SS is pulling for Dayton. Go Broncos!!
Well hello there friend! I have been following SS all season and I am pulling for ya'll this week! Go get um wildcats!
-
I looked over all the stats for both teams this season (playoffs included) and from that alone I say my Broncos will take this but it definitely won't be easy and we MUST avoid turnovers....I am going to study things a bit more before making my official prediction but my preliminary prediction is 28- 21 Broncos. Good luck to both teams and GO BRONCOS!!!
Brenham is ABSOLUTELY HUGE!!! FrioGal quote, "I would say size wise we are pretty even- I don't recall any players in green that I thought were terribly huge, in fact everyone I was with agreed that we match up pretty well in the size department". I don't know what FRIOGAL was looking at when she was at the game but it must have been Brenham's cheerleaders. Brenham's size could play a factor on the good and bad side of things. Either way it's the playoffs and the deeper each team get's the harder the competition. COACHES AND PLAYERS have to be flawless.
Just my opinion of course, for what it is worth and I still stand by what I said....sure, there were quite a few players with height but overall size, I think we match up pretty well. Of course, I also believe size is only a small factor and not necessarily one that determines the winner of a football game- seen it too many times to rely on that alone. Maybe, just maybe we have differences of opinion because we were sitting on opposite sides ;) I may have been dressed in purple but I was sitting amongst all that green! 8)
Ok I need a speed report a true one... because im trying to make an informed decision. This is gonna sound funny but because of realitive size equality, i'll go with Brenham if thier fast, Honestly from what ive seen of Brenham they remind me of Dayton.... no seriously, kinda wierd but they look alot alike, i.e. VERY GOOD DEFENSES, and GOOD individual preformers who play both ways. Key to the Game Keeping Ploch, and Franks Fresh for the offense. No lie I'd Be scared of a Ploch, Franks read option.
Well...of course, I'm partial but I also tell it like I see it :P I think Dayton is faster, plain and simple. Brenham did a great job today with throwing the ball (after half-time that is) but I didn't see any speed that impressed me. And I agree with ya some....I think Dayton and Brenham are similar in several ways but there are also some notable differences- speed and size being just 2. Lets see what others think....
Same place as last year then. Can't wait to see it. Gotta do some research on Brenham but the first thing to mind is 15-14. I know Brenham had already clinched, rested some players, etc... but it's the first thing that comes to mind. I hear Brenham is huge and throws the ball well but has a hard time running the ball??? Dayton's d is small and lightning quick....
I would say size wise we are pretty even- I don't recall any players in green that I thought were terribly huge, in fact everyone I was with agreed that we match up pretty well in the size department.....now Angleton, that's another story..those guys were very large and they were spent by the 4th quarter! Their declining energy was very evident in the 2nd half.

Great, great game!!! Saw several Dayton folks there, including quite a few Bronco players!!! ;D ;D ;D 2 great come-back games in one weekend- doesn't get much better than that....well, I can think of one thing that would be better than that, but I will have to wait until next Saturday @ 6pm ;) -
SSprings wins and happy for the Wildcats but Dallas paper already talking noise. Rematch from last year between SSpings and Dension. Marshall may have something to say about that tomorrow. Happy for SSprings and our district.
I like the thought of a rematch involving SS!!! Would be another heck of a game!!! Could happen.....

This story makes me prouder than any game they have ever played!!! These young men are true heros- on, and more importantly, OFF THE FIELD!!! What a truly happy thanksgiving the victims of this accident will have because of our boys!!! I give thanks to you 4 young men for entertaining me these last few years and for having the spirit and heart to do what it takes to get the job done on and off the field!!! -
Should be required reading for all players IMO! Great story and example of sportsmanship. Thanks for sharing.
friogal... you're not partial are you?? #66 has done a great job since last season. A SS fan pulled me aside after the game last year @ the Alamodome and said he was just as impressed with him as he was with AJ and Cody. Pretty high praise!!! Thought you might like to hear that!
Hahaha....well, just a little ;) :P I'll fess up....I am a bit biased since he is my nephew ::) but regardless, he is doing a great job along with the entire O line- they are really working very well together! That is very cool to hear...thanks for sharing! ;D -
I would not have said this 8 weeks ago....but, I would love to see Dayton vs Angleton. I think that would be one heck of a game and who knows, it may just happen! If it does, I would not miss it for the world but then again I don't miss too many Bronco games no matter the opponent! :D

Oh wow! I could have sworn I saw 27-0 LT on another website right after the Dayton game...typo I guess....interesting to say the least and about time- not that I have anything against LT, I just think they are more a 5a team and have dominated 4a for far too long. Good to see someone give them a run for their money! -
Dayton vs. E.l. Campo predictions?

