Ok here is the way I see it. correct me if I am wrong. teams still in that i believe still have a shot: BH(4-0), Crosby(3-1), GCM (3-1) Dayton(2-2), Lee(1-3) BH I think is in as district champs or Co champs based on how Crosby finishes Crosby has GCM, Dayton, BH GCM has Crosby, BH, Lee Dayton has NF, Crosby, CE King Lee has CE king, GP GCM Crosby -I can see Crosby winning GCM and Dayton... not sure about BH yet.. the coogs are getting better, the district winner could come down to this game. BH wins they are district champs, Crosby wins they are both Co Champs.. why does this matter... if Dayton does not make playoff, this game will determine seating in playoffs (5-2)/(6-1) GCM - I see dropping 2 with Crosby and BH..I think it comes down to Lee(4-3)/(3-4) Dayton - has to win 2 of three to guarantee they get in.. if they drop 2 of three (3-4)... they could be out if Lee beats GCM.. GCM would have tie breaker.. Lee winning King and GP.. GCM? the loss last night to NF really hurt them... I think it comes down to the last game of the year..and they could be dangerous in playoffs... I think they will have there starting QB back, he is good. (3-4)/(4-3) So I think Big- Crosby 1, GCM 2 Small- BH 1, Dayton 2 what could happen Big- GCM 1, Lee 2 or Lee 1, GCM 2 Small- BH 1, Crosby 2 or Crosby 1, BH 2

Crosby vs. Houston North Forest Game Thread/Crosby wins!
big school will only look at him if he gets bigger. I.e. Dobbs from Montgomery = key example. kid simply needs to get bigger.
I dont know about that cougtalk. I can count a couple of RB in the NFL who were his size. The kid is strong and will make you miss... Look at all the yards he has so far against good teams like Mongomery and Dawson.... top 4 A schools... and he is a SO....He will only get better.... As for Dobbs, it had nothing to do with size or talent...... try grades... Austin in AP classes.... -
Crosby vs. Houston North Forest Game Thread/Crosby wins!

The So Austin Walters had a 99 1/2 yard TD run. Another 200+ yard night for the So. I cant wait till he is a Sr. Big schools will be looking at him. -
Does lee have any key players to look out for?
Richardson #14. texas a&m commit. He is a beast. If the starting- well 2nd string qb is back(went down with shoulder injury in Crosby game), Richardson will play WR. If the 2nd string QB is not back, Richardson will play QB. Which means he will touch the ball every play. tough to bring down. Lee is good, if they don't emplode, when they get their starting QB back LEE will be a force...

Baytown Lee vs. Crosby Game Thread/Baytown Lee wins!!
hitman009 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jaevon Richardson is the real deal. The feature Aggie put the team on his back and won the game. Crosby just could not stop him. However; After Crosby scored on their first position in OT, Lee had a 4th down play, in OT he scrambled and got the first down. It looked to me like his knee was down in the backfield. I looked at the tape, and it was. Crosby should have won the game. I am not blaming the refs for the loss. The refs should not determine the outcome of the game. Just needed to vent a little... -
19-4A vs 20-4A...Who's better and why?
hitman009 replied to the_dude_abides's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I would have to say as a district 20-4A is more competitive. they have more teams that have a shot to make playoffs.. But since only 4 teams make playoffs and go head to head, I would have to say 19-4A has the better top 4 teams this year. We can all say what we think but it has proven that it is a tie. seems like we split every year. -
But it's still 1A. But, baseball is one of the few varsity sports they offer.
I would not care if it was 1A or 5A.... if the field is nice and has the seating..... why not.... classifications dont mean you have a great field... trust me, I know a lot of 4A and 5A schools that fields are really bad...

HJ's Robb Kirkland headed to Livingston
hitman009 replied to smelly-cat's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Robb Kirkland was the head baseball coach a few years back at HJ, when they were good. He was the OC in football I think and stepped down as baseball coach and took a job as head track coach. He is a excellent coach who played at UH. He will make a fine addition to Livingston. Good Luck coach!! -
Jesse Riojas out at WO-S/Shea Landry named new coach.

Didn't really matter if Smith or Duplant pitched, Dogs just didn't hit the ball. It's a series, Dogs will have to score runs tomorrow to get to Saturday. I look for Barbers Hill to save their No.1 till Saturday if needed.
Sure it matters...not having your #1 or #2 pitchers makes a difference. I also believe playing on the terrible turf at Lamar hurt them. BH had at least 3 infield hits. Your infielders cant stay back and wait, they have to attack the ball, and they did not. Ned has a battle coming back from this, they can do it, but its going to be tough. On another note, the home plate umpire was terrible, for both sides. No consistency in a strike zone, not vocal at all and really was just a bad umpire, especially for a playoff game. Do the umps have to qualify for the playoffs? This guy needs to stay in T-ball.
terrible turf??? I have never heard of turf slowing down the ball. Lamar has a great infield. the ball comes a little quicker but takes true hops. in both infield and outfield. the key is not to be afraid of the turf. that is the whole point of in and out. I will agree with the umps need to be graded by the coaches for every non district and district game. then take the top umps and put them starting at 5A playoffs and down. coaches usually they take 4 umps for playoffs. 2 from both chapters of district, home team getting home plate and 2nd, vis team getting 1st and 3rd. or coaches agree to get from another chapter. But when you dont hit the ball you don't win.

