1. I think everyone understands that. After all the kids have been through, though. It's good for them to get out and perform well, especially the Soph QB.
2. This is a sore subject with many people, still. All I will say is that a player was ruled ineligible and it cost us all of our district wins that year.
3. I think the WOS defense will definitely slow down OF, but I do not think it will be a blow out. I wish the OF kids the best of luck, too. I saw many of them and their cheerleaders at the Reggie Memorial. Class act.
4. Like some of you have mentioned, the new QB needed work and he needed it against a live opponent, something you can't get at practice. And the foot did come off of the pedal in the 4th qtr. We kicked a field goal on 1st and goal from the 5 and the 2 other late scores were on a fumble return and a punt return. The second string o-line played from the 2nd qtr on and there were several back ups playing on defense... But WOS will never just lay dow and let someone score... ain't never been that way and I hope it never changes.
All I am saying is that a kid from K-Vill, PNG, Newton, EC, that is use to winning might not be able to handel lossing at Lamar.
What an a$$...
6. WOS 7th "A" - 8 HF 7th "A"- 30 WOS 8th "A"- 28 HF 8th "A"- 14
7. We will be praying for him. Any new info?
8. He extended most of Kvilles drives by making big 3rd down throws. I was impressed.
9.
The WOS QB did an outstanding job under the circumstances. As a matter of fact although he will undoubtably improve next week and in the future plenty of teams would be proud to have him just as he was Saturday.
I agree.
10. Seen them twice and been watching the group for a while. I'm not saying that there isn't a player on the team that can play a position better than another... I do not know them that well. But, I do know that this group of seniors have never been really successful on the field so I do not think someone at different positions is going to make the difference. They are just in a rebuilding year. They will probably finish around 3-7 this year and probably 6-4 to 7-3 next, then watch out!!!
11. Skip, the WOS offense from Saturday and the offense in the next few weeks will be two different animals. Hard to go into a game against a team like Kville with a first start for your QB. He will get better every game.
12. Come on guys, I'm not even from Jasper and knew this group of Seniors for Jasper was not very talented. They won very few games in sub varsity. When you have a group come thru that isn't strong you have to play up younger players which naturally makes for a tough season... Jasper will be fine. They have a strong Freshman group, a pretty good group of 8th graders and 7th graders. They will be back.
13. Kirbyville was as good as expected. They are the top team in this region in my opinion. I was proud to see our boys take the field again and compete. I agree that the "No call" did not affect the outcome nearly as much as untimely turnovers and a lack of execution during crucial moments did. In the end, this game was about much more than winning or losing. Salter did a good job and got better as the game went along. I would love to see him and the Stangs meet up again with Kirbyville in about 8 weeks.  ;D

He completed a few passes in the Jasper game. One for about 30 yds to Roberts, but no ones heart was in that game after the 2nd quarter. He will do well after a week of all the snaps and the offense taylored to his strengths.
I agree. The one thing you can't replace that Reggie had is his leadership. That will take time but Salter has the talent.
I think you will see several kids, including Salter, stepping up and carrying the torch that Reggie carried...

22. Good stuff there. I like the fact that they emphasize that he IS NOT Reggie Garrett. Salter has his own qualities and he will be a good one.
23.
A old school coach who cared for his players beyond the playing field. I graduated Newton in 1990  , and then went to college. After i graduated college i came back home and could not get a job for a year.Coach Barbay found out i was home and called me and told me he would make sure i was the first person  to be called on the substitute teachers list.  The next day and for the next year i was called everyday to come and work at the school as a substitute teacher.  He told me as long as you are trying he would be there to help in anyway he could.
Awesome story! And a great tribute to a wonderful man on and off the field.
