  1. Where do I begin: To start this was a gritty win from my Bulldogs. Nothing pretty about the brand of football they played last night. Just hard nosed, lunch pail football on both sides. DEFENSE...WE HAVE A DEFENSE THAT CAN STOP THE RUN! Offense had to shuffle 2-3 pieces on the OL due to injuries and the running game just wasn't there like it was the first 3 weeks of the season. But the short passing game picked up the slack. Bellville did a great job of containing our speed for the most part and I give props to our coaching staff for being patient and taking what was given to them. This is without a doubt a loss in either of the last two seasons because we would have been trying to throw deep balls vs a prevent defense and Chubby would have been running for his life. I am a super proud Bulldog this morning. Bellville will be fine, those coaches over there deserve the benefit of the doubt to fix the problems they have going on. I thought overall they just weren't used to the team speed that we had up front. We were able to get a lot of penetration to throw off timing on their run schemes. I think Hitchcock put 3A on notice last night that this isn't the last 2 years ball club that's all finesse. We can bite now!
  2. I think I'm the lone Hitchcock supporter on this forum so ill give my thoughts. In the past Bellville is the type of team that we have struggled against because of the lack of size. This season we actually do have some bigger bodies on defense to go along with our usual team speed. So im interested if that can lead to 2-3 more stops that can give our offense its extra opportunities to create scores The biggest difference between the last two years HC teams and this one is the leap taken by the OL. We are a MUCH MUCH more physical football team that is not necessarily reliant on the pass. What's got us beat in the playoffs has been our inability to run the ball when the weather gets gross and we are still trying to throw the ball downfield still. Vs Legacy I think HC had 250 rushing. Vs HF I think we had almost 300 rushing. Last week vs LaMarque they only ran the ball a handful of times and still got 120ish on the ground. If HC defense can get 1-2 turnovers this will be a ball game in the 4th quarter. I think a lot of people have been too quick to crown Columbus as the district favorites. I think this is the best Team HC has had since Chubby Jones has been taking snaps at QB. I'm looking forward to a great game. I don't expect HC to win but anything within a 2 possession margin lets me know this team is moving in the right direction as we move towards district play.
  3. LSSS threw for 275 and rushed for 80. HC 202 Passing and 249 rushing based on the hudl recap vid I found. Hitchcock lost the game because of a goaline turnover that cost them 7 points and overall bad special teams play that put LSSS on some short fields. LSSS had a lot more depth than HC, especially on the defensive front where they were able to rotate their front to stay fresh. HC QB Chubby Jones is the real deal though. If you have never seen him live you are in a for a real treat. His ability to keep plays alive with his legs is pretty incredible as he was able to make a very good front 7 from legacy look just OK. I cant imagine that HF front 7 will be as good as what LSSS put out there. But this will be my first time to see the Longhorns play in person. Should be a fun game. The last 2 State 7on7 Champs in Division 2 going at it at Bulldog stadium. I hope the rain holds off!
  4. A lot of folks are going to be surprised at how big Hitchcock is in the trenches this season. I know they got a 4 star that is committed to Nebraska on the DL to transfer in. At the 3A level he's going to be borderline unblockable. Run defense has been their Achilles heel the last two seasons. If they get that figured out, they will be a legit contender.
  5. Heard it thru the grapevine, Bellville vs Hitchcock Week 4
