  1. Of course you didn’t have neighbors who moved from Baytown to Plantation. You think there’s anyone from Old Baytown that could afford a house in Plantation? It’s not that MB/BH taxes are low themselves though they are lower than Baytown, it’s that MB/BH/Cove/Old River/Beach City/etc is all in Chambers County and the County taxes are cheaper PLUS the MB taxes are cheaper. In Baytown you’re paying higher than average City taxes AND GCCISD taxes AND Harris County taxes which are all sky high. BHISD taxes ARE on the way up, though they’ve got a ways to go before they’re as onerous as they are in Baytown. Lawyers arguing for years on BHISD’s behalf all the way to the State Supreme Court over a kids haircut don’t work for free, you know? That’s got to be paid for. Luckily for BH, there’s a certain portion of the population that agrees with the policy AND has the money to buy into a master planned community built around the School District willing to spend taxpayer dollars fighting for it. A “Rich Man’s Vidor”, if you will.
  2. Choosing your own nickname is lame AF. Y’all are New Baytown and deep down you know it.
  3. I can’t believe that we’re talking about this BH/BU game like there’s really a chance BH could lose it. BH is ranked #179 right now and BU is #369. Their game last week against PAM was much more evenly matched and it was a close one as you’d expect although they sure screwed up at the end letting the clock run out without kicking a field goal to tie. By the numbers, New Baytown should win this handily, lose badly to Ball, beat Weak Brook, end regular season at 6-4 and 4th place and a game or two in playoffs before getting knocked out. If New Baytown loses to either BU or WB, Coach Abseck’s got some explaining to do…
  4. Unless Coach Abseck lays an egg I don’t see WB beating BH this year so BH ends up 4th and WB 5th. Now, next season if Weak Brook becomes Strong? It could be a real fight between WB and BH over that 4th place spot.
  5. Yeah, down here in the Dirty Bay we all know it’s better up on The Hill! It’s all good. If we didn’t love y’all we wouldn’t give you any 💩!
  6. Here’s the backstory. BH is adjacent to Baytown. For many years was Baytown’s Country Cousin. Folks in BH loved to brag about how great Country living was compared to the Big City but always had a chip on their shoulder about being the smaller, Country, community next to Big Bad Baytown. As Baytown’s School District, GCCISD, has allowed Baytown schools to get worse and worse year over year, more and more Baytonians have moved to Barber’s Hill or used addresses of relatives to send their kids to Barber’s Hill or take jobs with BHISD so their kids can go there. There is a MASSIVE new residential/commercial project going on right now called Riceland. It’s on-par with Kingwood/Woodlands in size and scope and is right smack dab in the middle of Mont Belvieu/Barber’s Hill. Tons of folks are flocking into that and buying $500k+ homes because they want the illusion of Country living and they like Barber’s Hill’s strict School District that’ll spend millions fighting a kid all the way to the State Supreme Court over a haircut. Barber’s Hill enrollment is only 100 or so from the 6A cutoff, they’re growing at a HUGE rate and a lot of it mid-to-high end stuff that is totally alien to the folks who have lived there for generations. Because the tables are turned, BH residents LOVE to thumb their noses at poor ol’ Baytown but when you remind old-timers that Baytown is basically on their border now plus half their residents are folks who moved from Baytown and brought their Baytown ways with them, plus the fact that they’re no longer really Country and just wearing a costume they get REALLY PO’d about it. Hence why “New Baytown” and “New Baytown High” gets them all worked up. Try it, see what happens.
  7. Y’all need to stop ragging on Weak Brook and instead send them all the positive energy that you can so that they can become Strong Brook and beat New Baytown on Nov 8. BTW, for those who don’t know, nothing irritates a Mont Belvieu/Barber’s Hill resident more than calling their town “New Baytown” and their High School “New Baytown High”. I’ve already got an Old Man in my inbox on here mad because I slandered his precious team. Just thought I’d mention it since we’re discussing school nicknames and stuff like that.
  8. I don’t think they’ll be able to duck going into District 23 if GCM drops down. What excuse will they have? What other 6A District is there for them? BH against the Pasadena teams? Besides, Barber’s Hill=New Baytown so with GCM out of District 23 it’s only fitting that BH take their place!
  9. They lost one of those 3 out of district games too, to Deer Park in double overtime. See, it’s not just about BH moving up to 6A, it’s about what 6A District they’re going to go into. GCCISD is redrawing attendance zones this Summer to get GCM back down to 5A when UIL redraws Districts in 2026. That means UIL will have to fill that empty spot and BH is only 15 minutes from GCM so they’d be the obvious choice. Oh yeah, did I mention that the 6A District I’m talking about is District 23? The toughest District in the state? #3 North Shore, #5 Atascocita, #20 Summer Creek, #60 CE King, #150 Kingwood, #160 Humble all in that District. #734 Channelview is the only easy win in that District after GCM drops down. If GCM ends up dropping down and BH goes up it means no more playoffs for BH, they’d be permanent 5th-6th place if that happens UNLESS they find a way to REALLY toughen up. Better to do it now before they make the jump.
  10. It won’t be done until BH Coaching/Admin gets it done which they won’t because they’ve grown complacent and believe their own hype. The fact that the 3 nearest programs to them, (REL/RSS/GCM), aren’t nearly on their level lends to this mentality of BH being the best and if they already believe they’re great why push harder and work out in that hot sun when they’re already great? 20-30 years ago, BH was a country-boy team. Hard-nosed, scrappy, and surrounded by other decent programs so BH always had a chip on their shoulder and something to prove so they’d outwork those other big-city programs. Today? BH becomes more and more high-dollar suburb with each Riceland house sold and all the BH Coaches and players hear all day long is how great they are. Well, if that’s all they ever hear, and they coast into playoffs each year due at least in some part to the schedule they play and quality of their opponents, then there’s no chip on their shoulder. They need to get that chip back on their shoulder. BH keeps low-key signaling that they’re 6A ready, like scheduling all 6A opponents in out-of-district this year. They’re never going to be if they don’t do just like other posters on here are saying and toughen up. Can you imagine what would happen in 2026 when UIL redraws districts again if they dropped GCM down and bumped BH up in GCM’s place? It won’t matter how nice “The Indoor” is or how much they pay their Coach. BH enrollments are already close to the 6A cutoff and if they don’t get right they’ll get humbled in 6A
  11. So why, exactly, did BH not go for the field goal at the end of the game? I know they got down to the 2 and then got sacked twice but did they not have any time outs or did Coach Abseck lose track of the clock or something else happen, or what?
