  1. I wouldn't even discuss this until after the Jasper game. Now, all we have to do is win one game out of 2 against two teams with a combined 2-14 record. No offense to them, but it's pretty safe to say we'll win at least one of them. Then our first round opponent will likely have no more than 3 wins. The only thing that will keep this matchup from happening is if LaGrange were to beat Navasota in week 8 which would send Giddings to DI. I really hope that doesn't happen though. I think we would match up very well with them.

  3. Well... I'm surely not bragging, but since you asked, in the last 20 years, we have 1 state title, 3 state title appearances and 1 semifinal appearance. Newton has 3 state title appearances and 2 titles in the last 20 years so I think they should be considered the most dominant closely followed by WOS. Other than that, PNG went to the state title game in 99 and Jasper went in 04. Nederland ain't even in the picture according to your time frame.
  4. History does not indicate this. Last year, all but Giddings was gone after the first round and the teams that beat them didn't last very long after that. I don't think they are any better than 21, probably not even as good from top to bottom.
  5. Man... you have GOT to be kidding!! I don't usually get into these "our team is better than yours" topics, but if you really believe this then you've had your head stuck in a hole for the last 30 years. I get tired of the history lessons under every topic so I'm not going there, but WOS has proven it on the field for years, especially the last 4 or 5 with regards to 22-4A.
  6. I believe there is video!
  7. I think he was injured.
  8. Ummmm... Do we have a classic, retarded post section? This would make 2 for kicker. ;D
  9. Ummmm... yeah!! :-[
  10. OC defeats JC in OT 63-56.
  11. You will not make a living running the ball on this defense. The old Chaingang is back!!! If you are one dimensional, you are in for a long night... You ain't going to run all night and win. You will have to mix it up... See Jasper and Bay City.
  12. The defense was great. That Jasper offense is at another level with Bailey at QB. I think it was a good change. Our offensive line took control in the second half and I was really surprised at how well we were able to run on them, especially out of the I. Jasper is a different team than they were last year or even early on this year. Keep on improving and lets make a deep run thru the playoffs, side by side.
  13. Not just the Lindsey kid, but the 8th grade team has a lot of talent on it. If they can all keep up their grades.
  14. That's odd, I thought their defense looked very good... :
  15. As for the Freshman, there are 2. One is the QB, his name is Reggie Garrett, he stands about 6' right now and throws for about 220 yards every game. The other Freshman is Mark Robertson (or Robinson not sure), he is about 6' 1" or 2" and plays receiver and defensive end. This kid has got some crazy ability. He can catch anything thrown near him and he and the QB make a pretty unstoppable duo. He is also a terror on defense. Last time I watched them he played DE and they could not run his direction. The last QB we had with this kind of ability was Beasley. Both of these players could contribute on the varsity now, in my opinion, but they are getting some valuable experience now. They are a lock to be on varsity next year and may even see some action in the playoffs if we are that fortunate. td, the 8th grader is Britton Lindsey, he is the tailback. He ran all over Silsbee last week and is going to be awesome!! He has speed to burn, great vision and his cutting ability is unbelievable. The 8th grade coach (Shug) says he hasn't seen anything like this kid come through the middle school. That's quite a statement.
  16. All you guys calling, but no one leaving a message... Anyway, I just went out and dumped out my bag and I've got 20 red flags and 15 yellow flags. I think that should be enough. I've also got all the cones and the football. We should be set. My daughter also said she would film if we still need someone to, I just don't have a camera.
  17. This talk about being the best player in the district is WAY, WAY premature. I'm sure he has sparked excitement in the Jasper program and with fans. Keep it in perspective though. They have only beaten one team where the outcome was questionable. BC and OF, this year, will make a lot of players look like super stars.
  18. If my receivers Heb, coldblooded and kicker are there. Expect another 600 yard 12 TD performance from OC... ;D
  19. I have to agree. Although I have not seen the kid yet, "A league by himself" is an awfully bold statement.
  20. I agree that we have improved immensley. Especially on defense AND our kicking game. It was very nice seeing a field goal. Hopefully this will give our young kicker the confidence to go out there and do it some more.
  21. Yes, we are passionate. I also agree with you, to a point, that we tend to remember to much of the bad and not enough of the good. I guess we are a little spoiled... ;D
  22. Yes, the defense is awesome once again!!
  23. First of all Mr Ump, I have not bashed anyone!! I stated what I felt from watching the game just like anyone else who goes to a game does. What I state is my opinion and mine only. I have tried to keep the bashing from going on so don't lump me in with the others just because I post something about the offense. I'm going to say what I think no matter what you or anyone else thinks about it. That's what this board is about... to discuss football and what we think. I have not called anyone out as I've been told by some of your counterparts that there is way more to the play calling than the fans know. I'm not discussing the job or who is doing what or who is doing thier job well. I'm discussing what I see on the field. That's my right. I did not call anyone out, I did not say anyone needs to be fired, I did not call for anyone to come back, I said I would LIKE for us to be a little less predictable on first down! Now, all of that being said, when you look at these stats, it does appear that we were a little more successful than I thought. Like you, I deal with a lot of numbers in my job, stats don't always show everything, but they are a good indicator. Looking at your stats there, I see that 12 of the 22 1st down plays were in the second half. Only one of those plays was a pass (which gained 5 yards). Nearly all of the runs were the zone read plays (the same play) and only 3 of those 11 gained as much as the one pass that we threw. In fact, 6 (over half) gained 3 yards or less. My point was that I think we could be more successful with the zone read if we threw a little more on first down or were a little less predictable. You don't have to agree, you can look at these numbers and be satisfied, but there is way more to it than just the numbers, as you can see. I love Mustang Football, the program did a lot for me growing up. I love everyone of the coaches and I think they all give a lot for this community and for our kids and I appreciate everyone of them. However, since when are we no longer able to voice what we think about our teams? Or, can we only talk about the good things? Furthermore, of the 3 passes, all were complete and averaged 6 yards per play. The 19 rushes averaged only 3. All I was saying was that I wish we could up that pass number to about 8 passes and 14 runs. If we did that, I BELIEVE, it would make the 14 runs more effective which would, in turn, allow you to do more things on second down.
