  1. Freshman- WOS 0 Nederland 14 JV- WOS 24 Ned 0 2nd qtr I'm hearing a few WOS Freshman were pulled up to the JV, including their QB.
  2. Honestly Gun, I expect Silsbee to win all 5 games but I would put Lumberton and Newton as the two toughest non district games. Davis and Jasper will be tough, not as much as last year. The Diboll game I expect Silsbee to win by a couple of TD's or more. When was the last time Silsbee beat Lumberton? I know it has been quite a while. I'm thinking Lumberton wins that game but I'll listen to your reasons as to why you think the tigers will win. Well, being that it has been over 6 years since these two teams have played, and Lumberton did beat Silsbee the last few times they have played when Silsbee was pretty bad those last couple of years as a 4A, it has been awhile, like you said. Lumberton will be Silsbee's toughest test before district, maybe thier toughest game all season. But I like Silsbee's chances because of the one big intangible, THEY ARE DO!!!! lol I think Newton will be there toughest game before district, and I think Newton will be to much for them. I agree with you on both points.
  3. The polls are created by different people.
  4. Amen. This will be a hard fought ballgame! These two teams love competing against each other as do the coaches. Both teams are a little banged up and that's part of the game. Should be a good one. How ya been Gas? Been doing real good? How about you? Whatever happened to the flag football game? I'm ready for a good competitive game on friday. I think it will be a tight one.
  5. That's right, injuries are a part of the game. They are gonna strap them up and play regardless, no sense whinning about it. Maybe some younger kids will get some good experience under fire which will only help either team in the long run. The world (or season) will not end for either team if they lose this game.
  6. Diboll and Davis will not be very good this year at all. Jasper will be Jasper, they will have some players, but they have a new offense, new coach and they lost their best player to graduation. I agree Lumberton and Newton will be the biggest preseason test. While I don't put much stock into the score and I don't really know who the starters are for Silsbee this year. A general observation that I came away with from their LCM scrimmage is that they are very small on both lines which is not typical for Silsbee. Especially the last few years. Of course, running the spread, you don't have to be big. And defensively you also don't have to be big as long as you are strong and quick, but this isn't what we have seen from Silsbee the last few years. They will be a different type of team this year in my opinion.
  7. What's your pick in the WOS/Ned and Ozen/WB and why?
  8. Gas, why did he leave WO-S. Don't know for sure, only speculation.
  9. Huh? Isn't he the kid who left WOS?
  10. skipper, my sources from Nederland are worried about #34. they say he looks alot like Quinny Garrett and they sure dont want to see that kid again this year. That's good if they are worried about #34 then that leaves #43 to run all over them. Who is #34? There isn't one... LOL Coach T gave him that number because he reminds him of the Kansas St and San Diego Charger running back Darren Sproles(#43).
  11. You have to have the hosses to run the Wing-T... Does Nederland? Nederland runs the spread, you would be foolish to look at what Vidor did to us and think that Nederland can do the same... I knew I would ruffle your feathers gas, we will see if they we do Friday night My feathers ruffled?? : I was just trying to interject some common sense and football knowledge into a post that was, otherwise, lacking... ;D
  12. Yeah, I know that LCM's QB is a Jr and the big WR #16 is a Soph. I also read somewhere that one their linemen going both ways is also a Soph. I think LCM will compete with everyone this year. They may be a year away for the playoffs, but they definitely will have a much better record.
  13. That's just football, somedays you just can't help but to score. You can't give the kid the ball and tell him to run the opposite direction... LOL. On a side note, I do not have a child involved in this league, but as a fan of football in this area. I want to say thanks to all of the parents and people involved in putting this league together. This is only going to make football in this area, as a whole, better for doing this. We have not had a state champ from this area in years, but I bet you it will not be long as the kids of this league begin to get into highschool and on varsity teams. It's very exciting to me for this area to put emphasis again on kids learning to play at a young age and I just want to say that I, as a person who just loves the game, appreciate it. Keep it up, guys. You're ALL headed in the right direction. Win or lose.
  14. You can say what you want about the yards per carry. It was so much better than last year. They could have gotten outscored and I still would have been very impressed with them. Rome wasn't built in a day just as LCM's football program won't be rebuilt in a season. Let's all be proud of the steps that are being taken in the right direction. The kids demeanor on the sidelines is so much better and it all starts with your attitude. They believe they can play and that's a start. Again Congrats to all the boys putting in the work and to Coach. Trust in what you are being told and you will continue to get better. Good post, T. Very true.
  15. It was mostly (or all) jokes. No one has said how many pages a thread can go or should go. I find it humorous that one of the longest threads ever in the high school football forums is about a meaningless scrimmage. More power to 'em. That is what keeps this site a good one. Maybe this thread can keep me humored for another 30 pages or so. No one should take it any more than just ribbing however. Any more than that and someone is taking life and high school football too seriously. Very true...
  16. Not true, the Silsbee JV scored once.
  17. 78, as far as still talking about the scrimmage results, I could care less if you continue talking about the scrimmage during Week 10 of the season! If you're postin', you're readin'.....and if you're readin', then SETXSPORTS must be supplying something that y'all like. And that, my friends, is what it is all about. I was kinda thinking the same thing, but there have been posts on this thread that indicate this is not the case.
  18. I'm going to this one too. What time does it start for the varsity and where is it?
  19. What difference does it make how many pages this thing goes? If people want to talk about it, it's their right. This IS a discussion board, right?
  20. Man, that's awesome and I agree with you, changing the kids attitude is the biggest step. I hope to see some good things out of OF this year! That offense can be mighty hard to stop when run correctly. Sounds like OF is headed that direction. Good luck!
  21. You really ought to know your facts before you post. 2008 Gilmer Stats Rushing 440 carries for 3,446 yards, 45 TD's Passing 198 of 337 for 3,069 yards, 39 TD's 2007 Gilmer Stats Rushing 481 carries for 4,242 yards, 56 TD's Passing 200 of 317 for 2,858 yards, 39 TD's 2006 Gilmer Stats Passing 179 of 269 for 3,468 yards, 50 TD's Rushing 271 carries for 2,186 yards, 28 TD's 2005 Gilmer Stats Rushing 369 carries for 3,030 yards, 42 TD's Passing 169 of 280 for 2,449 yards, 27 TD's 2004 Gilmer Stats Passing 277 of 409 for 4,152 yards, 49 TD's Rushing 462 carries for 3,149 yards, 42 TD's In the last 5 seasons, Gilmer has rushed the football more than 50% of the time. The Buckeyes rushing yardage total has been more than the passing yardage in 3 of the last 5 seasons. These Buckeyes are not a one trick pony. They have some horses! What gilmer does is let the passing game open up the run. When a team knows you can and will throw the ball, it makes them respect and have to prepare for both which allows you to pop off some good runs on them. In my opinion, it's the best way to play offense. 50-50 is about where you should be. Of course, I love the spread. ;D
  22. I have a feeling that WOS or Silsbee (because there is a good chance they will be "big school") will end up running into Gilmer in the playoffs and they are going to be a tough customer. Pass happy or not.
