I didn't say the two freshmen factor goes against FF, I just said it is an issue. Personally I am hoping the two young guys show out and go home with the big trophy.

Faith family has two starting freshmen. One of those two is that team's top scorer. This prompts one to ask the question: can a team that starts two freshmen hold up under the pressure of winning a state championship?

One more thing: H-Rocket and Bayou 713 (remember him?) are one in the same person. Not sure who he is in real life & don't want to know. But that's the same person.

I Devon's hand has never fully healed. And I also think Bush's ankle was a factor. You don't fall down in pain one game then get back up a few days later in another game playing 100 percent.

Silsbee was more motivated last year I guess. Also, Bush got extremely hot in that game. He was hitting shots that would break an opposing team's spirit.

Yates was a mystery team for me this year. They didn't play in the holiday tournaments. So I didn't get to see them then. Then they started district play. Going to see them play the other 4A teams here in Houston is down right boring. Then I finally got to see them in Kingwood vs Hardin Jefferson. I was impressed but I kept it to myself. I even thought they may just take it all. They had a deep bench like Silsbee had last year and the year before. They can run and press just like Silsbee, but they had a thing that Silsbee does not have. They got about five or six players that can consistently hit the three. So they ran with HJ for 2 & 1/2 to 3 qtrs until they got them tired. Then Yates started hitting 3s from around the circle. Right then I felt in the back of my mind that Silsbee was in trouble. I was hoping I was wrong. But it turned out I wasn't. A team that can run and put five players on the 3 pt line that can shoot that is a serious combination. Hopefully somebody in the 77656 is going to the gym soon and working on that. No criticism though. I love what I saw over the last four or five seasons from Silsbee. I thought I'd never see them win state. I got to see them do it twice. The 3peat should be already on the books. Still a two piece with some red beans & rice and a biscuit ain't too bad at all.

Down through the years, the goal in my mind was for Silsbee to win state. A lot of talent has worn the Silsbee uniform but it was hard to take the lid off the goal. We were over shadowed by Kountze, even though they were in smaller classification, Hardin Jefferson. Maybe could a woulda won a trophy except for the PA Lincoln dynasty. That lasted seemed like ten years. Then all those great inner city started dropping down to Silsbee's classification. Schools like Yates, Wheatley, D Lincoln, Carter, D Madison. It's a bunch of them. Then over the last 5 seasons or so a championship was close despite all of that. Silsbee finally won two state championships. Might not sound like much but it is definitely better than none. Psychologically the lid is off the basket. At least it should be. Some of those youngsters have been watching. They know a state championship can be won in Silsbee. Sooner or later it will happen again.

Silsbee didn't have the same passion as they did during the two championship seasons. Everything was 3peat, without taking into account the grind necessary to bring that about. It is not that easy. After winning state two times it is hard to maintain that edge. Meanwhile if you run into an opponent that is both talented and hungry you can get your hat handed to you.

A good portion of the regional final game last year was recorded and viewed. I won’t say who. I certainly enjoyed watching it. That is probably not happening this year. NFHS may have some streaming. You probably will have to pay $11.00 to see it.

Putting it together, hoopinsider.com used to show games video recorded on an iPhone. I am guessing they must have gotten in trouble for that.

So, speaking of region III the winners of this Tuesday's games go to the regional final four tournament, correct? Same for the other three regions.

That guy for Somerset was 6 ft 10,185lbs. If he had been 6 ft 10 220 or 230lbs, with some skills it would of been a whole different game. But, he wasn't, and that's that.,

Apparently the deficit is just a political football with Republicans.

Barnes, Trajan Harris, Michael McCain, etc. Those guys are gone on. A few of em will give you a good run in a pick up game down on 21st street.

Have you seen how the deficit has grown? Oh, that's right. The deficit is only a major issue when a democrat is in the white house.

I say get past regionals and deal with Argyle later, if they can get by Decatur.

I like watching HJ play. They are pesky, scrappy, and fearless.

Yates has a deep bench. So they and run, press and trap until their opponent loses their legs. Then Yates shooters, and they have several, start swishing uncontested 3s. Silsbee's best six or seven may have a slight edge on Yates...maybe. But as the game goes on, and if Silsbee gets tired,..I don't know. If they both make it to the regional final, it will be a very good game.
