1. Apparently you do not know how a athletic school system works. The AD alone has the power to control who your staff is.. not the kids.. if Freeman is apart of ANY Athletic department it is because the AD allowed it. A coach not allowed by the AD would still have his yearly contract to teach but not allowed... so if Freeman stayed and is COACHING it’s because of one man. Give him his props!!
2. The powers that be is Proeto. He is the AD and is in charge of his staff. Give him him props for holding on to a great coach like Freeman.
3. Is Roc pitching for the Indians or Porter? The announcer is reporting Porter.
4. Your right. I know nothing about how the educational system works.. I’ve only been a coach for over a decade with a state championship ring and been a state finalist. 1. I know you could care less what I think because you are a band wagon guy. 2. Community support is a big part of any successful program. Athletes help to. You don’t have to show up to the game to show your support. I know several coaches at Marshal and they tell me that the community fully supports them. They don’t have band wagon guys talking crap on their program especially on a public forum. 3. Your right about having a masters is not required however is a BIG HELP, every coach I know that has serious intentions of being a AD/Head football coach has one or is in the process of getting one. Almost every head coach I know has one. An AD is a admission position. That usually requires a masters in education and passing a State Mandated Test! 4. In my last post anything in “ “ is a direct quote from Rio to me personally. So look up and read again.. I know the man well, talk and text with, and respect the man. He has done great things for Crosby but also has some faults like all of us. I worked for him as well. 5. I lived in Crosby of 4 years. The parties I am referring to are special kind of ...... well I just leave that issue alone.. could cause a lot of controversy.. let just say the actions are against my moral fiber. 6. The Supt. Actions are a direct reflection of a conversation between Rio and him. No Supt wants his teams to lose!! It creates problems with disapline, moral fiber, leadership, sprit, and confidence, by players and the student body... so your analysis if him wanting his teams to lose if FALSE.
5. The man has not even steeped on Campus and made one executive decision yet and your down talking the man and the program he is going to install... you want to know how good programs become great.. with community support... If you are mad at the Supt. then you need to reevaluate. He was not the one that put Crosby in a financial crisis.. check your board members that YOU elected .(nothing can be passed without them) and your previous Supt. The backyard swimming parties are the reason why Crosby is in the situation they are in now!!!(Those that know the real deal that is going down in Crosby know what I'm talking about) The new Supt. was hired to correct the problems that were already in effect so the STATE DID NOT TAKE OVER... do you know how bad that has to be??...(SEE NORTH FOREST).. yea, your on that level financially. If you are blaming the Supt. for " changed the hiring rules to exclude some candidates the community wanted" then you are blaming the wrong guy. Any coach who is serious about being a head football coach/AD, especially at the 5A or 6A level, needs to have his masters. So blame those coaches for not taking the proper steps to help success in the hiring process.... Another reason for ANY assistants not getting the job has to do with the reactions of Coach Rio to the situation.. the Supt., when faced with trying to correct the problems, hired a OUTSIDE COMPANY to help so there was no bias when having to cut positions. The new Supt. went to Rio like a man to tell him about the layoffs and RIo went off on him instead of being understanding and then letting him know that he would be looking for other positions.... the guy is just doing his job. Because of RIo's actions, I'm sure he would not trust or consider any of his staff for the position because how loyal they are to him...(One of the main reasons why the DC & OC gets fired when a new head coach come in). And by the way, when Rio came in and brought his staff, he told his guys that Crosby was just a stepping stone and he would only be here for 3 years. the talent and SUPPORT changed his mind. He was offered another job at a really nice 6A, however "Crosby made me an offer that I could not turn down" My suggestion during this time is to be understanding and give as much support you can and give Coach Prieto a chance. Crosby will continue to have success as long as the community supports it.
6. If the applicant does not have a masters then they were kicked off the website and could not apply. The current OC could not apply.