I have to do my homework on El Campo before I can make a final prediction but my general prediction at this point is.....a Bronco win! They have gotten better each week and tonight they showed everyone why they have made it deep into the playoffs the last several years! Great game. I believe they can do it! -
*Dayton vs. Waller Playoff Updates...Dayton Advances!!*

Finally getting some coverage! Way to go Broncos! What a great high school football day- 2 great games, back-to-back- can't ask for a better day! Broncos dominate Waller, 41-3 By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published November 21, 2009 SPRING – The Dayton Broncos struggled a bit with their lineup and their results during the regular season, but they appear to have hit their stride. Starting at running back for only the second week, Xavier Frank ran for 203 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and Dayton’s defense limited Waller to four first downs and 92 total yards Saturday night. It all added up to a 41-3 win over the Bulldogs in a Class 4A Division II area-round playoff at Leonard George Stadium. Dayton, 10-2, advances to play El Campo in the third round of the playoffs Friday at 7 p.m. at Houston’s Tully Stadium. Frank ripped off a 58-yard run on the game’s third play of the game and the domination of Waller, a team on the rebound after losing its first six games, was on. The Broncos were just 2 minutes, 2 seconds into the game when Payton Ploch scored the first of his two touchdowns on a three-yard run. Wide receiver Gamal Fowler also scored twice, once on a 27-yard pass from quarterback Andres Herrera and again on a 23-yard fourth-quarter run. Kicker Juan Carranco added field goals of 43 and 37 yards for the Broncos, who were District 19-4A runnersup this year after going all the way to the state championship game last season. “This team (Waller) was hot and on a roll,†Dayton coach Jerry Stewart said after the game. “They had just beaten (District 18-4A champ and third-round playoff qualifier) Brenham in their last district game and won their playoff game last week. “But we played well. It was the first time we’ve put four good quarters together. We’re playing good defense, to say the least. And our offensive line did a great job of blocking. “Xavier Frank did a good job and played well for us.†The Broncos allowed Waller single first downs on each of the Bulldogs’ first two possessions and one in the second quarter, but the defense led by Aaron Jenkins, N.L. Hines and Evan Brown gave up only one second-half first down. Waller’s big gun, option quarterback, Miller Pierce, was limited to 58 yards on 20 carries and a long run of 28 yards, the biggest play of the game for the Bulldogs. Pierce also had gains of 26 yards twice and a 14-yarder, but the Dayton defense, which limited him to 1-of-10 passing for 5 yards, forced many losses on him, including a 23-yard sack by Tony Hill on which the QB fumbled the ball away to Jenkins. That set up the second Dayton score as the Broncos moved 41 yards in four play to score on Ploch’s two-yard run and take a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Ploch, who started the year at quarterback but now plays receiver, comes in as Dayton’s short-yardage signal caller. He added punt returns of 56, 21 and 24 yard to ignite the Dayton offense. But he also punts for the Broncos, something he didn’t do well Saturday as he averaged just 8.7 yards for his three boots. Waller’s only score came after a five-yard shank set the Bulldogs up at the Dayton 21 late in the first quarter. The Bronco defense held Waller to one yard in three snaps and Christian Castro booted a 37-yard field goal for the team that ended its season 5-7. The subsequent punts off the side of Ploch’s foot were also covered up by a defense that forced three-and-outs, once stopping Waller on a fourth-and-five from the Bronco 14. Dayton scored after each rescue by the defense. It went 59 yards in seven plays after the second to set up Carranco’s 43-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. That sent the Broncos in at halftime leading 24-3. Early in the second half, Frank had a 35-yard touchdown run called back by offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. While the officials stood at midfield announcing the penalties, a melee broke out at the goal line, where the two teams were lined up for an expected extra-point try. The end result was a 10-minute delay, a 15-yard penalty against Dayton and another short Bronco punt. But when the Bulldogs punted it back to Dayton, Ploch carried it back 56 yards to the Waller 14, setting up Carranco’s 37-yard field goal. With 7:42 left in the game, Frank capped his night and a six-play, 51-yard drive with a seven-yard touchdown run behind tackle Chance McCormack. Herrera, Dayton’s sophomore quarterback who took over the job at midseason, was sharp as a tack, hitting 18 of 25 passes for 139 yards, with just one interception, one of two Dayton turnovers. Armando Reyes caught seven of those passes for 81 yards. Dayton 41, Waller 3 DAY – 14 – 10 – 3 – 14 – 41 WAL – 3 – 0 – 0 – 0 – 3 FIRST QUARTER DAY – Payton Ploch 3 run (Juan Carranco kick), 9:58.
