Wow! I’ve seen some Junior High girl games more stat stacked than that! -

Very uneventful game. Too much standing around dribbling the ball and wasting time. Other than the dunk from the Raiders and the steal from Bush in the fourth quarter and his massive one handed slam dunk to give the Cards the momentum to finish out the game with the win, it was quite boring! Bush was also nominated for this week’s Dave Campbell Player of the Week. Why is no one talking about this kid? Although I am somewhat partial to the Cards, Bush is probably one of the most well rounded players I’ve seen this year amongst all of the teams. -

Most teams only have a few players that score a majority of the points. Everyone has a role on the court. Some are good defenders. Some are good rebounders. Some do not need the ball in their hands at all but make up in other areas of the game and that makes them valuable. Every player fits into a certain, strategic place in the game. Is that all that you took away from what this person said? Didn't the Cards finish second is district last year behind the Silsbee Tigers? Maybe you should try to promote some positivity on this forum instead of the poor attempt to slander a hard working bunch of athletes. You seem very passionate about this group and I do believe they are great. Much respect going out to you for standing up for them. Some people have nothing better to do than spray their negativity around. Do these boys have some kinks to work out? Absolutely, but you can tell they are working hard, they know the game and they're learning from their mistakes and that includes the coach. If I'm not mistaken, there are only 3 returning Varsity players from last year that I have recognized. -

I don't think I would put the blame on the young coach. The players just didn't take care of the basketball in transition and crucial moments in the second half when there should have been easy baskets made. The turnovers were horrendous. From just not catching the ball to just throwing it out of bounds to no one. The second half was totally different from the first. The Cards started the game out smooth and not rattled at all. The Mustangs full court pressure was zero problem for them at all but they seemed like they were playing it safe. The second half, they just fell flat. The Cards have enough talent to run away with the score but always seem to hold back and that is frustrating to watch. Like I said previously, that should have been a 20 point game easily. Hats off to Bush #22 for the Cards. That young man is a solid player and hard to guard no matter where he is on the court. He also has great defense and not easy to get around. If he's not hitting three pointers, he's driving in and drawing fouls. I've heard he has also had several dunks this year. He is very aware on the court and with the ball in his hands, but the support has to come from the others as well. The point guard, Mungia #2 is fantastic as well. He's a good shooter and is very fast. The two young men work together very well. -

With what should have been an easy win for the Cards they threw that game in the trash! They should have coasted to a 20 point blowout. So many turnovers in the third and forth quarters and they weren’t even forced from the Mustangs, just stupid passes. Not a good District start for them. There was also a huge discrepancy in the game clock at the end. Starting the clock before the ball was thrown in and letting it run for several seconds after the whistles, all at the end of the game when it came down to the line. Not very honest on the WOS side and they all knew it so for anyone else playing in the WOS gym, be aware of the game clock official if the game is close. The three referees should have been more aware as well and held them accountable at the table. Not accusing WOS of cheating but it certainly was not a good look for them. -
Any predictions for this weekend?

Agreed! I've seen the Cardinals play a few games this season and last night, they couldn't buy a basket. Had they shot anything like the other games I've seen, it would have been a 20 point game. -

Was able to take in this game tonight and hats off to Coach Robertson for showing great class by not pressing this Jasper team. The Cardinals could have easily made a 100 point+ run on them but respectfully did not. Robertson is doing a great job with this squad and looking forward to watching them play Friday night against West Orange Stark. I believe it will be a battle for the #2 district spot. Hopefully, the Cardinals play as a team and don’t fall back into the selfish “me” ball like what happened to them with the small point guard during the Silsbee game. -

I’m watching back the game on the Hudl link and it looks like BC played with only 7 players and Silsbee kept their starters in until the last few minutes of the game. Why? Hats off to BC for hanging in as long as they did. That game was nothing for Silsbee to be proud of. Also, those referees were obvious Silsbee ISD alumni! -

They do have the talent to take 2nd in district but will they have the discipline? They play their best if they keep their mouths shut, head down and just play the game. Last night, I saw what I assume was a parent on the front row literally heckling players for Silsbee. BC doesn't need that garbage and the cop had to go talk to him. BC has some talented kids and the shifty little point guard can handle the ball well but someone needs to go take it from him when he starts playing selfish, ball-hogging and throwing up forced shots and that seems to be the pattern in every game I've been able to catch this season. Outside looking in, that ruined the entire mojo of that BC team last night. Robertson seems like a good coach but he will need to get ahold of his players before they end up losing out on a possible playoff run due to selfishness. -

Bridge City actually gave 2-1/2 good quarters. They’re a really good scrappy team and when they play together, they’re tough. It was a 9 point ball game in the 3rd quarter at one point then the trash talk turned into a 1v1, selfish ball game and there was no more team ball the rest of the game for BC.