to all of those Ganders - again great season. You have nothing to hang your head about and good luck to all the SR. I wish you all the best in your feature. To all of those Bears - Congrats on the win. I am sure you played a great game and good luck to you in the next round. I did not mean to take anything away from your performance when I was talking about your field. I was just stating MO based on what I have seen over the past 20 years. I did not mean to make this thread about LCM’s field. I was trying to give Baytown Lee their props. Again good luck to all in the playoffs!
hitman009 such harsh talk about our park. if you don't like our ballpark, sign up for a different tournament next year. i believe you are are in position to help make that decision over there at crosby. ...and if you are a gap to gap hitting team? and you don't hit any balls in any gaps? then what casey stengal?
WOW!! I did not know it hurt your feelings about LCM ball park. YES IT IS A CRACKER JACK! It just means that it is small and the way the wind blows off the coast, lots of balls carry out that should not be HR. 2 years ago there was like 29 HR hit in 3 days. Last year rained out, and this year like 20. And if you are a gap team, players start questioning their swing when balls that should be fly outs for the other team go out of the park, so they change there swing. Its just a fact. I said nothing bad about the park, great stands, the playing surface is nice, out field is great, nice dugouts. All around great park... Just a little small and wind blows out most of the time. It is just not Crosby parents that think it is a cracker jack park... It is EVERYONE who plays there... And if I was in a position to change it, i might... not good confidence for Crosby pitchers and most of the ball parks in 19-4A are bigger and wind blows in..

Baseball- Nederland vs. Barbers Hill / predictions
And to answer the question, how do our kids act, they are extremely well behaved boys on the baseball field. Very respectful of the game.
IDK about that. I don't think you want to put a mike in that dug out. You might find out something you don't like. -
yes good job... I thought yall would win... I thought there might be some trouble with LCM @ LCM and only 1 game. they are tough at home on that cracker jack ball park of theirs. Balls fly out of there easy. and of course the score was 2-0 with 2 solo HR. Tough when you are a gap hitting team. You did a great job and made 19-4a proud.

Baseball- Nederland vs. Barbers Hill / predictions
hitman009 replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Dogs wins this series. I hope playing at Lamar doesnt backfire. The Dog Pound is just as good as Lamars place or better.
I might agree with you on who wins this series but saying the "Dog Pound" is just as good as Lamar's field is crazy. They have more and better seating, a nice press box, a deck, sucken in dugouts like the pros, all turf infield and the outfield grass and playing surface is better than almost any infield surface in High School Baseball. Plus they will be playing infront of college coaches and scouts. As for Nederland baseball team, they better not look past BH. Remember last year Nederland had "the team" that was suppost to roll everyone in playoffs. I was told they had the best pitching and hitting in the state. They bearly got by GCM and lost the next 2 to Budda Hays. I agree they will win this series but they better put up a better performance in the playoffs than last year if they want to go far. -
alright... someone correct me if I am wrong on this please....someone that KNOWS the 2011 district rules for their district.. 19-4A GCM vs Lee[/b]- win or loss still have 1 seed Bayton Lee vs GCM[/b]- win/they have the 2 seed. If loss and a Crosby win...tied for 2nd - a coin flip for the seeding (coaches have already agreed) Crosby vs BH-[/b] win and a win by Lee-3 seed, win and a Lee loss. tied for 2nd - coin flip for the seeding (coaches have already agreed) Loss to BH - coin flip for 3 and 4 seed. BH vs Crosby - win and a coin flip for the seeding (coaches have already agreed). Loss 4 seed 20-4A Nederland vs LCM - does not matter to Nederland, they have 1 seed a lot of Ifs. if there is a 2 way tie, a seeding game will be played or coin flip if coaches agree. If there is a 3 way tie, the best record between all 3 teams against eachother will have a bye, and the other two will play a seeding game with the loser getting the 4 seed, the winner taking the team with a bye for the 2 seed.
BH has the advantage IMO based on their pitching. If Crosby can get to Long, then they have a good shot. GCM vs Lee is a toss-up. Not sure if Martinez will go now they have clinched. Seeley went 7 last night so I like the Patriots chances against rel's #2.
IDK. Upshaw may get the start.. has a era 5.76.... tring to bring it down from the 10 runs bridge city put on him in 2 inn.. He has worked on his form sence then... and is throwing well.... also have Herbert in the stables if he gets a hit a little. district era at 2.06 with 21 K's in 13 inn in district... If the coogs D can play well.... I have to give the advantage to them.. As for Lee vs GCM... I think GCM "D" and their hitting will beat LEE..
If there is a tie on seeding will it be a coin toss to decide or a play-off game on Saturday for seeding ? Keep hearing a play-off game on Saturday if BH wins. Cannot see wasting pitching on seeding for 3 and 4, 3 days before playoffs start. Hope they do a toss, if BH wins. Does anyone know how that works ?
It depends on the coaches. If they want to play a game they can, if they can not agree then coin flip.
