for Cartwrights, Hadnots, Spearman's, Hudsons, Gores, Carters. They need to drop the name Beaumont and gone and call it South Silsbee.
  4. The UIL places public schools in conferences according to enrollment. Silsbee has 774 students. They would need to add 456 students to be placed in 5A. The UIL makes. some adjustments here & there but that is basically how it goes. As far as Silsbee's basketball talent, well, they play a lot of basketball in Silsbee. The more hoop you run the better you get at it. it is just that simple.
  5. My thoughts exactly. I was looking at that box score and wondering the same.
  6. Before this board there were basketball slabs, in parks. Concrete slabs. Thankful for them. Before the parks and slabs there were dirt courts. Somebodie's grass worn down to dirt where the teens played basketball. There was a dirt court in the Simmons brothers back yard. The first basketball park I can remember was right around the corner from that back yard, that was the 9th street park. All this is in Silsbee. I remember seeing Michael Dabney playing with the big boys at a dirt court across from Waldo Matthews. They later put up a basketball court at WM. They put up another one on 21st street off MLK. Now they playing hoops in gyms: the boys and girls club, the old jr hi school gym, Running & shooting hoops on wood floor: Sweet. When I was a soph, or higher they would open the gymi in the summer over by the old football field. That turned into little dribblers. They had similar facilities in Kountze. Maybe they did in HJ, or Clear Creek. I don't know.
  7. Private sector companies, entities want to take over public sector jobs and responsibilities. FFA is private sector. Public schools are obviously public. Can't prove it, but you can follow the money. Money gets results. If you wanna make some money you gotta spend some money. So those private sector guys lobby the state representatives. The representative gets a fishing trip here, a nice hunting trip there, a campaign contribution here, steak dinners at top restaurants, etc. The end result basketball regulations get tilted in their favor. People are always complaining about no prayer in schools, things of that nature. So you wrap it all up in a religious facade, or pseudo religious facade, and voila you got a private sector basketball factory.
  8. The next 3 games will answer a lot of questions for the Silsbee Tigers 2020 2021. Barbers Hill in Barbers Hill is not an easy game. BU, is one of the best teams in the state regardless of conference. Woodville is ranked. The tigers have a legit post in terms of size. He's a D1 tight end prospect so he should be tough. I don't know what basketball skills he has. Nice to have him in the middle just the same. You really can't tell about a team until you see them in person. Each season the team is different from the season before.
  9. Ion know. Bridge City may give Silsbee a run this year.
  10. I kinda like HJ now actually. I went from indifferent to a slight fan. I don't let high school basketball run my life. I've seen Silsbee lose. I've experienced them winning 2 championships. Scratch that off the bucket list. I worked for the state Texas 30 years; 20 of those years were with dps. I am retired now. I do a lil Doordash delivery. I am tryna get my notary loan signatures hustle going. On the weekends I used to go an Adventist Church but they've been closed for awhile because of covid 19. So I watch the services on Facebook. I don't belong to blm, or antifa, none of that. If somebody does well, to each his own. I've never been to jail. I don't drink or smoke. I seldom go home to Silsbee. When I do I go check on my 93 year old uncle. maybe take him to Walmart or to cracker barrel in Beaumont. My 3 year old grand son recently discovered basketball at his Montessori school. His twin sister likes ballet. When they are old enough to discover PS 5 watch out!

  12. texas hoops owns real estate in your head. You quote him like a parrot.
  13. I'm thinking the same thing.
  14. That's okay. Progress is good.
  15. It is all hypothetical. BU has a very good team from what I've read. They may go all the way. If they do it would not bother me.
  16. Put it like this, if the move had not been blocked he would off played for Silsbee that season.
  17. I did. You took it down.
  18. ` Instead of writing 'a definite Silsbee flavor'. I should of left definite out and just said a silsbee flavor. Semantics in SE Texas.
  19. The head coach.
  20. Actually I've been complimenting Sour Lake and HJISD. In some respects they are more progressive than my home town Silsbee.
  21. Remember that, when some of the stuff I've tried to introduce here come true.
  22. It would be a waste of time.
  23. From thesaurus.com: Rivalry is a synonym for opposition in conflict topic. In some cases you can use "Rivalry" instead a noun "Opposition", when it comes to topics like obstruction, enemy. Obstruction, enemy were their choice of words not mine.
  24. It wasn't one of my better ones. But I've been sleeping good so I am not worried about it.
