  1. Well, we’ll be talking about that chip last season for another 50 years because there won’t be another one
  2. These football powerhouses are using open enrollment as a form of NIL in college. It’s done to get some of these kids out of unfortunate situations and to a better life. It is what it is. I’m not opposed to it whatsoever. Having said that, schools like PNG better seriously consider the benefits of adapting to this new trend in high school sports. Anyone who couldn’t see the talent gap from the opening kickoff is either naive or doesn’t know ball. Some of the kids PNG put on the field last night were severely overmatched. It’s no fault to them, it’s just facts. There will be some who say “well we won last year”. Last year was a coaching clinic. PNG could play that SOC team 10 times and lost 9 of them. Last season was a perfect storm. If PNG continues to be strict about transfers, that chip last season will be all we talk about for the next 50 years….because there likely won’t be another one. Out of the 8 schools in the 5a D2 quarterfinals, 7 are open enrollment….PNG is the outlier. Look at other predominantly white football powers (Austin Westlake, Southlake Carroll) also open enrollment. We’d also quickly move to D1 which means driving to Beaumont, PA, and Barbers hill opposed to Montgomery and Huntsville. I know why some of you would be opposed to open enrollment. I’m not from here, I’m from Nacogdoches. Our school was about as diverse as it gets. I see the honor, pride, and tradition. What I also see is an old school community unwilling to adapt to new culture. A community that stands solely behind the purple and white….heavy emphasis on the white.
  3. I was born and raised in Nac, I’m excited about going back home and seeing our fans fill up Homer Bryce. I shattered my wrist on that field back in 99, hopefully Friday is a better experience haha
  4. The only thing I could see is Gary retiring and Jeff taking over at Katy. The issue is, Katy is so watered down with the recent growth of schools, they’ll likely never return to the dominance they once had.
  5. I’ll start a go fund me and raise the difference 😂
  6. You’d be hard pressed to find a community that supports their football team like PNG at any classification. It wouldn’t be a money issue, he’s gonna be taken care of.
  7. Yea offensive line was definitely the weak spot on the team. They haven’t played a team that can lean on you like SOC or PNG this season.
  8. I watched the Brenham game and they’re not beating SOC or PNG. Aside from Callis, I wasn’t impressed with them. Brenham controlled the LOS the majority of the game, not having Dixon at RB was the deciding factor.
  9. I think we had around 25k there for a playoff game between Lufkin and Longview back in 03, that was nuts.
  10. We’ll be there and we’ll be loud. Hell my brother from Kansas City is flying in to attend the game. He’s never been to a PNG game, just watched on NDN press so it’ll be a huge shock for him.
  11. SOC went head to head with Duncanville for 3 quarters. Neither PNG or Nederland for sure is doing that. SOC is better this season than last. The addition of Reggie McNeal Jr has made them more dangerous
  12. Henry will be starting but he’s still not 100%. They’ll have to get J Jerry up to speed with the ones. He was running back in the spring game and broke some long runs. Moved him to OLB then back to RB. He’s been splitting carries with Naquin. He’s more of a true RB in my opinion with good vision and breakaway speed.
  13. McCrary retired and Feller was let go, both are sorely missed. The offense is so vanilla and very predictable. It looks like middle school ball, go figure that’s where the OC came from. They better get it fixed and it better happen quick
  14. The 03 and 04 teams were so tough with Lane. I graduated from Nac in 2000 and lived in Lufkin til 04. Yall got screwed in the SLC game in Waco. Can’t remember if that was 03 or 04. Was really looking forward to driving down the road and backing the Pack on Friday night but Mid County Madness is priority nowadays. Glad to see Lufkin back in the spotlight. Home is now PNG my my heart will always be in the Pineywoods. Coach Outlaw is smiling down on them boys
  15. Lufkin wins state that year of Claybon didn’t get hurt vs Copp Cove. They played SLC with WR Rafael Thomas at QB. That 05 team was special. Better than the 01 team IMO
