  1. Looks to be a good day of basketball. Kudos to Jim Hicks & everyone who worked to put this showcase together. Wish I could get there at 9am or whenever it starts, but those last four games, starting at 3:30pm, those are some need to see games. Yates, Silsbee, Cy Falls, SA Wagner, Austin Westlake, whoa! They are all right there.
  2. As I've stated before this thing is much bigger than white on black. This is a cosmic fight between good and evil, it is the great controversy between christ & satan. The social conflict is just one fight. This thing involves the elements like great storms, floods, conflagrations, earthquakes in divers places. The adversary is much bigger than just white people or racism. The race issue could be solved and it is still a monumental fight. People are fighting over control and hegemony of a planet that won't be around much longer. That's a waste of time.
  3. TABC rankings come out tomorrow. That should spark some posts, probably a new topic thread.
  4. White conservatives on this forum, the five or six that show up on a consistent basis, you guys are not trying to understand, you are trying to win some silly argument. So you search the internet to find some article that some black guy wrote, then you copy and paste it here, even start a thread. All the time you are on the outside looking in, and you look foolish doing it. You have to live it to understand it. The fact that you are white means you can't live it nor understand it. African american culture looks simple on the surface, but it is quite complex. Some blacks have a little money, many do not. Some have white parents, mexican parents, many do not. Many are raised by single mothers, some are fortunate enough to have their dads or step dads in their lives. Black folks flip words and phrases quickly, almost a quick as they invent dance steps. Popular dance yesterday was the molly rock, who knows what it is today? Same thing with catch phrases. The term uncle tom was played out at least forty years ago. The only time I hear it is when I read it here. Y'all need to catch up, but i don't think you really can, or want to.
  5. All black people don't rally around Kaepnernick. I've said it scores of times, we are not monolithic in thinking. Personally I've been cycling down on my football viewing for years, way before current events came up. I still watch a little Houston Texans and that's about it. It used to be the Dallas Cowboys, but that's another story. If you can frame it you can solve it, here's the solution: the USA is coming to an end. This whole world, as we know it, is coming to and end. Jesus Christ is coming back. Before He returns there will be a time of trouble such as the world has never seen (Daniel 12:1,2). That's why there is so much strife and division on this forum. It is happening every where.
  6. I don't follow Kaepernick in the media. Most of the information I hear about him comes from this section of the message board. Ultimately the goal is the fear God who can destroy not only the body but also the soul & the body in hell.
  7. I take my oppression problems and all other problems to Jesus Christ. A lot of this could have been avoided. I blame NFL HOF and current announcer James Loftin He is Kaepernick's biological father.
  8. I remember when TV used to end. That was a long time ago, timewise and culturally speaking. We only had kfdm channel 6, channel 4 and channel 12 what ever it's call sign was. Cutting edge were the uhf channels. Then we got the color tv which was 4 ft wide and 2.5 feet deep, or so it seems now. My friends had cable tv. They used to tell me about comedy shows I'd never heard of. The idea of paying to watch cable tv was anathema to my parents. I didn't start watching cable until I was 30 years old and married.
  9. I enjoy the John Phillips Souza and the Aggie marching band versions as well.
  10. The qb for Jasper named Sells. I think the Silsbee guy that hit him has the same last name. They're probably distant cousins.
  11. The NFL isn't going any where. There are too many sports junkies in this country. "Too many of those and too many degenerate sports gamblers. Besides, the nfl and football in general is a false religion anyway. Ain't no way the devil is going to let a time waster like that fall to the wayside.
  12. Silsbee is good enough to win it all again in 4A. They are not good enough to do all that other stuff.
  13. That's one of the things I dislike about offseason ball. People jump to conclusions before the real season gets going.
  14. A lot of experience and talent graduated from Silsbee last season, not to mention strong personalities as well. When football is over and the team comes together I expect they will gel and then make a strong run in the playoffs. They just have to maybe weather some early storms.
  15. It amazes me how Trump went out of his way during his campaign and presidency to malign and mock many people, and yet Clinton uses the word deplorable one time, and it becomes a rallying cry.
  16. Learn from the mistakes of last season. Forget about being state champs, as much as you can. Winning it all was a nice psychological hurdle to cross. What seemed elusive and almost down right mythical can be seen now as just something to do. Get hungry, if you're not already there. Stay hungry. Go out & win it all again.
  17. This is the wrong part of cyberspace to be in a discussion about black perspective. I can think of other places I would feel comfortable having that discussion. Personally I stand for the anthem. i sometimes put my hand on my heart. When i served in the military I saluted the flag. At the same time I enjoyed Jimi Hendrix version of the star spangled banner at woodstock. I watched when US sprinters John Carlos & Tommie Smith gave the black power salute during the anthem at the olympics in Mexico in 1968. I didn't think they would ever get another job, but they did. As for what this guy had to say in his video, it is kind of tired, trite even, but used over and over in this forum and elsewhere. The guys here and elsewhere will search until they find a black person whose point of view they like, then throw the video or article in your face. That's just one guy saying whatever. I could easily find 20 videos of people saying something else. If I cared enough to put that much effort into it I would. IMO Jimi "said it" best: Hendrix Star Spangled Banner.
  18. Trump plays to his political base. They are the ones who got him elected. They have a big say in keeping him in office. He has very little broad political support. He has alienated most of that. So he says and does things that his loyalists like to hear. When he spoke to the group of police officers and told them to rough up people, in so many words. His base liked that. Same thing when he went before the UN and threatened to totally destroy N Korea. Calling NFL players who take the knee SOBs he is doing the same thing, namely saying what his loyalists want to hear.
  19. I just heard that the new HISD basketball schedulele has been released. If true then the Silsbee schedule can't be far behind.
  20. I read somewhere Silsbee vs Center away, Tuesday Dec 19th 2017.
  21. Slazinski & Smith were an exciting b-ball duo. I saw them and the WC team twice last year. Smith's drive down the lane & slam against Silsbee would be legendary if it were recorded just right. Getting there at 9:30am to watch Westbury Christian is not as big of a deal now.
  22. I've visited a church in that area. I also worked over there for awhile. May have to explain why I won't be home til 10 on thanksgiving eve. If I could i would get there at 9:00am & watch Westbury Christian. I doubt if I will be able to. Quinn Slazinski is gone. I guess it's Charles Smith IV's team, so to speak. Hopefully I can see some of the Lamar v PA Memorial game. All of the games look interesting. Is there not a second basketball showcase? Last year Silsbee played two games in two locations thanksgiving weekend.
  23. Yes, that was Chris Rossow's team. If I could go back I would of watched more than one Brazosport game just to see him play. Maybe I can catch him playing on TV at the next level. I think he is playing at a small college in Missouri. They have the big guy coming back. They have a decent guard from last year, and a forward that I remember. Barring the unforeseen, like a superstar move in nobody knows about, B'port should be good, but not as dynamic as last season's team. You never really know though, until you run against them for four quarters.
  24. Yate's coach Greg Wise probably doesn't want to play Silsbee this early in the season. Good time to see what Brazosport is about this season. All of those games are must see games.
