  1. I have had several chances to see him play around town, but I never cashed in on those opportunities. I was at a show case at the beginning of last season. His game was the last of the night. I was sore from sitting on the bleachers, so I left. I could kick myself now.
  2. Read Matt 27: 1-50. KJV. As long as the word is in your heart & soul the church & the cross are not going anywhere.
  3. I was not preaching to others. I stated my perspective. I don't remember seeing many crosses. I haven't been directly in church in a couple of months now, due to the virus pandemic. I am sure there are church bulletins with pictures of the cross. There are no stained glass windows with the cross. It is just a church.
  4. Does it matter? Gang bangers wear crosses. It does not make them better. Same for the KKK. Do they burn crosses because they are overwhelmed with love?. Since everyone is set on vilifying blm maybe they use crosses too. IDK.
  5. Are there icons or pictures of Jesus on the cross in my church? No. The fact He did is one of the greatest events in the history of this world. That biblical truth stands on its own merit. I don't need to wear it around my neck on a chain to make it more significant.
  6. Personally I've never seen anyone from BLM. I've never been to their meetings. I don't contribute money to them in any way. The same with the KKK, the Nazis, etc. One of my favorite movies about Christ is The Gospel of John. The lead actor was white, with blue eyes and long brown hair. I overlooked all that so I could focus on the message the film conveyed. That's just me. I doubt seriously if Jesus looked European, but I don't care to open that Pandora's box of controversy. Besides, worshipping idols and icons in the name of worshipping Jesus is a sin. See the 2nd commandment. I didn't sign off on tearing down all those statues. Let them stay. They are going to all burn up soon anyway along with the rest of this world.
  7. I agree. You can't let a word provoke you into prison time, or getting shot. I remember once I was with one of my uncles. We were on the peninsular side of the .Galveston ferry. We were going to or coming from Beaumont/Silsbee. Anyway, my uncle went into this bait house store and I stayed outside in his car. I was about 20 at the time. This drunk cajun looking dude was in the back of a pickup parked not far from us. He just started cursing me out and calling me the N word as often as he could get it out. We were the only blacks there. There were lots of people around but they all kept quiet. They looked embarrassed. My uncle came out of the store and he got an earful of what was being said. I asked my uncle where was his piece. He said no, he didn't have one. I knew he was lying, but I let it go. I wasn't gonna do anything with it anyway. We just drove off. Looking back, when I think about that uncle I think about that incident and how wise he was. He is gone on now, but he taught me something that day.
  8. A cross version of why it happened. Allegedly the guy dropped the N word. The attack was still stupid IMO. Some rapper, said he heard it as well. He was the one who filmed the video.
  9. I can't answer for the actions of every black person in the USA. It is impossible. There are a lot of unblalanced people with serious mental problems walking around amongst us. I doubt if they will get any help with their problems. They will end up dead or locked up. I am not totally against concealed carry. If you have a gun and an LTC do what you have to do to protect yourself. If you are in a department store they should have cameras to back you up.
  10. I lied. I only saw it one time on tv and they did not show the whole event. They shot him fatally and an officer was left blind in one eye. Th
  11. I've only seen that video once. I may go looking for it.
  12. Another video I. saw was an exception, and there are always exceptions. I try not to bring. up situations where this guy got shot while another guy on the other side of the nation, and is white, didn't get shot. This video was shown on a national program. It just so happened it occurred in Conroe. This white guy was brandishing a shotgun at this small strip mall. It was an upscale small mall. So the conroe pd, or the sheriff's showed up. The guy took a defensive position along side of a concrete pillar. The camera was looking right over the shoulder of the deputy. The guy had that shotgun pointed straight at the officer. The camera shot was straight down the barrel of that gun. All he had to do was pull the trigger. Somehow no shots were fired. He lived. How he got out of that alive is beyond me. The officer he pointed that shotgun at, and his partner were very brave and/or not smart. Every officer is not going to show that much restraint.
  13. Re: Atlanta. If you are high or whatever. Sleeping in the drive thru lane at Wendy's. Police come. You actions basically bought that on. You get into a tussle with the police and end up taking a taser from one of them. You can go ahead and kiss whatever you want to kiss good bye. They are going to blow you away, and in this case they did. That was justifiable homicide. At the end of the day LEOs like to go home to their spouses and family just like everyone else.
  14. I haven't sort out my thoughts in regards to BLM. All blacks do not think alike. We do not all vote alike. I am on the sidelines, with a bag of popcorn, watching all this stuff unfold. I didn't attend any meetings. I seldom hear any speeches. I listen to my pastor at church. Sometimes Rep Sheila Jackson Lee stands up and has a word on what is going on in DC. She is a member and is a 2nd or 3rd generation 7th day adventist. Sometimes I go visit the church in the Woodlands. They are a bit more conservative there but they don't let that get in the way of bible prophecy. I don't quite have a grasp of current trends.
