They still have talent on the offensive side. They are just really bad defensively right now.

BEST RB's ....Kirbyville / Bridge City...POLL
Gasilla replied to Kville_Kats's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This is silly. It's a poll about running backs. People, Menard does play the QB position, if you did not know. ::) I disagree with you rykerx. I have seen Menard, Ford and the other two backs for Kirbyville. If Menard plays runningback, he is second to only Ford, he would not be behind those other two.
Menard is a QB this year, he has been a running back from 7th grade thru his Sophomore year with a little QB mixed in. But, you know as well as I do that a Spread QB is a little of both. As for your assessment about him and Ford, I agree. I said in the other thread that I thought the backfields are COMPARABLE. Ford is big and fast, but so is Menard and in my opinion, I think Menard runs a little harder. I think Ford has a MUCH better supporting cast. At least over the last few years he has. Carpenter is also a big hard runner and Dishon has the speed. No one can really make a fair assessment of these kids unless they are running behind the same lines. Unless BC's has drastically improved, I think this is where Kville wins this game. If you take BC's "Three Headed Monster" and switched teams, Kville still wins, IMO. -
Has Kirbyville faced a true spread team this year? I know they haven't in any gams, but I can't remember who they scrimmaged.
besides I think that the Bridge City program has more class than that other Orange County team down the road! LOL ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) :P
Well you, obviously, know class... ;D ;)

Man, you Kville fans are beginning to sound like the Brownwood fans over on 3ADownlow... LOL. I've been watching the backs for both teams for a few years now... I'm telling you that the BC backs are comparable to the Kville backs. To be honest, I don't think that Kville even has a player with the skill set of Matt Menard. Kirbyville's O-line makes studs out of those running backs. Not sure about the BC line yet... I think Kirbyville wins, but it's going to be won by the team that controls the LOS. To the guy that said that BC has not seen a front 7 like they have... I agree, that's why I said it would be won in the trenches... ;)

Three great Junior Backs at BC make the difference.
i dont think you want to start comparing backs with Kirbyville
I don't have a dog in this fight, but if you don't think the BC tandem can compare with Kville's (which obviously you don't) you are wrong. BC has very talented skill people. This game will be won or lost in the trenches.
I'll offer my perspective from the various "hats" I have worn in life... As a parent, I have let my children be individuals, not carbon copies of me (thank God! Iwas 125 lbs., soaking wet, in high school as a senior...combined with Coke bottle glasses and buck teeth, that made for an interesting picture.) My oldest, now an accountant, played high school football from 8th grade to 10th grade. HE decided that he could make a greater contribution to the team by being off of it and letting someone with more ability, but a lower grade classification, take the spot he was occupying. My contribution while he played was to be the loudest supporter for the "D" line, to the point where I gave his coaches a chuckle on game films. My middle son lettered in baseball his junior and senior year. Every season began with the same question..."you still wanna play?" My daughter is not interested in sports. As a coach (volunteer Pop Warner and Little League) I have had the opportunity to coach great little guys that became fine young men. A couple of the ones I coached are in D-1 schools, one is at Lamar University, and one is in the NFL. None of them are there because I coached them. They are there because you had a wonderful combination of parents who worked in conjunction with the coaches, from little kid to high school. Parents that KNEW the coaches job was to coach, and their job was to parent. Parents who led by example. Coaches are there to win the games (and occasionally, teach history). They can have the most knowledgeable history students, but the school faithful demand wins. They do scream...they don't have the luxury of a Britney Spears flesh toned microphone that can make them heard over the LOUDNESS of a typical game. They have to yell instructions to kids who are thinking about the date after the game with that hot cheerleader (or a reasonable approximation thereof). No wins? Coaches get fired...No wins and lousy ADs? Coaches get fired faster...Coaches are handed a bunch of kids, and each skills group is handled by an assistant. With a large group of kids, there is no time to be "individual"..a coaching style will be a coaching style. As a parent you have to accept the loudness and the brusqueness of a coach...physical assault? Okay, no, but being loud and obnoxious? In my third hat, as a clergyman who works with youth, I get to see the kids. Not all of them are angels, but by and large, they are good kids. I can tell though, when kids have "freinds" instead of parents. These kids have no limits. I can also tell when kids feel they are being used to relive "dad's glory days". The package is sold as a "benefit" for the kid, but they realize they are being used. The hardest part of this is when the kid graduates, because their worth is no longer evident to glory day parents. Pretty much, parents can't rely on coaches to be their kid's "buddy". They are there to coach a team, not build lasting freindships into the future. And parents, if you want to see the face of "ugly parenting"...turn on ESPN anytime Craig James is on...
One of the best posts ever!
Some of his best could have been his weakest at one point.. ;)
but if they do the work, then they will rise to the top. They will be one of the 11. If not join the BAND and root and wish.
If the coaches will take time and work with them your right they could rise to the top with hard work...
This is the problem, 99% of parents believe that their child is this kind of kid. Hard work can payoff for some, others will never have the athletic ability that others do. Is the fact that they just do not have athletic ability the coaches fault? Can a coach make a child who is 5'8" and runs a 5.5 40, grow 6 inches or increase his 40 by a second? Yes, if the kid works hard and does everything ask of him he might increase his speed to a 5.2, but parents who think that a coach can make Reggie Bush out of Beaver Cleaver are not in touch with reality... hard work or not, for some, it just won't happen. I'm not tryng to offend anyone, but you have to be realistic.
the Tribe that good or did Gilmer just play that bad?
Well, they lost to Tatum 47-41 last week. Looks like the "D" is lacking...

The REASON the asst. coach "went after" the refs was to ask why there was no time left on the clock because the ball was thrown out of bounds with 3 seconds left on the clock. THAT is why he went over to the ref after the game. You would think he would just leave it alone. He won the game, get over it! Geez!!!!!
Ok , ok yall brought in the specifics. If that is how you want your role models to behave. Fine. I hope the assistant coach who gets it and pulled the out of control coach away from the refs and the cops is ok, looks like he might have separated his shoulder tackling his peer.
He is fine, thanks for your concern... ::) -
After watching an assistant coach for a team totally lose it and go after the refs after the game, for a team with a highly respected head coach, I agree that some of these teams have some issues. It is tough for the head coach to control folks in the situation, it has to start before that with a standard and if you do not meet that standard, you are gone. I would not renew the assistants contract if I was the head coach of the team I saw do that recently.
That's why someone... kind of like yourself... would never be in that position. It takes a little compassion and understanding, especially when you have a young, passionate coach who loses his cool after watching his kids give a winning effort and get screwed repeatedly by the same person... ;) ;D Aggie, you knew it was coming so don't say anythig if this gets kind of long. I'm sure I'm about to get plenty of ammo to keep me busy for a while. :D ;D
