AMC was the favorite based on what? Last year AMC did not even make the playoffs and BH was in the regional finals? Both undefeated district champs. I would say that was a definite toss up and if I am not mistaken AMC was running a freshman setter. Maybe based on strength of schedule you could say AMC had a similar record while playing much tougher opponents throughout the season. BHs best win may have been 2A Iola? In my opinion in VB losses by 6 and 7 points in a set is convincing much less 3 sets in a row.

Barbers Hill loses in convincing fashion to A&M Consolidated 1-3. Looks like they had a comeback in set 1 and then got handled in sets 2, 3, and 4. 27-25, 19-25, 18-25,18-25 District 19-5A is now off to basketball season as the teams went a combined 1-4.

Nederland lost in 4 to Santa Fe Barbers Hill won in 3 vs Laporte. Nederland also beat Laporte in the warm up game 3-0 but because of divisions was sent to the stronger bracket. Insane

They didn't need divisions in 5A and below. They already moved a ton of 5A teams up to 6A this year so it was not needed at all. You have basically created the YMCA Division in all sports by watering it down this much. As someone else said, Friendswood might not even break a sweat going all the way to State this year where in years past they never advanced past round 3. Will it even be satisfying knowing you are playing at a lower level and beneath your talent while not even receiving a challenge? Eh UIL also got rid of the regional tournaments so you have to make the state finals to even get a true state like experience.

Correct. Ironic NED and PNG as the 3rd and 4th place finishers in Div 2 get the tougher draw. UIL screwed the pooch on this whole deal.

5A is very weak this year with the teams that moved up and then taken a step further with the divisions it makes it laughable. You can look at the brackets and see there is only like 3 legit teams in 5A region 3 split between the two divisions. UIL has definitely gone to the everyone gets a trophy mentality with this setup.

The Hill is going to the huntsville tournament if I am reading the schedule right? Anyone know who is in that traditionally?

Nice Volleypalooza? I dont think the Dogs have ever played in that and looks like Barbers Hill pulled out of it this year so Nederland is playing a tougher schedule.