  15. It is a lot of things. Church and religion play a big part. I know one guy from sugar land who elevated to where he is now the interim President of the Univ of Arkansas. Dr Charles Robinson. Another guy from a single parent home in Detroit, who is now a cabinet member in the WH. Talking about Ben Carson. Another guy from a single parent home who is now the senate chaplain, Dr Barry Black.
  16. One pulled from the fire:
  17. Ion k. My wife worked as a clerk in a bank. She paved the way for our daughter to work at the same place p/t while she went to college. Now she is a VP with a mba. Some progress has been made. Obviously more is needed. When those young guys do stuff like that it makes it harder on the rest of us. Don't think for a moment I don't feel it.
  18. I was around for the MLK assassination. Information back then moved at a snails pace compared to now. Back then you would have to wait until the next day's paper to see pictures. Or wait until Look magazine, or Life or Ebony came out in a week or a month. By then the news cycle probably had shifted.
  19. I actually pay attention to 1/8th of what is posted here.
  20. Yes. I forgot to mention her name. I posted that in the we hours of the morning.
  21. One of the few places I hear about BLM or Black Lives Matter is in this section of this msg board. I've never seen a member of BLM. I've never seen a meeting place. Probably a good thing cause somebody would probably bomb it. Maybe if I attended the recent protests I would have seen some. Protests are too volatile for me. BLM so I stay at home. I didn't need BLM TO know that my life matters. Black people were created by the same God that created everyone and everything else. God is going to reconcile the deaths of those killed and murdered. Maybe it was homie down the street or the local police the situation will be investigated. Maybe not in this life but for sure in the judgment to come..
  22. In the mid nineties I worked for Texas Workforce Commission. I was a civilian employee at dps. Ever since I started working there they were begging for troopers to apply.
  23. Well, there was this lady. She died in 1915, somewhere around there. :Many consider her a prophet of God, I a one of them. She has a lot of haters too. Really true prophets are seldom popular with the general public. She predicted that what is happening in Chicago is mild compared to what will happen to most cites in this country and around the world. She saw that many of the tall buildings, if not most of them, will be leveled. Back in 1835 the civil war was unthinkable. There was a lot of hot debate but hardly anyone expected a war. She was in attendance at a church, a relatively small church. She stood up and told the congregation that five or six families in that church would lose sons in that war. Sure enough, when the war was over, it happened. just as she said. She also had things to say about 9/11. She said tall buildings would fall in NYC. At the time the tallest building was maybe 8 to 10 stories. At one time she was living in Australia. The Lord had told her to move there and help establish institutions down there. Here in the USA she was in on a lot of important committees in the church. Some guys in the church tried to do some back handed stuff regarding a project, etc. They had set a soon date to vote their plans into business. The Lord told her before hand to leave and go back and be at that meeting. Back then it would take at least a month to travel from Australia to the USA. When the meeting was called she was the first one there, sitting on the front row. Many other stories like this.
  24. I talked with people from Chicago when I worked for dps. One of the fundamental things people have to get done when they move to a different city and state is get a local ID or driver license. Some take care of it right away, some wait until the last minute. You can almost tell where things are going good by the amount of people moving in to Houston and Texas from that state. I talked to people from Chicago almost every day. Many of them say that Chicago overall is a great place to live. Certain areas are out of control, but most of Chicago is very nice. I have never sat foot inside the Chi city limits so I have to take their word for it. Most of the negativity I hear about Chicago comes from this message. I am certain people here are getting their information from places like Breitbart. My world view is strongly influenced by my seventh day adventist belief system. It is a very biblical and prophetic belief system. God was not caught off guard by recent events. It says in His word and I can quote book and verse, that He doesn't do anything, or allow anything to happen unless he first tells His servants the prophets. I've been hearing about things happening now since I was 8 or 9. I wasn't told precise events I was told events similar to what is going on today would happen. So I am surprised somewhat but I am not totally surprised. I've been watching things, again since I was a boy. Sometimes I start to let my guard down, so to speak, then something wild and unusual would happen. And I would say to my self, yep, that's a sign.
  25. This happened 8 to 10 years ago, way before more recent incidents had made it to the news. Before Ferguson, before that guy was shot in the back in Charleston SC, before all the recent ones. I think about it all the time. I live in my own little world. I go to work, or I did, then back home. I drive to church, then we go out to eat, to a high school basketball game occasionally, and that's it. My wife likes to stay home as much or more than I do. I watch shows like the 1st 48, drugs inc, but that is about as close as I get to it. Meanwhile it is a real war going on. All kinds of stuff comes through H town on the highways. The good guys have guns, and the bad guys do too. Crazy.
