  1. Well, I hate to be this blunt, but if they don't know that then they are friggin idiots! To be honest, when I went to LU I wasn't involved in anything...was just a commuter student who went to class and went home...and even I knew I could get in the games for free! On a slightly different note, I did see a lamar vs. texas tech commercial this morning on channel six. anyone else see it?? I just caught the end.
  2. I spoke with the LU staff earlier today to ask this exact question. Here is what I was told they are doing on campus... 1. went and spoke to the student organization leaders about a week ago to encourage their groups to be at the game. 2. created a facebook event (whatever that is) for all lamar students who are on facebook. 3. creating flyers to hand out twice this week around campus. 4. emailing all of the LU Crew students with game info one day this week, then texting them a reminder the day of the game. I think they said they have about 1,200 students in the LU Crew. 5. Setting up a table in the Set (I think thursday or friday) to give out lu shirts, etc. and encourage students to come to the game. 6. holding a student organization spirit contest and giving away $400 bucks to the most spirited groups 7. Have spoken with a couple of the frats who are planning to tailgate before the game. 8. A sponsor is giving out 2,000 red lu shirts to the first fans at the game. I'm not sure how much more they can do!! It's now up to the students to show up.
  3. Agreed! Look what Tech did to Idaho and Washington State in their first two games. LU still has a way to go, but they are much more competitive early in this season than they were last year.
  4. I understand the connection, but I would rather see you eat CROW. DOVE is a fragile, helpless, innocent little creature. And, so is the bird. ;D
  5. especially when u think they are still without two of their would be starters in Myriam and Kalis! Let's go out to the game wednesday and support them! I know I'll be there!
  6. lu only down 3 with a few minutes to go
  7. Games early but LU leads 10-8
  8. My favorite stats... 1. LU - 8 TO's; USL - 14 TO's 2. 73% FT I know there are others...these two just give me th ;)at warm and fuzzy feeling! Here is some info from the box score that is also nice to read: First Meeting between two schools since Dec. 14, 1999 Lamar now leads the series 40-39 and snaps a seven-game losing streak to the Cajuns in Lafayette. LU also snaps an 11-game non-conference road losing streak dating to 12-14-05.
  9. To be honest, UTSA came in hot, but were quite a bit overrated as evidenced by their 2nd loss of this weekend. I saw the TX State / Lamar game in San Marcos. LU had about the worst possible game they have had this season. I really wasn't too impressed with TX State, LU just did not play well. i thought after that game that the real TX State would start to emerge, as UTSA has done...and after looking at their narrow defeat of a bad UTA team this weekend, I am convinced that they will start to make the slide downhill, too. LU is starting to peak. After missing way too many games just before conference, they are finding their rhythm. Mark it down...LU rolls over TX ST when the game is played in Beaumont! SFA is probably better than last year, so I agree they are on the top, but LU has a chance for a repeat road win at SFA and they will have to have it to stay in contention for the Championship. ;D
  10. I was at the game and left with about 7 minutes to go in the 4th. TX State owned McNeese all night long! I was really suprised to see that it ended that close. McNeese did not have the speed to keep with the TX State receivers and the QB was on target all night long. Their offense is legit, but they obviously have some kinks if they let McNeese score three TD's in less than half a quarter.