7. a wave to get him out???... where were they at the board meetings?? Nope!! The small minority that wanted him out could not understand why he could not get kids scholarships with GPA of 1.9 or lower, could not pass TAKS, had multiple wright ups in school, posting drug use on social media and having criminal records... yea colleges are dying to get those kids... SMH!! by the way... last 4 years of each program playoff appearances: Rio -5 Flannigan -7 Flannigan had to rebuild Crosby back to a winning tradition with less talent. When Rio started his program he inherited a program that had 7 playoff appearances in 4 years, a D1 QB, D1 RB going to Rice(Walters twins), a WR going to UTAH(Singleton), a Tackle going to UH(Murphy), a center going to Lamar(Bridgeman), not to mention how many signed to next level? was it like 13 on that team. Some might say he under achieved with this talent and not getting past 2nd round. Some would also say he over achieved the following year with a young team going to the simi-final round. Again for the last time, Rio has done a great job at Crosby and will be missed. He is a good man who puts his faith in God and lives by the Book. I can't say enough great things about him. But to say it is all down hill, this job is a death trap to any coach coming in, and Rio is like Urban Meyer and no one could replace him is false.
8. Let me clue you in on some of your information. The upgrade of facilities had already started. The funding for the score board was already in the works with Flanigan. There was always a charge to upgrade facilities! There was a vote on a bond to upgrade facilities which was shot down by the community. So administration (Dr. Moore) proposed a new school with renovations in the bond. THE COMMUNITY PASSED IT; barley in fact. Now every coach wants to change the culture to his own staple; hence Code Red, (which is Code Blue at Sulphur Springs). All coaches work on kids to buy into their program. However, in this case Rio did not take over a dying program and turn it around. It was already successful; so easier buy in for the kids. And your right. When Rio goes so does code red. Just like every school that is losing their AD; they lose what the program was pushing. Change is coming but it does not necessarily mean that it is bad. Crosby had a winning tradition before he got there. Understand before Rio got the job, there was a line of community members at the board meeting trying to keep Flanigan. So again, change is not always bad. It is sad to see how the ethics of a few can change a school atmosphere however this is a good job for someone. Crosby is a great community that shows it support for their own. They have athletes that love to buy in. I wish Coach Rio nothing but the best and hopefully he can make an impact at Chapel Hill.
9. Did not say he did not have value. He has done great things there. I know him very well and respect his decisions. But to say he is the ONLY reason why they have had success is false. They were successful before he got there. Its funny that the exact things were said when they let go of Kevin Flanigan.
10. I love Rio. however I think you overestimate his value. Crosby has been successful since 2006! they made the playoffs in 2006-17. Last year was the first time they missed in a decade with 2 Area appearances(2010, 2011) and 1 Regional Final (2009) under Flanigan. They were successful before he got there. One year Rio did take a team to the Simi-Final. Rio is a great man and has made MANY improvement to the program however I believe Crosby will be fine. The community has some of the best support I have ever seen. Who ever takes this job does have to work within the guidelines of new Administration however it is a great job for someone!
11. BREAKING NEWS: Nederland ISD in financial crisis. The state has demanded financial statements for the 2017-2018 school year. Apparently Neederland ISD was way over budget and the state will step in unless budget is balanced. When examined by the state a alarming high bill stood out; a water bill for Bulldog Stadium for the week of Mid County Madness. When questioned about the bill Neederland ISD replied, "I Daano. We no do that!" Neederland ISD expects the budget to be balanced by next year due to Mid County Madness being played at the Reservation, however will be prepared for the expenditure of excess water next year.
12. Do you really think BH, Crosby and other schools do not break the rules?? I have personally seen BH coaches coaching their kids in 7 on 7 after school and at half of tournaments... guess what, that is against UIL rules.... I have even seen a kid paid by the School board member cash at a Peso's. Handed the kid $200 and said "my wife is not comfortable with your family and you coming by the house to eat. Here.... go buy them something nice". Heck one Coach lost his job because of recruiting practices. So don't give the integrity speech and cheater speech when I don't know a school that totally obeys all UIL laws (many of which are stupid anyways).
13. The score board cost the district absolutely nothing. There is a group of investors that are paying the note for advertisement for 10 years. Once it is paid off by investors it will be given to the school to sell advertisements. It is nothing but a profit for Crosby.
