  1. As I said a couple of days ago, if we did get beat it definitely WOULD NOT be because we ran out of gas. Typical Cornel Thompson team. Dayton didn't lay down in the second half, they were wore out. The main reason why we only suit out 26 players is because our off season and two a days are HELL. There just aren't many kids that can hack it. We lost a big lineman that we were counting on for that very reason. I was very impressed with the Dayton team. I think they will at least get a playoff spot and I wouldn't count them out of being the district champ. This is the best Dayton team I've seen. I think WO-S has a very special group of kids this year. Coach Hooks, after the game, gave them tomorrow off and they declined, they wanted to come in and practice... that's AWESOME!
  2. Guys, remember, we're hearing one side of the story. I'M NOT AT ALL SAYING DAYTON DID ANYTHING WRONG, but it would be interesting to hear it from the Magnolia coaches perspective too. It's hard to imagine another head coach acting this way without more provocation than what has been portrayed here.
  3. We have our starting tackle who quit for a couple of weeks and is now back but having to pay his dues to get back on the varsity. He is 6'2" and 270 lb. We also have another lineman who was supposed to be back this year from knee injury, but the doctor would not release him who is 6'4" and 300 lb. When you add those 2 we WOULD have been huge. We are still bigger than we usually are, but losing these 2 hurt our overall size some.
  4. Kick(miss)er is in Colorado this week and will not be attending our first game. It's eating him alive... I know my cell will be blowing up Friday night.
  5. I will say this, if WO-S loses it WILL NOT be because of conditioning. Yes, we have players going both ways, but the kids that are going both ways have been doing it for along time and have been through a HELL of a two a days, not to mention the long 7 on 7 season where most of them went both ways in 100 + degree heat. They will be playing Friday night in the "cooler" air. They will be ready physically. If we lose, it will be because we just got beat, not because we ran out of gas. One more thing, while I understand the point central is making and I agree to a certain point that things would be difficult. I also feel (know) that Dayton could lose to WO-S and still run the table in the 4A district. WO-S is just as good, if not better, than any team 22 4A will put on the field this year.
  6. I agree with you Matt. I think this game will be close and someone will make a mistake (turn over, botched punt, missed extra point) that will determine who wins. Good luck to you guys Friday and be safe.
  7. Newton AND Diboll. I agree with OF too, but I've been saying for a while that I thought OF was going to be tough.
  8. I think the most surprising team looks to be Kirbyville.
  9. Coop, with the relative little water mass between Cuba and FL, do you really see this storm strengthening to over a Cat 2? If so, what's the strongest you see it getting?
  10. I'll have to back Coop on that one. I remember that he told me that Monday that he was EXTREMELY worried about Rita from the time she entered the Gulf.
  11. OF... in a route!!
  12. Thank God for BH they are... I was almost embarrassed for you.
  13. I think you may need to be putting a little more stock in them...
  14. I REALLY like this last model. I guess our threat is diminishing by the hour, that's a good thing, although I'm sure we're not out of the woods yet. If we can get past this one and the one next month, we may have this season licked, right Coop? By the way, how do they come up with the Farmers Almanac anyway? Is it a bunch of historical data compiled and used to make guesses on what will happen with the weather in the future? If so, I'm wondering if Rita was actually supposed to be this year according to the Almanac, because the history that I've seen of hurricanes hitting this area shows that we get hit every 42 years or something like that.
  15. That's a good write up and some very good kudos from Jeff Mathews. He's a class act.
  16. Coop, is the latest model making you feel a little more at ease?
