I agree.

Michael Dabney didn't play varsity until he was a sophomore in 1973. He could have and probably should have played on that 1972 team as a freshman. Maybe they didn't allow freshmen to play then. I don't know.
-
David Brown & James Hunter were Silsbee class of 1972. May they both RIP.
-
They were the stars of the Kountze 1969-70 championship team.

David Brown, Michael Dabney. David Brown was 6'8", HS all American. He played in the NCAA final four for Memphis. May he RIP. David Brown was good friends with James Hunter. Both were class of 1972. Michael Dabney was class of 1975.

Before he blew out his knee Michael Dabney was the best I've seen play for Silsbee. I wish there was film to prove my point. I was at a recent thanksgiving showcase at a gym on Houston Episcopal high school. I was watching BU play somebody. I was talking to this old PA Lincoln player. I was telling him about the great PA Lincoln teams, and players. He quickly shot right back "man but that Michael Dabney for Silsbee was a beast!" True story..

That ref got paid.

Wow the Zags. That’s why I don’t bet.

If a team or a coach knows how to manipulate the transfer portal and cherry pick key players from here and there, that college program can get to the final four in a little of no time. I’m not saying that is bad thing or a good thing. I’m saying that is the reality of the situation.

I mentioned this game before. Back when Kendrick Perkins was like a sophomore at Ozen they played a NYC Harlem team named NY Rice. The game was at MO Campell. That team was short, about Nowell's height. They might have had one or two 6'1s. They all played like the pg for Kansas State. They put on a clinic, made Ozen look silly.

Nowell and Ismael Massed for K State.

Transfer portal in full effect.

Qasim Boyd, Dickinson, I thought he was worthy to be all state. Also that guard for Episcopal.
-
One more on this: the K State guard, (I forget his name) is from NYC Harlem. Bush of course is from Silsbee. NY is a whole other basketball environment. Their basketball skills is like world class chess compared to the kind of chess I play. Places like NY, Chicago, So Cal, N Carolina, etc., basketball is on a different level compared to greater SE Texas. I played some pick up basketball, I wasn't nothing special for sho. Once when I was in the coast guard I got into a 3 on 3 game in a gym in Jacksonville FL with some navy guys. The guy I called myself holding was from Chicago. He went up for a shot and I jumped. to try and block it. He just hovered in the air and made 2 or 3 in air moves. All the time I could hear him up there laughing. And he was just a guy that went to the navy.

Kayde Dotson?

IMO Bush needs to get on to a 4 year school, get a degree, make enough NIL to pay off his mortgage…The rest is gravy.
-
He is bigger, but Bush is in good shape, and this is not football. He maybe slightly better than Bush, but not by much.
-
Nowell is 5’8” and resembles Brae Bush.

Come on Terrance Arceneaux. Get you some of that glory.

THSCA does not recognize the Faith Family championship

This is the Ja Morant syndrome. Ja's dad is more like a trainer than father. A lot of these kids live in a sports bubble. They eat, sleep and live basketball. In season ball, off season ball. If they are good enough they go to the G league, or NIL from this college or that. They are mercenaries. -

Exactly. FF is a power move by the state legislature. Similar to the power grid fiasco. -
Some interesting info on Faith Family

I beg to differ. I only know of one Dan Patrick in Texas politics aka Dan Patrick the Lieutenant Governor of Texas. Back in 1983 DP boldly predicted UH Phi Slama Jama would beat NC St, but they didn't. It wasn't his fault. Everybody felt the same way. He was a tv sports guy then. Then he partnered a sports bar, one of the first of its kind. Then he went to radio and talked sports on 700 KSEV. He then went from talking sports to talking conservative politics, to being a republican senator. Now Lieutenant Governor. If there is a 2nd Dan Patrick I am not aware of it.