14. I kinda got the inside tract on this subject. I know what CORE is. You must be thinking old school. I know a lot of head coaches that teach core classes. Walton may teach PE at West Brook, but that is at a 6A school and he has been there for over a decade. Most head coaches at other school teach CORE subjects. I'm one of them. You are right about history being a coaches best friend. Many coaches teach it. when they leave it is usually the subject that opens up... which is why many head coaches still teach CORE classes.
15. I would agree with you about OC/DC usually not teaching CORE subjects(they have so much on their plate. Also we live in Texas where football is king); however most head coaches of other sports usually do teach core. especially at most schools from 4A down
16. The head baseball coach does teach a CORE subject and has been there since 2009
17. The HJ job is tough for anyone to take. It does not pay very well, LOW BUDGET, the district will not improve facilities(you can see that by not having baseball lights.. still the laughing stock of the state), Jr. high in cubicles(FEMA will not give them any money until they raise the old high school up like 2 ft.. which will not happen), the people in the district will not pass a bond(they feel the money from last bond was squandered, things that were supposed to be done were not), new AD will not be able to run a 4A athletic program correctly without interference from other head coaching sports (this will not change, look at Admin., any other school in the state of Texas if the head of other sports have any problems with the way the AD is running things... they would be gone.. that is not going to happen at HJ. Until these things are fixed.. HJ will be nothing but a stepping stone and will get only coaches that will use it that way.
18. Good list. From looking at the list, knowing the community very well and what I think Kirbyville needs...3 guys I know stand out and would make an immeadete and long term impact are (alpha order and last two stops)... Zach Bass(PNG OL, OC LaPorte) Brandon Craus(AD Groveton, OC Dayton) Grover Smith (Westbrook OL, OC Crosby) All 3 of these guys are very knowledgeable, have proven success, know the area, have a small town mentallity( which I think is very important for Kirbyville’s success) and are coaches the kids would respond to.
19. True.. However here is what I heard.. The camera was not turned on until all players were done dressing and at practice.. And was turned off when they returned.. So it was only on when nobody was supposed to be in the locker room.. So no intent to video "naked minors"... Just a thief!! A report was filed about numerous theifts in their field house and BISD did not respond accordingly. They hire BPD to supply security however, as you have seen lately with the parking lot insadent, security is a problem. In fact there has been several reports of people coming on campus and threatening students. Complaints were made about BPD. Flanigan is a great man. Filed with integrity. He was only looking out for the interests of his players. Sad that it has come to this..
20. Tyler Davenport of Crosby earned second-team honors and Christian Thames of Barbers Hill made the third-team squad after putting up big numbers during their senior campaigns.
21.

Wasnt Beasley defensive player of the year last year?
Yes!  And I believe that Austin Homan was the 2012 Newcomer of the Year.
Homan and Hearn was a tie for Newcomer of the year... they both got the award
22.
Wasnt Beasley defensive player of the year last year?
What is your point??... that was last year... Hearn did not play catcher last year as a freshman... Also Davenport was MVP last year... Does that mean he should have got it this year??? Davenport hit .456 this year in district and broke the strikeout record in the district with 104 K's (which was his from last year 89 K's).  And got 1st team pitcher this year.. Yea he was worthy of MVP again but did not get the votes.. No dought Thames had a better year..
23.

Why do you have two catchers on the first team????? Are the stats that close that you had to have two? These picks get crazier every year. Seems like it's losing the meaning that it use to have. I would think Beasley has the edge at catcher.
I could not find Beasley's stats but the Hearn kid is legit..New comer of the year last year.. this year.... .376 average 19 RBI's.. He picked off 6 and threw out 2 in district...He is solid at the dish... the kid is playing on the all Texas Sophmore team.. He is a first teamer.  In all district a tie is a tie.. they both get the award
With a 9 team District and you have a tie for 1st team you could vote on the 2 that are tied and with the odd number of voters get a 1st teamer and a 2nd teamer...
there had to be 3 kids put up for 1st team or one of the coaches was not there or did not vote... that is the only way I could see a tie in a 9 district team.... they usually don’t do run-offs. Everyone would have known what that coach picked.. Could create predigest against future picks.. If it’s a tie then it is a tie... why not!!! They both deserve it..
