It's one thing to get on a kid for missing football for just some summer league or just another all star game, but if it's the Little League World Series that's a little bit different. As almost everyone else has said on here that's a chance of a lifetime. That is every boys dream that plays in Little League to one day go to the World Series to play for a championship team. If you gripe at a kid for chasing his dream what kind of example are you as a coach, what type of respect are you giving your kids? Also, the World Series is just like any other championship tournament, you play the game for fun, but you also play to win. Why start something you're not going to finish or play something to not win? Those boys are playing on a team to have fun and to win and that's pretty selfish to ask them to step away from that without finishing and to end any oppurtunity to reach their ultimate goal. That coach is setting a poor example for his players and is probably losing any respect they had for him. I agree that since they aren't there someone will have to take their spot and they will have to earn it back but don't punish them that's taking away from their accomplishments. -
Thoughts On District 21 3A This Year?
scroungy replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think Bridge City is definitely the top team in this district although they lost some talented guys last year. HJ will also be tough along with Jasper and Silsbee. It will be very interesting to see how it turns out. -
Thoughts on 24-2A! How do they finish?????

1. Buna 2. Anahuac/Deweyville 3. Kountze Last year Buna spanked East Chambers like 18-2 and Kountze 12-1 or so and beat Warren twice by ten or more and have a just as good if not better team this year. There pitching staff will be pretty good and the only thing they have to worry about is staying healthy. One injury last year to their star pitcher killed their pitching staff but their bats are strong and so is their defense. Also, their head coach has been there for at least seventeen years and knows what he's doing and knows how to win so I look for them to go far this year in baseball. The rest of the district will definitely have its hands full. -
obviously you dont know what sarcasm is and I think its hilarious that PNG got spanked by LCM after talkin so much crap good luck to LCM with the rest of the season

lol why did all the PNG fans stop postin on this topic after friday night?

The best hit I ever saw was when #60 from Buna I think his name was Luke Hughes was running down field on a punt and Pierce Rhodes was the returner and when Pierce went to catch it the ball went through his arms and rolled about five yards in front of him. As Pierce ran up to pick the ball up all you saw was a blur of a white jersey come flying in and as soon as his helmet connected with Pierce his cleats came off the ground and the ball went flyin in the air. It was like you heard a big poppin noise like the sound of a gun and then the crowd on both sides sayin oooohhhhhh!!!!! and then the buna side erupt cause they recovered the ball.

Worst Games You Been To Or Played In??

yah it was pretty bad -
yall do have a shot but it won't be because of you RB. You will also have to replace a senior line with kids that aren't as familiar with the plays. With Carrell at QB I could see yall passing more. Nothin against Taylor he's a good back but he won't carry the team and he'll have some distractions.

Worst Games You Been To Or Played In??

the worst i have ever played in was against H-J my sophmore year (03-04 i think) at Buna we lost 71-15 we had 14 guys that night on the varsity. our starting quarterback was sick with the flu our center had gotten hurt in practice the day before. Some guys had failed and quit and one guy got in a wreck that ended his season. on the last play of the game the QB for H-J faked the kneel and ran it in for another touchdown. talk about sportsmanship. I was a sophmore weighing in at about 165 pounds roughly and had to play center for the first time all year and I was blockin this nose guard who looked like he had just got out of the pin and had a beard. I remember one play he took me with one hand and threw me into the backfield. That game was the worst for me. The worst I have ever been to as far as weather I'm not sure but as far as play I saw LCM get beat by PNG pretty bad one year. I also heard that at a Coldspring game last year there were kids sent to the hospital because of fighting on the field. Not sure on the truth in that but if so I bet that was a bad game. -
Look at the most ignorant person on the WOS schoolboard
scroungy replied to kicker's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
wow that lady is stupid. i'm not from west orange stark and have never played against them but I respect coach Hooks and when I hear his name I think of a man that deserves respect because being a coach is more than just about the sport or winning. You're teachin kids morals, life values, and how to have success off the field as well as on and in this day in age there are so many kids without dads at home that a coach is a father figure to some of these guys. And then you look at his records and what he has done at WOS you can't help but say that his name should be honored by being the name of the stadium and most of the people of west orange see that and i don't think one lady will mess that up. -

Buna and Kirbyville go way back because they are so close and Buna and BC and Orangefield just because they have never gotten along -
yah those are some good ones during the hurricane i went to Grapeland High School and they are the Sandies just like Amarillo when we asked what a sandie was they told us it was when the wind picked up it was the dirt that was whirled around I laughed at that the whole time I was there but they did have nice uniforms though

Buna's 08-09 team will be solid at quarterback with Justin Carrell. He is fast and has as arm he just needs to work on his accuracy and he'll do fine. They have some size on the line but not much and i don't know about how physical they are either. They also have speed in the backfield in Ryan Sheppherd and Brian Holmes. They are not very big but if they'll hit the hole and can work the passing game they'll do alright. On defense they have a good line but they'll be playing both ways so they're going to have to get in shape. Dillon Moss and Kris Dotson are big but have to stay low. Garret McDaniels is also a great defensive end and can make some plays. Blanton Craft is also one to look out for he's fast and strong for a little guy although i'm not sure exactly what position he will play.
